All - Descendents style punk.......2006-12-10

Melodic punk from SoCal. Similar in style to All or the Descendents. Snotty vocals. And a fixation on porn stars. In fact, these guys did some soundtrack work for the Dark Brothers that is fantastic! Fuzzy instrumental rock. Check it out !

Awesome music, ridiculous pricing.......2006-05-11

The music is incredible. The work of Greg Allen with Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers and the Basement Jaxx really made the music grow. Taxi Doll is awesome, and should have left the 'indie' label by now. They are ready for big time.

My only complaint? This album is 8.99 @ CD Baby. Amazon: You usually have the best prices, but this time it's just a ripoff.

Fun, catchy dance/rock music.......2006-02-13

A good friend of mine on MySpace recently sent me a copy of Taxi Doll's EP "Waiting" after she gushed about them and I had checked them out on their MS page. I totally dug the samples I heard on their MS page and my friend sent me a copy of their cd. "Waiting" is 36 minutes of catchy dance/rock. Lead singer Dhana reminds me a bit of Gwen Stefani but nowhere as annoying as Gwen's voice can be. I read that the band's music had Garbage influences. Truthfully there is more of an r&b sound in the band's music. One of my favorite songs is "Soft Kill" which bears a striking resemblence to the now defunct techno/rock band Republica. If you listened carefully to the chorus, you can certainly envision former Republica singer Saffron. On "Waiting" there are five original tracks and three remixes.

The one original song I could not get into was "Give You More" but otherwise Taxi Doll really knows how to create good catchy dance/rock tunes. The remixes for "Look At What You Get". I actually think they improved the song. The production was a bit too polished and didn't have a live vibe except for the remixes. I wished there were more original songs but otherwise I totally dug "Waiting". It is a nice tasty morsel of what to expect from this talented band.
