Another great trip down the MFU memory lane.......2005-10-19
Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.
My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.
The best of the three Double CDs ORIGINAL soundtrack release.......2005-07-12
Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.
Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.
And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.
Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.
This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.
Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.
So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

Guitar madness! Start your Hoey Here........2005-01-23
If you don't alread know Gary, classifying the music on this CD and most of Gary's stuff isn't hard -- it's classic, mostly instrumental hard rock. Gary himself is often compared with Joe Satriani or Steve Vai and clearly Joe has been a big influence on Gary--but so has Dick Dale! Still, Gary's no slave to any of his teachers and mostly he just ends up sounding like himself!
So, if you're new to Gary but hard rock guitar is something you like then there's a good chance you'll like at least some of his stuff. Try the samples here. This CD is very representative of Hoey's style and skills--it also happens to be a personal favorite in those I own of his. I think if you're looking to sample Gary this would be a good place to start.
Bug Alley shows clearly Gary's enormous talent and technical mastery across both Hoey originals and covers, and covering a wide range of genres. Of special note: the CD opens with "Desire" built on a classical theme (and it works!); zips thru a terrific cover of "Black Magic Woman" (one of the rare vocals, his voice is competent if nothing special); takes a lighter, bouncier swing thru the title track (a Hoey original); lays back a bit for the fantastic "Peace Pipe" track; another vocal cover follows, this time Bob Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody"; and eventually we get to a hard rocker version of the old drummer standard, "Wipeout", of course in Hoey's version his guitar gets a much bigger share of the fireworks!
All-in-all this is a great CD that any fan of the hard rock guitar should enjoy.
Yeah!.......2004-09-25
Like many others, I first heard of Hoey for his Christmas songs. I bought 2 of his Ho Ho Hoey CDs and look forward to the holidays just so I can play them (The rest of the holiday stuff is a pain in the ___). Having never heard anything else of his, it took me several years to take a chance on one of his regular CDs. I finally had to try, so I bought this one. Wow. What a great CD. I like the instrumentals best and I wish he didn't have the voice part on Yeah, but it's an outstanding song anyway.
Another great guitarist.......2003-03-04
This has turned into one of my favourite CD's and I will buy everything else released by this outstanding talent. The musik can take you away on some of the more lay back tunes and bring tears to your eyes. The heavier material will make a dead man dance and the variety on this CD is brilliant. The definitive version of BLACK MAGIC WOMAN is worth the price alone and it is not even the best track on this outstanding CD. Nothing negative to be added, pure pleasure and inspiration if you are a guitar player. BUY IT NOW, everyone I've played it to is now a fan, despite no one having heard of him before.
Check It Out Now!.......1999-11-28
Pretty good! I dont have any complaints. Its a very soild CD
Good solid rock for the most part.......1999-11-27
Gary really rocks out on the first few tracks. The Black Magic Woman cover alone is worth the price of the cd.

Bug Alley Rocks!.......2002-09-15
This CD is a good instrumental rock album. The musicianship is top notch. Most of the tunes are very good too. This is not as heavy as many of the others in this genre, which to me is a good thing. I did not give it five stars because a couple of the tunes are a tad weak.

Shades of the Manhattan Transfer!.......2006-06-30
Bug Alley is a group consisting of 2 gals and 3 guys blowing cool mellow vocal tones very reminiscent of a young Manhattan Transfer group before they gained the experience and exposure that made them probably the top jazz vocal group today. For an effort produced in 1980, Bug Alley is surprisingly listenable if one likes the "vocalese" jazz style. Combining eclectic elements of jazz, pop, scat, ballad, ragtime, big band, and doo wop, this group moves rather fluidly from one catchy tune to the next. Unfortunately they did not have the exposure of some
groups of similar style today like the Manhattan Transfer, the Ritz, or the New York Voices. Karen Young, Liz Tansey, Steve Cole, David Thompson, and Andre White as Bug Alley get the feet tapping and the hands clapping. The name Bug Alley is reputed to come from the Prohibition era, where it became something of a warning to individuals in establishments who were drinking illegally that the police were raiding and that it was time to "split." The group's name, in accordance with the meaning of "Bug Alley" certainly epitomizes the mood and environment of the early, jumping, swinging, speak-easys. Well worth the listen!
