One of Uriah Heep's finest.......2003-03-17
John Lawton recorded three studio albums ("Firefly", "Innocent victim" and "Fallen angel") with Uriah Heep, and they are all very good. Lawton's voice is powerful and they way he's singing is perfectly suited for hard rock. The material on "Innocent victim" is strong, melodic and sometimes influenced by gospel. This album is clearly not the world's most known record but it is certainly a gem for all of us who like hard rock from the 1970's. The approach is different from the bands early days when they often had a tendency to be too loud, too noisy, too rattling.
Classic Heep Album.......2003-03-02
John Lawton's Strong and Powerful voice on this his second Album with Uriah Heep was distintive from a more Melodious and Hamornic David Byron, but the change did make this a Fantastic Uriah Heep album.CHOICES, is the greatest song I've ever heard in my life was written by Jack Williams (not a band member). Free Me ,is by far Uriah's biggest chart topper. 1977 Firefly and this one are underated albums but go down as Classic Heep.

Album Description
"Tipping The Scales" is one of the hardest hitting, most in-your-face releases of the summer of 2001. No Innocent Victim is an unstoppable unification of traditional hardcore converged with the brutality of metal and new school hardcore. They bridge and reinforce the gap between bands such as Sick Of It All and Hatebreed. Available on CD only.

Its Good.......2004-10-27
No Innocent Victom IS FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!! How if you were a Hardcore fan not like these guys! THEY RULE!! Although the cd is only like 22 mins long its still awesome! Now that they are going to Return from Retirement I think there gonna pick up right were they left off in 2001. The album is gut wrenching and its so cool how the vocals assalt you like a knife. Check this stuff out!
Great Hardcore, but not enough.......2001-09-09
I've been an NIV fan for a while and this album did not dissapoint from the musical aspect. All 11 songs are hard and heavy and bring everything I've come to expect from NIV. However, the thing that keeps me from giving this album 5 stars is its length. Clocking in at 22 minutes, it is undoubtably the shortest album I've ever paid ... for. I suppose the argument could be made that instead of putting in a bunch of filler, NIV opted for quality over quantity. While this may be true, I think all of us want more than 22 minutes for our hard earned cash. Definately some good music here but lets tack on 15 or 20 minutes more next time.
West Coast Hardcore at its finest!!!.......2001-06-03
The boys from San Diego are back, & it doesn't get any better than this, folks! If you like old-school raw power & thunderous "meaty" production, this one's for you. I have been a fan of N.I.V. for a long time & I have enjoyed each release thoroughly. Each one has its own personality, but they never stray from their overall sound. Fans of old school hardcore (sick of it all, minor threat) and new school (earth crisis, boy sets fir) should appreciate this gem! The best point of all...these guys aren't ashamed of their faith in Christ. They speak the truth with conviction. Open your hearts & minds, buy this CD (and the other ones) and prepare to hear some of the best hardcore EVER performed this side of eternity!

INNOCENT VICTIM UNDERRATED.......2007-01-23
URIAH HEEP'S INNOCENT VICTIM IS A VERY GOOD
ALBUM AND SEEMS TO BE OVERLOOKED. WHILE IT'S
NOT DEMONS AND WIZARDS IT HAS IT'S PLACE IN
THE TOP 5 ALUMS THEY PUT OUT. JOHN LAWTON WAS
A GREAT SINGER BUT OF COURSE HAD A DIFFERENT
STYLE SO THE MUSIC HAD TO CHANGE BUT IT STILL
HAS A FEEL OF A URIAH HEEP ALBUM. SONGS LIKE
FLYIN' HIGH, FREE N' EASY AND THE CHOICE ARE
WORTH GETTING IT FOR. HIGHLY RECOMMENED.

