Heavy and great, and also heavy.......2007-06-29
Just picked this up and it's good stuff. Reminds me of DOWN, kinda mid-tempo, really heavy riffs with good grooves. I haven't heard much post-Gustafson era Overkill, but I'm assuming Bobby Blitz doesn't sing on the new Overkill stuff like he sings here. His voice is a lot deeper sounding and it really works with the music. Recommended!
Buy It You wont be disappointed.......2007-06-26
Every track rocks. ALL Metal and Heavy, heavy heavy..bobby's singing is strong as ever, more growling and less high pitched as most of the overkill style, but excellent still.

Full Metal Jacket CD.......2007-07-25
My husband wanted music that was popular while he was in Vietnam and asked me to order this. I have not listened to it, but he seems pleased.
BORING.......2006-02-15
I am yet to understand why this movie is compared to the likes of Platoon. There is no question which of the two is the better one. I was bored out of my mind after an hour. I turned it off and then when I had time to waste, I finished it. I am sorry I did. 2 Hours I will never get back. I know that evertone is different, but if you have not seen this movie and are thinking about viewing it, do so on a Sunday when you have NOTHING else to do. The only highlight was the Drill Instructor. He managed to crack a smile out me on occasion.
Only One Good Track.........2002-10-14
The first one... The rest of the CD is movie instrumentals that are excellent for falling asleep to, but that's about it.
Not for everyone.......2002-02-21
Abigail Mead, the composer of eight songs of this soundtrack, is actually Vivian Kubrick, daughter of Stanley Kubrick.
The disc has 15 tracks:
The first song is a hip-hop/techno mix of the cadences sung by Sgt Hartman in the first part of the movie, it is not a beautiful or good and I don't think it was necessary to include it.
The songs 2 to 7 are songs from the sixties and hear them during the movie creates a "mood" for the movie, for example, the song These Boots Are Made For Walking, by Nancy Sinatra and the scene in Vietnam which a prostitute is walking fits just perfectly and watch the movie without this song would have much less effect. Although they are not complex songs and most of the lyrics are foolish it's worth to have them in the score because they made a good part in the movie.
Song number 8 is the Marine's Hymn, a nice inclusion even thought it's not likely that someone would play this song very often at home.
The rest of the score are the instrumental themes composed by Abigail Mead, some of them are quiet and peaceful like Leonard, and others are more aggressive like Parris Island, with some nice stereo effects.
This is not the best score for a Stanley Kubrick movie and I suggest you to listen to it before you buy or you can have some bad surprises like not listening to Paint it Black, because it was not included or odd songs like Time Suspended. Actually I would suggest this soundtrack for Collectors, Kubrick fans or people with eclectic musical taste.
Boot Camp scenes are hauntingly realistic.......2000-08-04
The best part of this movie is the beginning, when they show what a raw recruit goes through at Boot Camp. It brings back a lot of memories because it was so well done. Lee Ermey just is exactly what a DI is at Paris Island. All the nuances, the lingo, the discipline. The acting is all first rate. Also, the combat portrayals in Hue City showed the type of frustration that vets faced in Vietnam. Snipers were nightmares to deal with. By the time you snuffed 'em out, you lost three or four men. The other movie that, in my opinion is the best war movie ever made, is Hamburger Hill. That movie showed what real grunt life was like in the bush.

