Call it what you want: emo-core, alternative, sneaker metal...the Deftones seemed the most unlikely quartet to come out on Madonna's Maverick Records. I do not agree with the previous reviewer. The music should be enjoyed either on its own merit, or in the context of the movie. Without having seen the movie, you cannot make a judgment of the musical score as such. Read reviews from the other product page.
Uh...where's the funny?.......2007-08-02
With song titles like, "His Big Fat Butt Could Shield Us All" & "Thank You Boob Lady", I expected this to be another funny, witty, Simpsons album like Songs in the Key of Springfield. It's packed in a donut box for crying out loud! I bought this note unheard, sight unseen, without seeing the movie first, because I have really enjoyed prior Simpsons albums. But I hate to say here that I am disappointed. This is an actual movie score, as in classical music. If there is any humor here at all (besides the song titles) it is in the language of music.

are you kidding me?.......2007-08-02
I guess the Simpsons conglomerate didn't want to pay the extra cash to Green Day and The Turtles...and perhaps was against "giving away" Homer's Spidey Pig...because bewteen the movie and the promotional products Matt Groening and co. will only make ten zillion dollars..total screw job..long live Family Guy!
simpsons score.......2007-08-01
Even though parts of the score to The Simpsons Movie do get big, such as the opening orchestral version of Danny Elfman's theme, mostly it's kept much smaller in scale. This is nice to see both because of its contrast to other recent Zimmer scores, but also because it's very tastefully done in terms of telling the film's story in a more quirky and clever way.
In regards to other reviewers' complaints that there is no Homer singing Spiderpig on the CD, I found the CD version funnier. In the theater where I saw the film, everyone laughed at the version of Homer singing it, but not nearly as much as they laughed at the end credits CD version, which was longer and more unexpected.
the good german.......2007-08-01
How could you not love this album?!? Hooray for The Simpsons !!! p.s. The donut smells divine !
So a Green Day track would grant this album 4 more stars? Please..........2007-07-31
The soundtrack genre of music is actually two sub-genres. There are soundtrack releases that contain the pop/rock/vocal singles from the movie, and then there are those that feature a composer's actual scoring of the film -- usually instrumental and symphonic in orchestration. Some CD's contain both kinds of works, but there are cases where there's a clear divide. There are, for example, two different releases of the Shrek soundtrack: one subtitled "Music from the Original Motion Picture" and another subtitled "Original Motion Picture Score".
Those who complain that the Green Day tracks or Homer's interlude are not on this CD simply aren't in touch with instrumental film scores. And that's fine as a matter of personal preference, but that's no reason to dismiss the album as a whole.
If you like film scores written in a late Romantic idiom (or most of Hans Zimmer's other work for that matter), you'll probably also like this CD. It showcases how Zimmer can aptly score all kinds of films, like Spanglish , Gladiator, and everything in between.
a disapointment.......2007-07-30
yeah- its just a soundtrack. Now normally I like them, but I am so disapointed that there was not the Green day music, nor Homer singing spider pig, that I am very bummed out.
Oh, and that I could have bought the version in the metal doughnut for only a few bucks more....
and yes- the bonus content is totally bogus, and all in all I have to say this is the first item relating to the movie (to include the ads) I have been disapointed with. It feels like a total afterthopught, when everything eolse was so well planned out and cool.

"Stepping," or "step-dancing," is a high-energy, wildly entertaining African-American dance style that's been blazing across traditionally black fraternities and sororities for decades. STOMP THE YARD is a film featuring acclaimed singers NE-YO and CHRIS BROWN that pivots on a national stepping competition. Rivalry and brotherhood drive the action, but music is what makes this story move. That music is captured on STOMP THE YARD: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK. The disc boasts music not only from NE-YO ("Sign Me Up") and Chris Brown ("Poppin'"), but also THE ROOTS FEATURING MALIK B. AND PORN ("In the Music"); GHOSTFACE KILLAH ("The Champ"); ROBERT RANDOLPH AND THE FAMILY BAND ("Ain't Nothing Wrong With That"); E-40 FEATURING THE FEDERATION ("Go Hard or Go Home"); UNK ("Walk It Out"); CUT CHEMIST FEATURING EDAN AND MR. An Innovative Thrash Metal Record.......2007-06-28
This debut album from the Deftones is a raw, aggressive mix of thrashing guitars and hollow dyna vocals. The album doesn't have many soft spots and plays through like watching a horror movie on Halloween.
