4 out of 5 stars More Crushing Metal.......2001-07-16

Germany's masters of thrash metal turn in another powerful performance with this album. In this case, Angelripper has decided to take the music in a slightly more punkish direction, but every song remains fast and heavy. While there are a few faceless tracks, all are far from bad and quite a few really stand-out, such as "Unbury the Hatchet," "Sodomized," and "Fellows in Misery." Additionally, the occaisonal sound samples are used to very good effect, such as in "Die Stumme Ursel," "Gomorrah," and especially in "Moby Dick" (who would have thought whale song and heavy metal could be so seamlessly combined?). A minor complaint must be directed at the production, which excenuates the vocals (which sound better than on other Sodom releases) and drums over the guitar, which is sometimes buried in the mix. Nevertheless, this is just a quibble and does not significantly detract from the album. The only other problem is that the lyrics sometimes fall flat, such as with "Jabba the Hut" and "Eat Me," but who listens to this type of music for deep philosophical content, anyway?

It was an ok CD. however i have heard better. i personally feel that had they chose a different song for the single they would have raised their [popualariot greatly

Yo, where's the album? It's just not fair to release a single this brilliant without backing it up with at least nine other tracks that have their sights similarly set on stun.

Er, okay, so maybe it is. In fact, I don't know if I'd want to be Johnny Boy's Davo and Lolly right now. They've shown that they're capable of coming out of nowhere with an orgasmic -- sorry, but I can't find any other description for those "yeah yeahs" at the two-minute mark -- pop song for the ages. What will they do now? Will they conquer the planet or fade into one-hit-wonder obscurity? While it's far too early to say, if you haven't heard this song, you arguably haven't lived.
