Customer Reviews:
Glorious Metal!.......2007-04-14
Originally released in 1987, Bound to Break was the third studio album by long-running Japanese metal band Anthem. I hate to take the easy way out and compare them to their countrymen Loudness, but that's really the most valid comparison. Anthem is a straight-up heavy metal band that was obviously very influenced by bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.
Bound to Break is a great, "metal for metal's sake" kind of album. It's fast-paced, melodic, and full of fist-pumping anthems about staying strong for rock. There's a fair amount of "lost in translation" lyrical oddities, but that somehow makes the album even more fun. You may not always know exactly what they're saying, but you know it rocks! My favorite track is "Rock n' Roll Survivor", which totally sums up what this album was about.
I can't see any 80's metal fan not liking this album. The only problem may be tracking it down. It was remastered and reissued in 1999, but is still not that easy to find.
Wonderful!!!.......2005-04-13
I think this is the best metal album ever.I would rate every song 5 stars. i think that is the music world are only a handful of albums (all caategories, not only metal) where everything is perfect. Songs, playing, production ...) And bound to break is definitelly one of them!!!!!!!!
Anthem rocks like Loudness.......2000-04-20
Simple. If you loved the Japanese band Loudness, you'll probably enjoy Anthem. About half of the lyrics are NOT in english (japanese I believe), but the music is so enjoyable you don't even notice! Awesome guitars, awesome riffs.