Much more stripped down, with less texture and guitar layerings than subsequent Deftones offerings---Adrenaline is rooted more as a hardcore punk record than anything---albeit a smart and provacative punk record.
This was the album that introduced the world to one of the most innovative and beautiful hard rock bands of our time, introduced a new style of soft to loud and a vocal that's as brutal as it is beautiful.
It's hard to skip over any tracks on Adrenaline--but the real standouts have to be: root, 7 words, engine number 9, fireal and birthmark.
Deftones At Their Rawest, and Most Heaviest.......2006-12-21
First of all, I have to say if Dr.Sniv "Robotnik's Former Henchman" doesn't like Deftones, that's just fine with me. Just because he doesn't care for a band that I like doesn't mean that I'm going to stop being his Amazon friend. I respect his decision, I'm seriously cool with that (we all need some criticism every once in a while), and that's the way it should be. Well anyways onto the album, "Adrenaline" is the Deftones's debut album, and it's their most rawest and most heaviest release to date. Every song on here (minus the bonus track "Fist" I think that's the name of that track) is full of pure raw aggression. This album is also my 2nd favorite Deftones album with "Around the Fur" being my all time favorite Deftones album. Chino Moreno's vocals skills are just awesome. He can sing, he can scream and shout, he can rap, he can do it all. Stephen Carptenter's guitar riffs are great. They not only pack a serious punch, but they're also downright catchy as well. Chi Cheng's plays great bass lines that are very ominous, and Abe Cunningham's drumming while not fast, but it's still great, and it really hits the tone on this album. The first track "Bored" is an instant classic, and one of the best songs on this album. But my favorite song on here definately has to be "7 Words". This song is very heavy and very mosh worthy, and that heavy shout along chorus in which Chino madly shouts out is just addicting. My other favorite songs on here inclued "Minus Blindfold", "Birthmark", "Engine No. 9", "Nosebleed", "Lifter" "One Weak", and "Root". Anyways, if you're a Deftones fan, metal, rock, or just good music in general, than by all means, you must own this album. Later Dudes!!
Jeremy's song ratings:
1. Bored - 5/5
2. Minus Blindfold - 5/5
3. One Weak - 5/5
4. Nosebleed - 5/5
5. Lifter - 5/5
6. Root - 5/5
7. 7 Words - My favorite song. 10/5
8. Birthmark - 5/5
9. Engine No. 9 - 5/5
10. Fireal - 5/5
11. Fist (Bonus Track) - 4/5
An Honest Debut for the Lost Generation.......2006-10-13
This big-label debut from a Sacramento-based Deftones always takes me ten years back, when I went to high school. But despite that, the album still sounds very original, and unfortunately for the music industry - very unlike the stuff you hear today. Their style is impossible to describe, because all descriptions fall short of actually hearing the band. Combining the emotional openness of pop, the teen rage of punk, and the street-smart culture of hip-hop, the Deftones painted a perfect soundscape for the bored youth of sunny suburban wastelands. Chino Moreno masterfully navigates his voice through a range emotions of a growing soul - from innocent love to dark fantasies, from hope to despair, from vulnerability to cruelty. Angelic soft whispers mutate into demonic screams, and hip-hop-influenced verses give way to Depeche Mode-like melodic choruses.
Musically Deftones sound quite hard, but not in a boring kind of way. Their music is fun, groovy, and has a great sense of beat. Bassist Chi plays creative, almost jazz-like lines, Abe Cunningham provides effective drums, while Steve Carpenter very masterfully blasts with simple but loud and chilling riffs. DJ Frank Delgado enhances the sound with sparse atmospheric effects and scratches. The whole band sound is really an attempt to unite a variety of cultural influences so common in the California Central Valley, and it pays off very well. The production could be more refined, but at the same time the roughness adds more fun to the first public effort.
