Wonderful album!.......2002-09-03

I've heard them compared to U2, Jethro Tull, and Neil Young but even though they may have small pieces of each of these bands, they have a style all of their own. If you love well written rock songs with thoughtful lyrics and catchy riffs, this is the album for you.

I first heard this cd at about 3 a.m., because that was when stations were playing this. I believe it was a public radio station(one more reason you should support NPR). I was totally blown away. I am not overly impressed by new music. I immediately ordered this cd, and regularly play it. Good German rock. Like listening to Neil Young with Crazy Horse, playing in Germany(one of the best all time videos). Except they are totally their own sound. You will never regret buying this cd.

Essential music for any rock'n'roll fan........2000-05-21

I've always been frustrated by the lack of success Fury In The Slaughterhouse have gotten on this side of the Atlantic. When "Mono" was first released, it missed everyone's attention except a few important people -- namely, critics like myself. Their next US album, "The Hearing and the Sense of Balance," was also unfairly overlooked, and thus, "Brilliant Thieves," the band's best album to date, was never released over here.

If I have but one impact as a critic, it is that I hope to boost the sales of Fury albums. Trying to compare Fury to just about anything is impossible, but take the more decadent musical aspects of U2 and INXS and blend them with the subtle lyrical inflections of Depeche Mode. This is only a starting point, however.

Fury is one of those bands that really can't be compared to anything, but I find myself drawing comparisons to them all the time.

"Brilliant Thieves" opens with a clarinet solo and wanders into "Bring Me Home," the ultimate tour song. Over the course of the rest of the album, listeners are treated to nearly every emotion available. If you want to try something unique, different and intensly beautiful, "Brilliant Thieves" (or the best of Fury, "Super Fury") cannot be highly recommended enough.

Don't let Falco or Rammstein scare you away from German music. Fury makes fantastic music and I sure hope that they will get some attention on this side of the Atlantic. I am a big fan of this CD. If you are looking for a CD which is more upbeat that U2 without a superhard edge, this is the one for you.

I totally agree,with the other review Iread before.I am from Germany and Fury is very popular there.They have the best lyrics I have ever heard and they know how to make good music.If you have ever seen them live you will forget about everything you heard before.They are just amazing.Follow my advice:Buy their CD's andmake the expierence of listening to smart lyrics and brilliant music..

The only song out of the 5 on this disc that I have heard is Dancing in the Sunlight of the Dark and that was 4 or 5 years ago when it first came out. They only played that song on U.S. radio for a few months yet I still remember the music and some of the lyrics these 5 years later. I was 11 years old when this came out and listening to a song about a condemned man's last day on earth just amazed me. The way they worded the lyrics to make it seem as if it were actually you who was going to die was incredible. I never heard anything else from Fury since they did not acheive American popularity, but this song was simply years ahead of its time, and we lost out by not fully understanding its power.