One of the best Spirit-filled HxCx records ever!.......2004-08-09
This record is amazing! Even though the mix is mediocre, the album is intense and passionate. NIV is one of the greatest HxCx bands of all time and this CD demonstrates that with a powerful line up of songs. "Let Down" and "Undone" are some of the stand out tracks. Jason Moody's bellowing howl will stomp in your brain cavity as song after song tears through your ears like a runaway train. A true gem!
This niv album is great it shows how hard christian music is.......1999-06-01
This is the good hard core music to listen to. It is a little more punky than the newest Flesh and blood, but still has the hard, heavy break downs and intence sing alongs, highly recomended!
Noncompromising Eastcost-Old-School Hardcore at it's best!.......1999-01-30
There is a lot of power here inside, so this is not for wimps. Heavy lyrics and strong shout-it-out chorusses. If you like the old power of hardcore, like in the CBGB's days, then get this CD. Is this to strong then you're to weak! Don't miss this radical lyrics. Favorites: Track 1,2,5

Heep starts down the commercial path.......2004-09-28
Innocent Victim was the followup to Firefly and the 2nd of 3 John Lawton era albums.
This album takes a more commercial approach than Firefly. One can't deny the success of such of move as this era of Uriah Heep was the biggest in many non - English speaking countries. This album had a more guitar oriented rock sound than Firefly.
Despite the commercial direction of this album, there is still a couple of gems traditional Heep fans will enjoy (Illusion/Masqueraide, The Dance, The River, Free 'n" Easy)
Song by song review.
Keep on Rollin - Sounds like the Doobie Brothers of the early 1970's. Not bad, but doesn't stand out.
Flying High - See above. Very similar to Keep on Riding.
Roller - The first Trevor Bolder song in his long career with Heep. This has a reggae feel to it. More experimental than the first two.
Free 'n' Easy - Uriah Heep released the wrong single with the word "Free" in the title in late 1977. This song should have been released instead of Free Me. This is the hardest and fastest song on the album. The twin guitar attack on this track is one of the highlights of the album.
Illusion - The most progressive rock sounding track on the album. This has a soft spacey feel to it. The only thing that is lacking is that the second part of the song is cut off. That is retified with the complete version of Illusion/Masquerade later in the album.
Free Me. - The biggest hit for Uriah Heep in many non English speaking European countries. Has a country rock sound and feel oot it that is similar to the early 7's Eagles.
Cheat 'n' Lie. - A southern rock song. Sound like it was recorded by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hacket, Blackfoot (the group song writer Ken Hensley would join once he left Heep).
The Dance. - A return to the mystical lyrics of the early 70's. This has a reggae feel to it like Roller. One of the better tracks on the album. John Lawton sounds like Ronnie James Dio on this and several other tracks on this album.
Choices. - One of the best tracks on this album. This song has it all. It starts out slowly and then rises high in its crescendal with Lawton's vocal's and Lee Kerslake's drum work. Great lyrics as well.
Illusion/Masquerade - Why this song was never included in it's entirity on the original album is beyond me. This song combines two different songs like "Paradide/The Spell" on Demons & Wizards. Masquerade is a progressive track featuring accoustic guitars. Very nice competition.
The River - The best song on the album. Wonder why this was left off the original album as well. This song could have been performed by the Dio era Rainbow. It has a similar sound. The bass playing of Trevor Bolder is the highlight of this song. The guitar work in this song has to be heard to believe.
Put Your Music Where Your Mouth Live - A hard guitar oriented rock song that is not polished enough for an album. A practice session demo.
There is also live versions of Cheat 'n' Lie, "Free Me", and "Free 'n' Easy" The highlight is "Free Me". The live version has much more life to it than the studio version.
Overall not a bad album. It starts the irreversible commercial direction of Heap, but has enough jems on it to compensate for that.