The start of something wonderful..........2006-08-09
I love the Deftones...can you tell? This is probably one of their finest moments, although I don't believe they've put out a single album, track, whatever that I'm not impressed with, as far as consistency this is one of the best albums they've done (although Around the Fur and the recent ST album are up there...and I do love White Pony) every track here is just brilliant. Someone mentioned that Chino's lyrics are contrite and uninspired. BULL!!! Chino is one of the most original lyricist's out there...just listen to the lyrical mastery on this album...but I will admit that he's grown so much over the course of his career. Around the Fur alone shows a lot of maturity in lyrics. This album to me is all about the music, all about the powerful riffs and pounding bass lines. Songs like the opener 'Bored' made Deftones a welcome addition to nu-metal...but it's songs like '7 Words' 'Fireal' 'Fist' and 'Nosebleed' that keep me a devoted fan. LOVE CHINO! LOVE DEFTONES! LOVE MUSIC!
These guys give Slayer a run for their money!!.......2006-07-19
Yeah, this is an uncompromised metal assault!! Chino Moreno's gruesome lyrics and voice make Lord Worm look like Celine Dion!! The two guitarists shred and solo so fast, they give Yngwie Malmsteen a run for his money!! The drummer drums so fast yet stays on cue so greatly, he makes Dave Lombardo and Pete Sandoval duck for cover!!
As you can see, I'm joking. Chino has little baby squirel nuts, hence is super weak and annoying voice. His lyrics about "I hate my parents, my daddy touched my privates" tripe is nothing new, and nothing pleasing to the ears. The guitarists are very bad, they're downtuned and they only do powerchords and don't solo (because they can't). The drummer is very basic, nothing special. Bass? Can't hear it.
Want a REAL metal band from the 90's? Go for Nevermore. Warrel Dane has more talent on his pinky tip than Chino does in his entire body.

Album Description
Chingon is muscular rock and roll with a shot of top shelf tequila and the expansion of Robert Rodriguez's creative empire. This album embodies the same intensity as Rodriguez's films and features special guests such as punk rock cult icon Tito Larriva, Lone Star state chanteuse Patricia Vonne, and the sultry actress Selma Hayek. "Mexican Spaghetti Western" fuses exciting Mexican iconic imagery with the explosive touch of rock and roll done electric Mariachi style. For the first time, songs from Rodriguez's soundtracks are paired with never before heard compositions onto one CD.
Customer Reviews:
A CD You Can Enjoy Often.......2007-06-21
I had searched & waited for a Chingon CD since the Kill Bill movies showcased Chingon. I was not disappointed.
To draw a more critical eye... I would have enjoyed more songs like the terrific, UPTEMPO, opener, Se Me Paro.
Overall, the tone of the CD is rather soft & mellow. The amazing guitar(s) working together, however, create a very rich sound. This is definately not a dull CD, and lends itself to multiple playbacks. I've played it alot in the couple weeks I've owned this CD, and I have not habituated to it yet.
Heh, I have no understanding of Spanish, but Malaguena Salerosa is beautiful & perhaps the best song on the CD, Siente Mi Amor is close behind.
Does the CD have filler??? Yeah, but some might enjoy the two duds. The english lyrics of Bajo Sexto (track 7) and last song, intrumental Cuka Rocka (track 11).... Neither belong or seem to fit on this CD. Bajo Sexto is a fine song, but they should have kept it all Spanish. Cuka Rocka is clearly just filler and just does not work as a follow up act to impressive track 10 (Siente Mi Amor)
Someone fluent in Spanish would be a better reviewer... My lack of Spanish gives the vocals, for me, a more abstract expression. Maybe that is why I can listen to the CD so much.
As far as personal bias... I really enjoy great guitar work found in blues and rock from artists as diverse as David Gogo's electric & acoustic work to Satriani, Petrucci, Dave Martone, or working bands like Joe Bonamassa or Albert Cummings.

This album is actually pretty good. It's just it didn't include that many hits!Sure, all the songs on here are hits, but it really doesn't do Audio Adrenaline much justice. It barely featured songs from the debut-some kind of zombie period. It should have been 2 disks with debut-underdog on one and Lift-Until my heart caves in on the other. If I had been in charge of the making of this album it would have looked like this.