Jan's New Band.......2005-10-08
Drawing Down the Moon is Jan Kuehnemund's new all-girl group. I listened to their new CD, "Angel In My Dream," last night and Jan is still wonderful. Like Vixen, there's more than one lead singer and it's straight-ahead guitar rock - -but with superlative lyrics. A definite buy!
Normally, compilations are sloppy. The one exception: Vixen.......2003-03-30
The Best Of Vixen: Full Throttle(1998). Compilation comprising of the best tracks from Vixen's first two albums: Vixen(1988) and Rev It Up(1991), plus a couple of unreleased tracks.
Hard Rock and Glam Metal. In those two genres normally dominated by male bands such as Motley Crue, Scorpions, Poison, and Def Leppard, one band rose up and proved that "Female hardrock can play with the best of them." Vixen was that band. Sporting a style that sounds like a combination of Heart and Lita Ford, Vixen launched a very brief career with only 3 real hits: Cryin', Love Is A Killer, and Edge Of A Broken Heart. However, even in that short time these hot girls showed that they could really rock the house down with passion! The best part about them is that their other material is equally great, and most of it could've easily become hits, given the proper airplay attention.
Here's the breakdown according to albums:
VIXEN (self-titled debut)-1988
tracks: Edge Of A Broken Heart, Cryin', Love Made Me, Charmed Life, and Cruisin'
comments: Great songs. American Dream and One Night Alone are also good too, but the ones chosen for this compilation are still the better picks.
REV IT UP-1991
tracks: How Much Love, Love Is A Killer, Not A Minute Too Soon, Streets In Paradise, Bad Reputation, and Fallen Hero.
comments: Much more emphasis on this album, though it is the better of the two. Hard 16 is another good track that could've been on here, but once again the song choices made were perfect for representing the album. Fallen Hero is a major standout track as it shifts from a melodic ambient verse to an all-out rocking chorus.
UNRELEASED (new tracks)-exact years unknown
tracks: Give It Away(b-side), and I Want You To Rock Me(live)
comments: Give It Away proves to be a decent melodic fast song that should have made the cut for the debut album, though the other songs on here outshine it a bit. I actually like the studio version of I Want You To Rock Me better, though it's not bad at all. Still, its inclusion on here is perfectly appropriate and shows that Vixen can pull off a real performance well.
Overall, I am EXTREMELY impressed with how well this compilation is put together. There isn't a single song that I don't like on here, though my favorites are Fallen Hero, Streets In Paradise, Edge Of A Broken Heart, and How Much Love. Full Throttle easily gets five stars hands down. Before you look at the tracklist and suddenly don't remember most of these songs being famous at all, keep in mind: THIS IS A BEST OF COMPILATION, NOT A GREATEST HITS COLLECTION. Plus, even though it takes many songs off of only two albums, BOTH OF THEM ARE NOW OUT OF PRINT, SO THIS COLLECTION IS THE ONLY REAL WAY TO GET THEM. Both of these facts boost the quality of this collection even more. If you're a fan of Heart, Lita Ford, Pat Benatar, or any other female 80s hard rock bands, then by all means PICK THIS UP NOW. It is guarunteed not to disappoint. If you're not, then I at least recommend giving it a try. To this day, it is one of my favorite cds, and one of the few compilation discs that truly captures a band in their prime.
Also, Vixen apparently released another album many years later, titled Tangerine(1997). I haven't heard any of it, though I've been told that it sounds much different than the music on this collection.
Great compilation from one of the best hard rock bands.......2002-12-20
I decided to purchase this greatest hits a year and a half ago because I really like hard rock/heavy metal bands. I definitely wasn't disappointed with Vixen. I now have all of their albums, and they have remained one of my favorite bands of all time. If you can come across their first two albums, which are out of print, and the 1998 Tangerine, be sure to try them as well. I really hope they release another one someday. My favorite tracks on Full Throttle are: "How Much Love," "Cryin'," "Love is a Killer," "Streets in Paradise," "I Want You to Rock Me (Live)," "Fallen Hero," and "Cruisin'." Purchase this if you're like me, and love hard rock/heavy metal. You won't be disappointed.
Vixen really rocks!.......2001-12-02
Full Throttle is loaded up with good material. You just gotta have it. If you like Heart, Lita Ford, and Doro Pesch, there's no doubt about it--Vixen's gonna be one of your favorite purchases. And guys, this would make an excellent x-mas gift for your girlfriends.
First, the compilation, now they need to follow through........2000-10-06
It's sad, really. A great female rock band release one really ungodly lousy album called 'Tangerine', and only one year later they release a compilation of they're obviously better stuff from the late 80s early 90s. Even though this is just a compilation, take into consideration that they're first two albums are out-of-print in the USA, and probably cost too much money to buy as imports. So if you REALLY want to know what true Vixen is, buy this compilation; don't waste money on 'Tangerine.'
After they reclaim all they're lost fans, will Vixen release a new album in the 80s style that they once were? I hope so. I'd hate to see another good band bite the dust.