Tougher than you..........2002-01-04
I'm giving this CD 5 stars even though I think the cover artwork is a little bit silly. This is brutal, floor-punching, lace-up-those-boots hardcore at its best. A very welcome switch from many current hardcore bands' attempts to sound evil and scary (though some of them do it very well). Give this a listen if you want to hear some definitive hardcore. The more recent "Tipping the Scales" is also great. These guys are currently one of my favorites...
I WASN'T DISAPOINTED AT ALL.......2001-05-20
NIV'S 3rd cd has a great hardcore sound it rocks star to finish and if your fan you must check out this cd i hope rescue will reisuse the first 2 cds though cause they were even better than this one but NIV fans need check this 1 out anyway
Some of The Haviest Metal.......2000-10-14
This CD is for that person that likes real HEAVY METAL this CD is non-stop screaming. These band may not be so popular but try them out they are some of the best I've heard. If U like Slipknot U will love "No Innocent Victim"
Wow.......2000-08-17
I have always been a fan of NIV, but this release is by far the greatest. Fast, furious, and heavy, this release never stops moving. Jason's vocals are much more brutal on this album. The one dissapointment is the lower volume for the bass. However, this album is one that every hardcore fan should own. I'm excited about NIV's chance to spread the gospel to those who need it most with their signing to victory records. This release should take them far as it is one of the best hardcore releases to come out in the world for quite some time.
WOW...NIV at their best.......2000-07-12
I have all of NIV's albums, and this one is by far the best one they have put out, songs like "CEB", "My Beliefs" and "All For The Color" are awesome hardcore.

I KINDA LIKE IT!.......2002-04-03
Tis a pity that this album was ignored in the U.S. when it came
out, for it's actually quite an enjoyable album. Of the albums
they did in the latter part of the 70's, I think this was their
best and I also think it was their best album since DEMONS AND
WIZARDS. It's not one of their heavier albums, but in terms of
songs it's one of their more consistent albums. There is only one
dud on the album and that's the funky tune ROLLER.The album gets
off to a very upbeat and happy start with KEEP ON RIDING, which
has some sunny lyrics and a very cool bass line from TREVOR BOL-
DER. FREE AND EASY shows that HEEP hadn't completely abandoned
their heavy metal roots; it's a catchy song that outrocks almost
everything else on this album and FIREFLY. CHEAT AND LIE is
HEEP's second attempt at country rock and it's a gem of a song,
with a very memorable lead guitar line from MICK BOX. The song's
upbeat music and vocals are in complete contrast to the lyrics.
Is KEN HENSLEY happy that his girlfriend cheats and lies? FREE
ME is the HEEP at their poppiest, but that's okay because it's
really quite an enjoyable and sing-alongable song! The rest of this isn't quite as great, but it's still highly listenable.
JOHN LAWTON sings his powerful lungs out on this album.
RECOMMENDED!
on their way down.......2000-01-19
On Innocent Victim, it was clear to many that the band was running out of steam. Principle songwriter Ken Hensley's name only appeared on half the tunes, and compared to his earlier work, none of them were really very good. However, some of the other songs were quite good. Check out the funk of "Roller" (you can tell by the bass that Trevor Bolder had something to do with this one), and although it doesn't really work, "The Dance" finds the group dabbling in pseudo-reggae. The best tracks on this album were "Roller," the rocker "Free n' Easy," and the album's final track, "Choices"--a song that easily ranks among the group's best material. The new CD has two bonus tracks. The highlight is the unedited version of "Illusion/Masquerade." On the original album, "Illusion" ended the first side. Due to time restrictions, the vinyl version didn't have room for "Masquerade." Now you can hear it the entire `medley' the way it was intended. The booklet also includes both the US and UK cover art.

Subpar for this band.......1999-10-17
One of the weaker efforts put out by Uriah Heep in the 1970s. Although performances continue to be competent and have even tightened up some from the previous release Firefly, the songwriting and conception suddenly seems to have slipped a little. Not Uriah Heep at its best overall, although this album will grow on you. The closer, "Choices" does rank as one of the band's finest lyrical moments.