Awesome way to say "Adios".......2006-10-02
For me, I've never been really big on Audio Adrenaline. Most of the songs on their albums have been hit or miss so it was never worth it for me to own an album of theirs. Even their old greatest hits album didn't work for me, but not this one. This one's chunky. It has the best of the best of their songs (minus "Dirty" from Worldwide) and what better way can one say "Goodbye" while going out in a "Blaze of Glory"? I reccomend this cd to fans and "hit or miss" folk like myself.

Album Description
The affirmative overtones of the CD's title only serve to underscore the pride the band feels with the end result; that it's the best record they've made in a decade-plus career. While wanting to create a cathartic experience for fans, this release also comes close to capturing that elusive live show magic. Sister Hazel have sold over 2 million albums, have six top 30 singles, have a certified platinum album "Somewhere More Familiar", and a certified gold release, "Fortress".
Customer Reviews:
Absolutely Awesome!!.......2007-03-01
Sister Hazel has done it again. This is a great album with something for everybody. Their first release off the album, Mandolin Moon, is a fun song and completely addicting! The thing I love about Sister Hazel albums is that you can listen to the entire album without having to skip over songs because they're all fantastic. Hey Hey, Shame, Hello It's Me are some of my favorites....along with Everything Else Disappears, a wonderfully poetic song about meeting your soulmate. I highly adivise you to check out this CD. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
Best album yet.......2007-02-24
I love this disc. Cannot play it enough and I think Sister Hazel is just taking off. Stay tuned!
Good but could have been great.......2007-01-10
This album is good, but not as good as their other cds that I listen to religiously (chasing daylight, self titled, somewhere more familiar, and fortress). I'd honestly give it a 4/5, but the reviews are really biased by the extreme fans. There seems to be a general reduction in the instrumental complextiy and vocal variety/harmonies from their past albums -- lots of basic guitar parts and little vocal variety. I know that they are better musicians than this! Each song starts out good, but then don't really go anywhere. The refrains always seem to disappoint and are not catchy -- they just seem 'off'. With a little more work, I think that all of the songs could have been great, instead of just consistently pretty good. Also considering the poor mixing (see other reviews), it seems like this album had great potential but was rushed, perhaps for a holiday release. It's worth buying, but not as your first sister hazel cd.
Sister Hazel's best album yet.......2006-12-28
I wanted to wait until we really listened to this album to review it. The jury's back and this album is awesome - their best ever.
In our family of six musicians, each one of us has a different favorite song. I love "Meet me in the memory" with words that resonate and a melody that plays itself over in my head all day. The kids love "Tear by tear", a melancholy story of loss and depression, with un underlying uplifting message. They love the music and "words that are like a poem."
"Beautiful high" is addictive and the harmonies engaging. I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about in criticizing the harmonies or the mixing of this album. We just don't see it.
This is another great by one of the great rock bands of our time - discover Sister Hazel before the rest of the world does. If you are used to buying albums where you find yourself skipping tracks, or feeling let down after the first 3 songs, this album will shock you with its depth. You'll be hooked through to the end. If you don't own any Hazel yet, this is a great place to start. Then work your way backwards with Chasing Daylight and Fortress. What's not to love about Sister Hazel? It's no surprise this album is at the top of the alternative rock lists right now - this may finally be their breakthrough.
All I know is I LOVE being with you..........2006-12-19
Sister Hazel has turned out some fantastic, yet little known, music since "Somewhere More Familiar..." was released. As they themselves have said, Sister Hazel has gone "back to the basics" with "Absolutely" by returning home to Florida to write and record demos and indeed, the feelings from their earlier albums come back into play, only better this time! Upon putting the album into the CD player, it's instantly easy, relaxing, and enjoyable to listen to. The lyrics are strong and honest. The instrumental work is feeling and comfortable. The two combined create an album that is full of emotion and beauty and familiarity. Going back to basics doesn't mean going backward at all in this case. It's coming back after experiencing a different part of life and appreciating what they've always had and always loved and creating something amazing. It's that loved, classic sound of Sister Hazel that has alaways set them apart that comes through in "Absolutely".
Personal favorites: "Hey Hey", "Truth Is", "Beautiful High", "Mandolian Moon", and "Little Black Heart". "Little Black Heart" is the hidden track is definitely worth it.