"Dr. Strangelove, The Shining & Spartacus ~ Kubrick".......2005-03-11
One can only thank Silva Screen for releasing a Tribute album "2001: Music from the Films of Stanley Kubrick", featuring just a handful of films and scores from writer/director Stanley Kubrick......but what an impact they have made on audiences everywhere over the years...his shoes are not easy to fill in the world of film making.
Did I mention Peter Sellers manifesting his talent enough for three roles, which included a U.S. President in "DR. STRANGELOVE, OR HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING ABOUT AND LOVE THE BOMB"(1964), besides Sellers we have Sterling Hayden(crazed General) and George C. Scott(gum chewing insanity), but Slim Pickens steals the show with his wild ride on the "bomb"..."THE KILLING" (1956), "PATHS OF GLORY" (1957) and "SPARTACUS" (1960), an original true story of a gladitor(Kirk Douglas) who leads other slaves into rebellion against a powerful Rome in 73 B.C...actor and executive producer Douglas was magnificent in the film, with brilliant Kubrick directing...outstanding score by Alex North..."LOLITA" (1962), "2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY" (1968), "A CLOCKWORK ORANGE" (1971), master film maker Kubrick pulled out all the stops on this one, Malcolm McDowell(sadistic punk is funny fierce psychopath) a cult following with memorable scenes..."BARRY LYNDON" (1975), adventures of an Irish gambler whose transition from innocence into the pit of aristocracy in the 18th Century...Ryan O'Neal stars, never better in a role..."THE SHINING" (1980), we know Jack Nicholson can go off the deep end, but in this film(he's completely off the charts), can think of no other actor that can pull this off..."FULL METAL JACKET" (1987)...quite a line up from one of the industries leaders in film making, and the scores that pulled them off.
Hats off to The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Paul Bateman, Nic Raine and Mark Ayres...Crouch End Festival Chorus, conducted by Bateman...James Fitzpatrick (producer), Reynold da Silva (executive producer)...and the many soloist Tomas Lerst on fiddle, Vaclay Skyora on tin whistle, Zbynka Solcova on celtic harp, Gareth Williams on harpsichord and Jaraslava Eliasova on piano...and a big thank you to Silva Screen for keeping all of us "film-score-buffs" in a happy mood...gotta love it!

Customer Reviews:
Evolution is always good... especially for FBC.......2006-08-01
I have to say, Full Blown Chaos has evolved into something greater. Even though they are a lot less hardcore and now have more of a death metal sound, it is still amazing. The drums, guitars and bass have evolved for the best, for there are faster and harder riffs along with the drumming (there are a hella lot more double bass drum... which is good). And I have to say, the screaming has also evolved greatly. Before, it was a lower sound, but it is now a higher pitch with more control; they are not making their own sound. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that in their next album, they will have made their own sound completly.
I do have to say that it took me awhile to get used to it. For the vocals were totally different and I too used to Wake The Demons (I still am waiting for Prophet of Hostility to come out at my record store >_
<). But after I learned the words, it quickly became my favorite of the two.
See you at the Masquerate with Hatebreed on the 12th!!!
A Fine Follow-up.......2006-07-26
These guys are back with as much brutality and skull-crushing metal as they ever had. The song writing on this record is a little more stream-lined than their previous efforts. Not a bad thing, but whereas on Prophet of Hostility and Wake the Demons FBC jumped around everywhere, this record still has those changes but to a lesser extent in each track. Mostly, each tune has a breakdown that takes it in an unexpected but satifying direction. Songs like Life of Sorrow, where the first half is a speed run and then the drummer introduces the new rhymic pattern on his snare drum before the whole band picks it up. Chopping Block does the same thing; the song starts with a pulverizing rhythm and ends with a groove. Look for the hidden track after The Voorhees Complex. They retracked Blood Flow while recording Titans and it sounds killer. All in all this is an excellent follow-up, and should satisfy their fans.
metal-core(but a little more metal,a little less core).......2006-07-14
let me start by saying i love F.B.C,i have all of the stuff that they put onto cd but this one is a bit different! i would compare this release to wake the demons and prophets of hostility to what hatedbreed did with rise of brutality to persverance(although i think this cd is better than R O B).this cd is a lot more metal than hard core, the breakdowns are there but not like previous F.B.C stuff where they took every chance they could to rattle your teeth out with a earth shaking (rung out) breakdown!please don't get me wrong there are some good ones on here but just not like before.i liked this cd more the second time i listened to it so i think it will grow on me, but still compared to their other stuff this is really good, not great. if you like F.B.C check this out IT IS GOOD!! and better than 75% of the stuff out there but go in with a open mind willing to accept some change!
Breakdown Masters.......2006-07-13

Ted Nugent's Third Great Live Album.......2005-03-03
FULL BLUNTAL NUGITY is Ted Nugent's third great live album. It contains several of his most identifiable standards including "Hey Baby", "Cat Scratch Fever", and his personal "Free Bird"/"Green Grass And High Tides"-type extended rocker, "Stranglehold." The opener, "KLSTRPHK", is lame, but that's hardly an issue, as the rest of the material shows Terrible Ted rocking as hard in 2000 as he did in 1975.

