Schenker is the Best.......2001-10-12

This is a great compilation of Schenker's early MSG work. Schenker's ability to display such strong emotion in his playing is just phenomenal. This album gets 5 stars for the 5 star (guitar) tracks on it: Lost Horizons, Attack of A Mad Axeman, Let Sleeping Dogs Lie, Capt. Nemo and Desert Song. Even though I don't particularly like a couple of tracks (In to the Arena & Armed and Ready) and the sound to me is a little dated, this is worth buying simply to have Schenker's solos on the 5 tracks above.

Early Schenker at his Best.......2000-06-22

This CD represents the best of Michael's work with MSG in the mid early to mid 1980's. Fortunately the tracks included here shwcase his heavier side and his stellar guitar playing, unlike many best of albums that are only concerned with radio and video hits. Fans of European style guitar playing will love this album and come to realize how influential Michael Schenker's playing is to many of today's guitar heroes, even though he may be as well known.

There is a better live compilation.......2005-07-14

The "Michael Schenker Story Live" and "Unforgiven Live" are both better packages. If you want a straight ahead best of package then get "Essential MSG". Not that you can go wrong with Schenker :)