Also, Sister Hazel recently appeared a survey on the website Rate The Music, which is pretty fantastic considering it's a website that sends out surveys asking people to rate popular music. Good things to come for Sister Hazel...

As befits a cult TV show about three sisters who happen to be powerful witches, this collection of tracks associated with Charmed is heavy on the alt-girls, starting with the mother of them all, Liz Phair. Her "Baby Got Going" (from 1998's undervalued whitechocolatespaceegg) got a modernized Bo Diddley strut that gets things going on a jaunty foot. What's weirder is that the others--Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Natalie Imbruglia, Beth Orton, Eddie Reader, and Conjure One featuring Sinéad O'Connor--tend to lean more heavily toward a soulful, slightly reserved singer-songwriter mode: the girls don't really rock on this soundtrack, which is kinda odd since the witches themselves kick butt. Thankfully, one of the show's own stars comes to the rescue. Tucked in the middle of the CD is "Superfabulous" by trance star BT, with sultry guest vocals by Charmed's own Rose McGowan--who, based on this track, could have a great career recording Euro-style dance-floor stompers if she ever gets tired of acting. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Charmed.......2007-01-20
My daughter loves these girls. She even got me hooked on them. I wish they were still on with new shows
The Final Chapter.......2006-08-10
One of the better soundtracks in the market now, Charmed: The Final Chapter features more little-known artistes than well-known ones. Most of the songs were featured in the show itself, and if you are thinking this album to be very rockish, or very angsty, or very New-Age, or pop, you are half-right.
This album combines a lot of elements of different genres to produce a new album that is strong and makes a statement. 'Pinch Me' and 'Bell, Book and Candle' are some of the more memorable tracks, but do not forget that other hits from Sarah McLachlan also prove to be worth the time.
'Superfabulous' would be a new hit that you would not expect, but will like it tremendously. Overall the songs in the album bring out the essence of the show Charmed, and even if you are not a fan, listening to the music will just brighten up your day and soften your mood. Good music for the final season of Charmed.
Surprisingly Good.......2006-07-28
You wouldn't necessarily expect a "Charmed" soundtrack to be so good, but it is! I'm a fan of the show, not a huge fan, but I think anyone who watches "Charmed" probably also likes the music on the show. Not every song on this soundtrack has been featured in an episode (to my recollection, anyway), but they've all got that contemporary pop/rock girl power sound like the music often featured on the show. The best tracks are those by Liz Phair, Collective Soul, Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Natalie Imbruglia, Beth Orton and Eddie Reader. "Bell, Book & Candle" was the song that played during Prue's funeral. I had always wondered what song that was (it's a little haunting and sad), so I'm glad they included it on the soundtrack. The Collective Soul song is particularly good and in parts is a very beautiful song. If you're a fan of the show, if you liked the previous soundtracks or if you just like this genre of music in general, I would highly recommend this soundtrack.
CHARMED--THE FINAL CHAPTER.......2006-07-25
GREAT SOUNDTRACK, Some of the best artists were added into a collection that I know everyone will enjoy, from Natalie Imbruglia to The Barenaked Ladies & one of my favorites Beth Orton. If your a music lover & have a taste for different music, then this soundtrack is for you!
Charmed Fan Or Not, Still A Great Soundtrack........2006-07-21
Whether your a Charmed fan or not, you must admit they have one of the best selections of music. From their theme song to their weekly songs after the opening.
For this final selection, they have picked songs form unknowns, up and coming artistes and some familiar artistes like Sarah McLachlan and Liz Phair, who has been on previous Charmed soundtracks.
A real treat for Charmed fans, is that Rose McGowan, has a track on this cd, which makes this paticular selection more personal, and more "Charmed".
It's true that some songs don't really fit in with the theme of these songs, but hey, they're still great songs.
When listening to some of the songs, you might just recall some scenes from the show. For example, Weight Of The World by Chantal Kreviazuk, I personally remember seeing a scene of the Golden Gate Bridge, flying past. Which is good, because that's what soundtrack should do, remind you of the show.
Although I do wish that they had added the instrumental, the one they play end of every show.
I think the producers did a good job on this soundtrack and more props to them.
Finally, Charmed fan or not, love it or hate it, you should still buy it. If it's not for the show, just buy it for the songs! Defiantly worth your money.
