4 out of 5 stars Good Start.......2004-06-02

I think this is a good start for the band. I don't think they new what direction they were going with this album (some of the songs are a little "rappy" but other songs are real heavy). Well worth a listen, but I wouldn't say it is their best album

5 out of 5 stars Best Hardcore album ever.......2002-02-17

This is the mother of all hardcore albums. It's 13 songs full of pure adrenaline, politically driven lyrics, and raw melodic heaviness. It is my favorite album of all time and will remain it. Every song has it's own enjoyable hook and they're all difficult to get tired of. 'The Stench of Piss', 'Iraqnophobia', 'Pound for Pound', 'Lesson Learned', and 'Johnny Black' are standout tracks representing this albums brutal Sony VAIO PCG-GRT10015 Notebook (2.2 GHz Pentium 4, 256 MB RAM, 40 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive)

Amazon.com Product Description

Designed for the semi-mobile professional, the Sony PCG-GRT100 notebook PC is a great choice as a desktop replacement. It's packed with productivity enhancing technology and exclusive Sony multimedia software as well as an extra-large 16.1-inch TFT active matrix screen. This model also features a battery-saving 2.2 GHz Mobile Pentium 4 processor, 40 GB hard drive, 256 MB of installed RAM, a DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive, and a 64 MB NVidia GeForce FX Go5600 video/graphics card. It also offers wireless connectivity (802.11b) so you can easily work while on the road.

The Basics

• Hard Drive: The 40 GB IDE hard drive is on the small side compared to other notebooks. However, it does offer a decent enough capacity for storing documents and productivity software for road warriors--but not enough for much multimedia storage.
• Processor: The 2.2 GHz Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor offers enough speed for your work today, though it is approaching the middle range of speeds for this processor. Thanks to its Mobile features, the processor can save power when its not needed, thus conserving battery life. It has a front-side bus (FSB) of 400 MHz and a 512 KB L2 cache.
• Memory: This notebook has 256 MB of pre-installed memory (266 MHz DDR SDRAM), which is calling out for more power right out of the gate. It has two memory slots in total, with a maximum memory expansion up to 1 GB (2 x 512 MB).
• CD/DVD Drive: It comes equipped with a combo DVD/CD-RW drive, which enables you to play DVD-ROM discs and DVD movies as well as burn data and record music to CD discs. The CD-RW drive has 24x write, 10x rewrite, and 24x read speeds. The DVD-ROM has an 8x playback speed.
• Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a standard 85-key keyboard and electro-static two-button touchpad.
Sound and Graphics
The installed NVidia GeForce FX Go5600 (with 64 MB of video RAM) offers increased horsepower for strong 3-D performance and faster, smoother gameplay. It has a dual-display capability that supports one analog (VGA) connection and one digital (DVI) connection as well as a TV-out connection for resolutions up to 1024 x 768. The 16-inch TFT active matrix LCD has a native 1600 x 1200 pixel display. It also has an sound card that's integrated into the main board, and offers built-in stereo speakers.

Connectivity and Expansion Slots
This PCG-GRT100 model model has an integrated wireless LAN that connects using the 802.11b wireless standard, which is not exactly in step with the latest in wireless networking--54g, or 802.11g. You get a decent--but not overpowering--offering of connectivity options, including both high-speed USB 2.0 and FireWire:

• 3 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
• 1 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) ports for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals
• 1 VGA monitor port
• 1 PCMCIA (or PC Card) slot (Type I/II)
• 1 headphone jack and 1 microphone jack
• 1 Memory Stick slot (Memory Stick Pro compatible)
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems). It also has a hot-swappable bay for adding an optional optical drive or second battery.

Preloaded System and Software
This PCG-GRT100 notebook comes with the Windows XP Home Edition operating system, and it features Microsoft Works (for working with word processing and spreadsheet documents). It also is loaded with a bevy of Sony multimedia software: PictureGear Studio (digital photo), SonicStage (digital music), and DVgate Plus (digital video). Other preloaded software includes Microsoft Money and Encarta, InterVideo WinDVD, and Norton Internet Security Center (with 90-day subscription).

Dimensions and Weight
Measuring 1.9 x 14.1 x 11.9 inches (H x W x D) and weighing just 8.6 pounds, the PCG-GRT100 is bit larger than other notebooks in its range. It's best used as a desktop replacement while offering portability when you need it.

Power
The included rechargeable lithium-ion battery offers an average battery life range of 1.5 hours (depending on usage).

