Edguy's style of heavy metal is very simple to describe. It's `80s styled without sounding tired or retro, with a heavy emphasis on happy melodicisms, and a strong focus on ultra catchy choruses. With this release, they have compiled some of their very best songs guaranteed to have you hooked after only a couple of listens. Their infectious catchiness grabs you from the moment a song begins till its very end. A bonus disc with unreleased tracks and live songs complete the package. It's a great way to be introduced to a band that knows how to make good use of melody while creating simple metal songs that can stand the test of time.

Edguy is without a doubt definately one of the brightest outfits in the current European heavy metal scene. Their music is top quality and all their albums are good, so in a sense this is a "Greatest Hits" package couldn't be more perfectly timed, and would make a great first purchase for new Edguy fans, but there is one thing about this album that makes me wonder...

While it is a delight to see great Edguy songs such as Theater of Salvation, Tears of a Mandrake (which it was crime to use the editied verison on here), and Vain Glory Opera to be included on a single album, their are many songs on here that really have no business being on here, and then their are songs that should be on here that aren't. The songs that don't belong on here (But Here I Am, For A Trace of Life, The Devil & the Savant, etc.) are the various bonus tracks from older Edguy albums that were obviously slapped on here just as a selling point, and while they are good, their is no way they could or should be considered Edguy's best. Then there are songs on here such as Deadmaker and All the Clowns, which are decent, but where is Painting On the Wall? In all honesty, one could take all "truly great" songs on this album and fit them on one CD. The rest, while good, aren't exactly Edguy's Best. It makes you wonder just who picked these songs.

The fact the Edguy moved from AFM to Nuclear Blast records after 2003 is also the reason none of the band's new material from Hellfire Club & King of Fools doesn't appear on here, and that's fine, but due to the fact so many rarities and bonuses appear on here, along with the fact half the tracklisting could have been filled with better choices, leads me to believe this album could have been much more that it is.