The Energy of this CD is worth buying it for..........2005-02-14
... from the get-go, Ted and his band (down to a three piece) kick your a$$!!!! Given the atmosphere: New Years Eve co-headlining with his long-time friend Sammy Hagar (who is mentioned but does not appear on this CD), the energy was in the red by the time Ted attacks the stage. The years only seem to show during Ted's rants on-stage: Ted's rapid-fire rants of early 70s seem traded for clear, well-annunciated addresses to his audience. He seems less the testosterone-filled maniac and more rock-n-roll motivational speaker, and this is rather cool! His energy is still there, just channelled differently but nonetheless effectively. The highlights are "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Great White Buffalo," leaving the new track "KLSTERPHK" to the opening "motivational speach" while amazingly keeping the energy building. Be prepared to be slammed with this CD!
All you need is attitude !.......2002-12-05

So get this CD and crank it up !
Enjoy!

Fullmetal Alchemist lover.......2006-04-26
I love Fullmetal Alchemist so much that I had to buy one of the C.D.s. I can't get enough of it. I have the manga, I've seen all the episodes, trying to get the series on D.V.D, and can not wait till the movie comes out. If your into Fullmetal Alchemist as much as I am you'll love it too!!!!

Album Description
This legendary band's first album, beginning their notoriety with a selection of absolute classics, including the epic 'The Call of the Wintermoon'. This set down the essential Immortal blueprint which they followed on the next three albums: speed on the edge of self-destruction, razor-sharp guitars which bite to the bone, lyrics which illustrated their own icebound world, and a sense of Northern melody which is completely their own. Bursting with Bathory influence, obviously, but still a classic true Norwegian black metal release.

A Glimpse of Greatness To Come. .......2007-01-14
When you hear this early Immortal for the first time, you can hear what was to come in the future. As with all Immortal, this release doesn't have one bad song on it. The sound on this one isn't as killer as the later albums, but don't think it's so bad that you listen to it and can't make out anything in the songs. The logo Immortal had in the beginning was better also, and I think the cover of this one was just plain evil looking. No artwork, but Immortal look like they were in the middle of a dark forest near some gothic looking structure right out of a horror movie set in Transylvania. Important for diehard fans to have and also anyone who wants to hear what this great band sounded like in the beginning.

EP Shows Hint of Promise For FDJ..........2005-11-24
A WAX BOX... is a hint of Full Devil Jacket's potential that would mostly come to full life on their self-titled debut. "Screaming Jesus" and "Stain" (which appears on the self-titled, along with a re-working of "Mr. Wiggly") rock with intensity, assaulting guitars and the anguished vocals of Josh Brown (now frontman for the alterna-metal Christian group Day of Fire). But the track "Full Devil Jacket" is a complete 180 and a softer side of FDJ, and it has a very bluesy feel to it. So while this is a too brief depiction of FDJ, it does hint at the promise this Tennessee band shows on this short but slick ep.
Hey.......2005-04-12
Don't buy this if your not a fan,if you are,why are ya reading this.U know ya gotta have this.DMF if a great song,The song FullDevilJacket hits home.
Maybe it's just me,but you can onley compare Alice in Chains to other bands for so long, then you come to find out the band that you are comparing them to does not sound like them anymore.Oh god Lane, they just don't know...
Heavy Metal is back!!.......2001-07-14
Looking for new music from a great new group? Sick of boy bands and all of the other teenie boppers out there? If you want in your face metal, this is the one to get!!
potentialy great.......2001-03-25
This band could be great. If you have the self-titled and like it even a little, you have to get the ep. It's mind blowing. The first two songs are on FDJ but there good. The other three songs cannot be missed. It would be an injustice if you didn't hear these songs so buy this CD. Its kind of hard to find but once you do it is worth it.
Definately A Band You Will Soon Hear About.......2000-02-15
FulldevilJacket is a hard driven band with lots of fat guitars. Definately an outlet for the return of rock. There is not a song on this E.P. that doesnt show the talent of this band. They should most definately be on your to buy list. I am looking forward to their full length album.
