Bow To The Horse!.......2006-10-07
good gravy! if you don't have this record then i'm assuming you're a poseur of the highest caliber. go on, buy it, throw the goat and sing along. i wish more bands still rocked like this.
too far ahead of its time.......2006-05-10
If Kinghorse had come to the fore in the mid-90s instead of the late 80s they might have rocketed to the top. They were the blend of metal and punk that everyone was looking for without knowing it. The lyrics and personality of frontman Sean Garrison played an important part in their regional rise to prominence. They released another album on Slamdek that is worth obtaining and there are unreleased mp3s and videos floating around on the Internet that can be found via Google.
A secret treasure.......2004-03-02
Fast, hardcore, metal, unique: These 4 elements make up the amazing concotion know as Kinghorse. Basically a relentless battery of anger with occasional melodic expressions. I bought this album the month it was released and immediately loved it. Memorable riffs and lyrics with a splash of hardcore make this a metal feast for the ears. I think this album is too intense for most people 'cause everyone I know hates it except me. I still listen to this record when I want something unique to kick me awake. This album puts the current music scene to shame. Sadly, Kinghorse didn't last long enough to make other albums but this record will always be a powerful stab of emotion. Kinghorse is one of the most unique bands I have ever heard.
Maybe not quite 4 stars..........2001-04-27
...but they deserve to be a little overrated. Kinghorse was one of the inventors of the metal-punk sound, although it's always the immitators, never the innovators, who get all the glory.
The sound is tight and razor-sharp. Black Sabbath meets Black Flag, but with a healthy dose of originality and mania all their own. Kinghorse, their debut CD is a wild ride though screaching vocals, whoa-ho-ho chants, and crazy lyrics. Don't pay attention to the ego of their producer, Glenn Danzig, who slapped his own name on the album three times as big as anyone else's. This invites undue criticism and comparisons to Danzig, with whom they have very little in common. Kinghorse stands alone.
Good combination.......2000-09-06
This album is pretty straight-forward metal-- thrash with a melodic twist to it. The cover art is by Pushead, and the producer is Glenn Danzig, so you know that some heavyweights were involved in this creation.