What's in the Box
This package contains the Sony Vaio PCG-GRT100 notebook PC (model PCGGRT10015), rechargeable lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, and operating instructions. It's backed by a 1-year warranty for parts and labor, and 90 days of phone support.

4 out of 5 stars Still kicken A.......2007-05-27

I first discoverd Pro-Pain by accident with their first album Foul Taste of Freedom back in 93. I have been a die hard fan eversince and stayed that way with every change the band has made. While not a house hold name like some other sell out metal bands ( we know who you are) They have kept cranking them out thru the years with out making (as far as I know) a song for radio release. They have stayed tru to form and this album does not dissapoint. I'm 53 years old and I think that they are a great band that deserves more recognition and credit for their contributions to metal music. I have every album and play them all to ragged death. With out a doubt a must have band for your collection. LONG LIVE PRO-PAIN. Have just orderd their 10th release and am waiting on pins and needles for its arrival. NUFF SAID.

4 out of 5 stars Worth your money!.......2001-03-09

Hardcoremetal at it's best! Pro-Pain are heavy as hell and recommended for all selfrespecting metal/hardcore people out there. Maybe this isn't their best album but it's the only one I know. The album opens no holds barreld with "Get real" but gets slower and mid-temp orientated at the end (which isn't a bad thing ). On "Time" Gary sings with a clean voice too, which makes the track more interesting and very depressing. "Life's Hard" is one of the heaviest songs on the album, powerful as hell. "Love /H8" is a punk-like kick in the face. Gary's lyrics touch politics as well as personal problems ("no love lost"). He has one hell of a voice and you can feel all the anger and hate in "my time will come". Again, this album should be on your shelf or better yet, in your player!

4 out of 5 stars Pro-Pain delivers a punch in the head (as per usual)........1998-12-24

Pro-pain's fourth effort is definately worth buying. It seems to me that Pro-Pain are not as famous as they should be,because alot of their songs are downright catchy. Ok,maybe singer/bassist Gary Meskil's voice is not meant for the mainstream, but this is NOT death metal, they do not use profanities in every song and the ones that they do is not every five seconds and there is a reason for it. This disc has 11 songs on it,not all of them are great, but the ones that are make this disc a must buy! "Time","Don't kill yourself to live", "Smokin' Gun","Godsize",and my favorite "Love/H8" are songs to listen over and over again (which I do). The guitar work is fantastic! The tandem of Tom Klimchuk and Rob Mochetti remind me of Glenn Tipton /KK Downing of Judas Priest and Scott Gorham /Brian Robertson of Thin Lizzy. They totally gel like they did on the previous CONTENTS UNDER PRESSURE. The lyrics are typical Meskil, no BS,says- it- like- it- is type stuff! Touching on politics, growing up,and disgust for the human race (mainly yuppie types). It is metal, but there is alot of classic rock tempos heard as well , that is just the Pro-pain sound and you really can't classify it.

Electronics

Electronics , 'Lost Horizons', and the instrumental 'The better half of forever'. They prove once again that they're not afrad to experiment and they'll break before they bend. To me, Pro-Pain is among the best in the business. I'm glad to see that among all these trendy, "tune-down-and-scream-about-breaking-up-with-your-girlfriend" bands, there is still one group who aren't afraid to craft pounding riffs, brutal solos, and griding vocals into honest metal.

5 out of 5 stars Loud, Angry, Aggressive! I'll take two!.......2005-02-16

This cd is probably one of the best purchases you'll make this year if you're into this stuff. Although a little repetitive at times (but how many bands aren't somewhat anyway yet still good?!), the sheer volume of highly listenable crushing energy released makes it all worthwhile. I don't how they maintain such a high level either naturally or on dexies or something ;-P, but if you need a good shock to the system and wake up call from this eF'd up Matrix we call Life, this is just the ticket! Left for Dead and The Better Half of Forever just kill!

5 out of 5 stars NYC HARDCORE FIEND.......2005-02-01

ONE WORD SUMS UP THIS CD AMAZING.

4 out of 5 stars A Solid Release.......2004-07-06

I was listening to Xtreme Metal Radio on live365.com and I heard Godspeed and American Dreams. I must admit at first listen I was not sure I was listening to Pro-Pain or not. So I decided to pick up this album. I do agree with one of the other reviewers about those two songs. They do have that "Nu" metal type feel to them. Nevertheless it is a solid release from an often over looked metal band.

