Album Description
Hail To England is the third album by the "Kings Of Metal" and without a doubt a true milestone in the bands discography. No less than four of the seven tracks have become true Manowar classics: Kill With Power, Army Of The Immortals, the title track Hail to England and Bridge Of Death. Hail To England is Heavy Metal in its purest way - mighty, powerful and melodic.
As a special bonus, the digi pack Silver Edition features a 16-pages booklet with new and rare photos, interviews with the band members (and others) plus lyrics and liner notes. In addition to this, the album has been digitally remastered using the original studio mastertapes.

3.5... too short.......2007-05-07
This cd didnt age that well. i loved it in the 80's but just bought it recently and am a bit disappointed.
"Blood of My..", "Each dawn I die", "Army of the.." are all good tunes. But the length of the cd (just over 30 minutes) and the mess call "Black Arrows" are really disconcerning. They should have at least boosted this cds potential by adding some live trax or something. I mean your really only getting 6 tracks here.
The thing is, back in the 80's this was different. But now it sounds more or less tired and lyrically its pretty cheesy.
Want the best Manowar? Get "Into Glory Ride" for its awesome raw sound and get "Hell on Wheels live" for a good sounding reproduction of some of these tracks and several other classics. This cd is still quite good for its time, just didnt age as well as some others. No xtras makes this dismal.
hail to england remastered.......2006-09-17
Manowar still pounding today, never insync with the trend of the day, they dont sound like no one but themselves, personally this and into glory ride is my favorite, this cd is heavy begining to end, from the mid paced but ferocious blood of my enemies to the superheavy and fast kill with power all the way to the dark and heavy grinding of bridge of death, these guys run in so many directions each song sounding different than the last all the while sounding like themselves, this cd shows so much originality and creativity backed up with raw talent and power,as far as true metal goes, this is over the top and untouchable, theres a person reviewing this cd on amazon calling manowar silly ,dont pay attention, person is clueless on heavy music,he sounds very digrunteled probably because his favorite band the flock of seagulls are nowhere to be found, these kind of people have no business reviewing heavy music,Manowar have stayed true to themselves never sold out and stood the test of time, all hail manowar.
Poseur's need not reply!.......2006-01-15
I own most of the Manowar cd's and find that they are the finest export of Auburn, New York. I was turned on to them in the mid 80's and have been playing them at maximum volume ever since. I would suggest that if you aren't one of the Army of the Immortals, don't rate this.
Overrated.......2005-10-14
I liked this stuff in the late 80's when I was in high school. I found the tape that I bought years ago and listened to it a few days back. I could not believe that I liked this back in the day. First off, the lyrics are silly. Honestly, they could have been written by a 12 year old. Secondly the music comes off as unoriginal. There is nothing that jumps out at you and makes you go "wow". Lastly, the Black Arrows of Death is one of the worst things ever recorded. It starts of with a rant that end with the line "let each note be a black arrow of death shot straight to the heart of those that play false metal" or something like that. Uhgggg. That is followed by one of the worst solos ever to grace an album. There is no melody to it. There is no structure. It is almost like they decided to play as many notes as possible in a fixed time. Absolute garbage. I no longer understand how anyone can take this band seriously.
I don't understand why people don't like this album.......2005-09-13
True, like "Into Glory Ride" and "Sign of the Hammer", the origional releases suffered from less-than-perfect production. Not that the sound was terrible, just muddy. The remasters sound a thousand times better. Now, when I first heard this album and it's opening tracks 'Blood of my Ememies' and 'Each Dawn I Die', I was sure that it was recorded at the same time as the previous one. Or at least fast on the heels of it. But, alas, I was wrong. Although sounding similar, it is a bit of a faster paced album than "Glory" as is clearly evidenced by 'Kill With Power'. 'Hail to England' is the first song to pay tribute to their fans overseas after being mostly ignored in America. 'Army of Immortals' is another, yet more direct, ode to the loyal fans of Manowar who are truly like no other. The closing two tracks always blow me away. 'Black Arrows' continues the tradition started on "Battle Hymn" of a Joey DeMaio bass assault, proving once again why he should get far more recognition as a musician than he gets. This Piccolo Bass solo shows that a great bass player is a great guitarist first, then a bass player. This leads directly into 'Bridge of Death' that opens with an 8 string bass solo unlike anything I've ever heard before of since. An almost 9 minute opus about dealing with satan, there is not much I can say about it other that I must be listened to completely to know what it's really about.
Once again, Manowar made a record with lush musical abilty, story telling lyrics, and quite simply heavy metal in it's pure form.

A Masterpiece.......2007-06-20
Clear and crisp and played with vigor and heart. Mass call is of course Mess Call that someone spelled wrong. What worked for me is that I review four or five calls each night before bed. I hum them first and then listen to the call on the CD. The next day, I work out on the bugle until lip fatigue sets in.
Clear and simple.......2006-08-04
Single bugle calls, clear and simple-recognizable to this Navy/Marine Corps veteran. Also some army stuff if you desire that sort of thing. Quite a lot of quality stuff.

