Meh.......2007-07-13
Just another fallen Quiet Riot album.
Only Stand Out for me is Red Alert, everything else, is diamal at best.
"We're a sign of the times, havin' fun ain't no crime...".......2007-04-09
To my understanding the band was rushed to get a follow up album for 'Metal Health' out quickly. 'Condition Critical' was the result. This is a solid effort from start to finish. 'Sign of the Times' kicks it off and delivers a shot across the bow to get your attention. I always thought of this as a great album to play at parties because the entire album fits the occasion. 'Winners Take All' is a good ballad and anthem, 'Mama We're All Crazee Now' is a great cover, 'Party All Night' is a metal classic, and I liked the one-two punch of 'Scream and Shout' and 'Red Alert' on the second side, or should I later on the DISC (I'm showing my age there). The rest of the songs fit in nicely and do not disappoint. I know 'Metal Health' is an awesome album, set the bar, and lead the metal charge back in the day, but I like 'Condition Critical' just a bit more...
The end of their fifteen minutes of fame.......2006-07-24
Quiet Riot released Condition Critical in the summer of 1984. Their previous album, Metal Health, would go to #1 and give the band their two biggest hits, "(Bang Your Head) Metal Health" and a cover of Slade's "Cum on Feel the Noize." The album's success ultimately paved the way for the L.A. metal scene as several metal bands, most notably Motley Crue and Ratt, would achieve similar success with their next albums, Shout at the Devil and Out Of the Cellar respectively. However, while both of these bands would be able to maintain their momentum for their next several albums, Quiet Riot's fortunes began to fall with their very next album, Condition Critical. Released shortly after the title track slid off the charts, the album is an unfocused affair. And the freefall would continue after this as their next albums, QR III and their self-titled fourth album would be progressively worse.
The album actually starts out strong with "Sign of the Times", which while similar in structure to "Metal Health", is very good. "Mama Weer All Crazee Now", another Slade cover tune, would be the first single and is also very good, albeit not on the level of the original. "Party All Night" is a great tune and its accompanying video, which would be considered cheesy these days, was pretty cool also. After this, the album is hit and miss. While anthems like "Stomp Your Hands (Clap Your Feet)" and "Red Alert" are catchy, "(We Were) Born to Rock", "Scream and Shout", and "Bad Boy" are mediocre at best. As for the remaining tracks, "Winners Take All" is a half-hearted power ballad that doesn't touch the ones on Metal Health while the slow grinding title track doesn't work despite having its moments. All told, Condition Critical is a very inconsistent album that would start the band's swift downward spiral.
quite riot rocks!!!.......2005-10-25
Man this group is way before my time but all you people that can't dig really good metal are missing out. I first heard this stuff in my uncle's trans-am with the windows down and his girlfriend yelling at him: turn that down! And the more she yelled at him to turn it down the more he turned the volume nob to the right!
"Cum on feel the noize" is eaisly the greatest rock song ever wrote in history! Period.
This is like rock n roll- totally. Don't miss out and dig it at loud volume and make your life a party 365 day of the year!! Metal forever!
this is a definite classic........2005-06-28
Quiet Riot's 84 release is a combination of metal and good times. standout tracks are "Sign Of The Times" a cover of Slade's "Mama Weer All Crazee Now", "Stomp Your Hands, Clap Your Feet", and the title track. the burning question is, where are you guys?