4 out of 5 stars PRO-PAIN stays angry -- top notch thrash/speed/core metal.......2004-04-25

Very few bands have released 8 full-lenght albums maintaining the same style and PRO-PAIN can be proud of it. "FISTFUL OF HATE" is their last release and once again, a solid one. Overall, a very good album, not a masterpiece though and i'll tell you why. It starts with "Can you feel it?" and "Left for Dead": the first 2 tracks and clearly my favorites: full of angry, moshy and catchy riffing along with devastating double drumming, and with that classic PRO-PAIN mid-tempo/speed pace that will blow your mind away. Then, "Godspeed" and "American dreams" introduce a new face for the band, with clean vocals on chorus; I personally don't like it. It gives me a sensation of uncertainty for what could happen in the next album. I hope PRO-PAIN doesn't fall into that "nu-new-metal" crap with that "bi-dimensional vocals" non-sense. Gary Meskhil's vocals are like a flag for them and should never be changed. Still, those tracks are not bad, and heavy indeed. "Imploded" delivers blasting double drumming, not a fast song but brutally intense. "Aftermath" and "Freedom Rings" don't stand out as great songs but they do have PRO-PAIN written on them all over the place, like "Cut throat". The instrumental "Better half of forever" is without a doubt one of the stars of the album: energetic and full of breaking rhythm changes; shows their maturity. The last 2 song bring back what the first 2 do: "Lost horizons" and the title track "Fistful of hate" are demolishing: thrash/speed/core metal as its best. In summary, if you are looking for the usual PRO-PAIN sound you will definitely find it. This album is not as consistent as "Contents under pressure" or "Round 6", but still very good and a mandatory piece for true thrashcore listeners. If you don't know the band, they have a unique style and is difficult to tell you what bands are similar, but i would mention Hatebreed, Merauder, Slayer, Pissing Razors, The Haunted, Pantera. Get it.

4 out of 5 stars Pro Pain Never changes, but who cares.......2005-04-24

Honestly, seeing the artwork on this album kind of made me a little unhopeful by this album, but all I can say is that PRO PAIN F*cking destroys anything on the radio to this very day. yes the are semi Generic, but so is all the garbage that filters around on the radio mtv, vh1, Pro Pain I think is WAY under rated. Buy this F*cking album.

5 out of 5 stars the most solid metal band of the 90's.......2004-03-03

i've being listening to metal since i was 15 years old, back in 1986 and i can assure you that Pro-Pain is a top ten of all-time. Particularly if you are inclined to thrash/speed of late 80's and also like the Pantera era of the early 90's, this album is a mandatory piece for you. Although maintaining their style closely attached to hardcore roots, Pro-Pain makes the difference by consistently delivering a well-rounded, perfectly executed, full of anger thrash/speed/core metal that does not fall in the disturbing "alt-nu-metal" phenomenom. This is non-stop boisterous but technical riffs. Check out "Desentisize": mosh without boundaries. Buy this CD. No question.

5 out of 5 stars Fan since day 1.......2001-03-12

I have followed Pro-Pain since they came out with Foul taste of freedom in '92, I had even seen them live that year, I was 15 and that was my first live show I had been to, so I basically grew up on Pro pain among other bands. Foul taste of freedom is one of my favorite albums ever and I am thankful these guys have kept making albums ever since then. Round 6 is heavy beyond description and I must say it is my 2nd favorite Pro Pain album next to Foul taste of freedom. I feel like stomping somebody into the concrete when I listen to the blistering song, "Down in Flames", and I feel like dancing all over somebody's battered face to the speed of the lightning quick "Fed up", which are 2 of the highlights of this album in my opinion. All in all, I can listen to this album in its entirety over and over again with a nice, big, violent smile on my good lookin' mug.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best speed-metal bands........2000-12-22

Having known of the band Pro-Pain for some time, I'm glad to see they haven't changed their tune. No rapping, no videos on MTV, barely any press, yet they still rule. Their music makes Metallica look like a Hanson brothers side band, and has the same velocity as older Sepultura and Machine Head. (Definitely has that good ole' Bay Area mosh pit sound, eventhough PP is actually NY-based.)

Metal as it's meant to be played. Definitely recommended! Get this CD!

1 out of 5 stars this stinks.......2000-12-16

i hate this disk. i have the first pro pain disk, and it sucks too. i was hoping for a change. it is screaming, screaming, and more screaming.