GREAT MUSIC !! however the lyrics are a little too DARK for me !.......2006-02-05
Ok - so I wore the t-shirt in high school when this one came out. This record/disc really is something ! If you are just wanting to hear some all out hellacious metal, then this one is for you. The 2 things I don't really like about "Hail to England"
are the length of the disc - which is short.....and very short !
But again, the quality is there, but there is just too much mention of Satan - plain and simple ! I'ld rather worship a barnyard full of pigs then "lucifer "......and I don't want to be on a first name basis either. Steel Warriors has almost every tune on this one and a bunch of other classics from the second release as well ( Into Glory Ride )
I am especially fond of Battle Hymns and Into Glory Ride - and you will be too if you decide to purchase them. The sign of the Hammer seems to be the rarest of them all and having ties with Jim Jones, I recommend that one too, if not for "Guyana" alone.
DEATH TO FALSE METAL ! and to Beezelbub for that matter !!!

THE GREATEST ALBUM OF THE GREATEST BAND.......2004-05-14
Hail, Brothers of Metal!
This is, in my opinion, the most criative and pleasurable Manowar's album. There are epic/sword-and-sorcery songs, satanic songs, a instrumental song and a exaltation to the Manowar's fans! Everything a Headbanger wants from a Heavy Metal album!
IT IS HEAVY METAL PURE AND DISTELLED! ENJOY IT!
Another early classic from Manowar!.......2003-08-28
I bought my copy of "Hail To England" back in May, kind on an impulse purchase really. As you can tell from my other reviews, I am a fan of Manowar and have many of their CDs. I wasn't particularly looking to buy a Manowar CD when I went into the local music/video/book place, but I saw it on the shelves, I'd heard good things about it, and I AM a Manowar fan, so I bought it. This is an example of one of those purchases that I have not regretted since.
The music on this CD has a raw, primal feel to it. It's kind of like they took the best songs from "Battle Hymns" ("Dark Avenger" and "Battle Hymn," to be exact) and built on the foundations of these songs, distilling the sounds and intensifying the lyrics. The result is awesome! "Blood Of My Enemies" could almost be titled as "Battle Hymn, Part Two," as the song structures of both songs are very similar. "Each Dawn I Die" is an intriguing track; I like the unique drum beat and Eric's vocals are nicely utilized here. "Kill With Power" is a definite Manowar staple. The title track is an early example of just how majestic Manowar can be, simply an awesome song. "Army Of The Immortals" is a tribute to all the dedicated Manowar fans of the world. This is one reason Manowar is so cool, they are definitely loyal to their fans and aren't afraid to show it! "Black Arrows" is another awesome display of Joey DeMaio's killer bass playing. I can understand how "Bridge of Death" could be disturbing to some. But let's face it: if you are a fan of Manowar, you should know that these guys are not for everyone. I for one think the song is great musically, a logical way to cap off the CD. As a whole, "Hail To England" is another classic from Manowar, and as such it should definitely be added to any Manowar fan's collection.
A Classic Heavy Metal Album.......2003-04-12
Manowar's 1984 release "Hail to England" is indeed a masterpiece, while bubblegum ... pop floods the airwaves,it's nice to know that I can reach for this cd."Blood of my enemies"
and "Kill with Power are killers,as well as every other track, even "Each Dawn I die"...Unfortunately,many still don't appreciate the glory of this particular song.Give it another chance. It's got great metal rythym, and Eric Adams uses that same low tone he uses in "Warriors of the World".Death to False Metal.
Manowar's best album.......2002-06-08
This is a great recording. Every song except one (Each Dawn I die) is fantastic/great. Its extremely rare to find a recording with so many top notch songs. The vocals are very powerful and clear. Bridge of Death is arguably the best song which starts slow and deep and then gets real heavy. Manowar did a great job of poking fun of satanic heavy metal in this song. This recording ranks as one of the best of all time in heavy metal.
Manowars Weakest Effort!!.......2002-03-02
I Love Manowar, but this album just doesn't get it
done! The only song on this album that really hits home
is "Blood of my Enemies", although I do like the axe-work
on "Black Arrows". The rest of the songs just don't have
the metal intensity that I'm used to hearing from Manowar.
Their raw talent does shine through in moments on this album,
but I think the album is poorly produced!
To review this album on the basis of their concepts or
image is a mistake, this is why the mainstream music industry
in America is so corrupted and fake! The universal message of
Manowars music is always the same and unless you are a true
musical person, you probably won't get it!!Even though this
is my least favorite by Manowar, I still think this is a page
in Manowars book that should be read!

Pompous, Loud, Beautiful, in other words - Manowar!.......2005-04-17
I love this album and think it is only second to "Fighting the World". Highly recommended!
This is the one to buy........2000-03-05
The whole Manowar thing maybe hard to stomach for some metal fans. But if you like heavy metal the heaviest it gets this is the one Manowar CD to buy, it has great songs/music/production and is heavy as hell. I find their other CD's do not contain enough good songs but this one stands ahead of the others.
great this is a classic manowar album pure heavy metal.......1999-06-23
this album is great from the first song to the final song bridge of death. which is the best song on the album.
Impressive Guys !!.......1998-07-03
I had the pleasure to fly back to the U.S. from Paris with MANOWAR this week, and I must say, as rock bands go, these have to be some of the nicest and friendliess guys that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Every person that approached any member of the band, was given the most absolute and warmest attention. Because of their attitude, I immediately went out and purchased there c.d., and I must say, I am 42 years old and love their music. Keep up the good work guys.
Very Interesting work,Very powerfull.......1998-06-14
Manowars third album,Very well done. The true warrior spirt shows in this one.Quite dark at times this is definately one to check out!
