Worthless garbage. 0/5 stars.......2007-06-23
These guys were a joke they play their 2 cord guitars so poorly with repetitive riffs no solos with a sloppy bass drums the vocalist sounds like a wrestler with his growling and every song on here was horrible. I don't know which is worse korn or coal chamber well they both make it on my top 10 s**t list of the worst talentless poser tough guy bands ever to exist in the nu metal generation. These guys will never make another awful album again korn made alot more than them no matter how much they sucked. This band is a waste of time and money and so is korn.
A severe case of musical theft.......2006-09-21
A few tentative notes from a treble-heavy bass guitar... a sprinkle of hits on a ride cymbal... a light touch of guitar dissonance... something is brewing. Clearly this is the calm before the storm. It even sounds vaguely familiar. I'm trying to remember what it's called...
... "Blind" by Korn?
A suck of breath, someone shouts "GO!" and the song is off.
No. It's supposed to be "ARE YOU READY?!". Jonathan doesn't say "GO!" until the third album, they got it all wrong.
This is the start of "Loco", the first act of musical purgery by nu metal sideshow Coal Chamber. And it's the best one on the album too. From here your patience will only wear ever more thin as Dez and company play redundant song after song, each one based on a single idea stolen straight from Korn's self-titled. Granted that record was highly influencial on many metal bands, but you're not supposed to play it note for note. Almost every song on this record can be traced back to a specific Korn song. For example, as I write this I am listening (perhaps for the last time ever) to "Faget" er I mean "Clown" er I mean "Big Truck" s*** lemme try again.
The same lack of original content permeates the entire record. The best argument for listening to this record is the 45 second "Amir of the Desert" - partly for its saintly length and partly for its mildly entertaining middle school humor. Here Coal Chamber are either the least creative band in nu metal history, or the most dishonest cover band in music history.
MMM. DONUTS........2006-07-26
PLAY THROUGH THE LAST SONG (PIG). THERE'S A HIDDEN THING AT THE END.JUST RANDOM CLIPS FROM THE STUDIO.A FEW SONGS TOO.
The Secret.......2006-07-08
I seen these guys in Maine before they were ever famous, at our ever famous Hempstock. Look the secret to coal chamber... buy this album, run away, don't buy anything else doing with them, and you will be fine... look at chamber music and it's all over you blew it!
If You Don't Like Death Metal..........2006-05-22
why bother listening to it? Personally I own one Korn album and they just don't interest me very much and I don't like Sevendust. Spineshank is more likely to be of interest to people who like Coal Chamber. A lot of times you don't think about the lyrics you go with the flow of the sound because no matter how you look at it lyrics can only become "so intelligent". You could have total perfectional lyrics and eventually you'd go back to "I am the Man," repeatedly or just pure sound.
Sometimes it does not pay to overanalyze especially in regards to creative expression however that doesn't mean to disregard it completely.

Coal Chamber's third outing since 1997 finds the Los Angeles-based quartet taking its dark, intelligent nu-metallic approach farther. More ominous, aggressive, and postindustrial than true metal, the band's portentous, aggro style is also at times sensual, as vocalist Dez Fafara delivers provocative, pointed lyrics in a passionate, wide-ranging sing-to-a-growl voice. From "Friend?" to "Drove," with its spooky soundtrack-like vocals and simple, haunting, edgy music, Coal Chamber pulls no punches. As Farfara taunts in "Drove," "Yes, I despise you mostly / you're small you see, a wannabe." From the barely controlled chaos of "Something Told Me" and the dynamic title track to the insinuating, irresistible chorus of "One Step" and "Rowboat," a song originally done by the band Flood, the disc is generally strong. Ultimately, however, this album's 41 minutes of murky musings is not revolutionary enough to earn major merit. --Katherine Turman

Fits into CC's golden line up.......2007-02-16
Deff one of CC's greatest cd's along with their previous two. This is most certainly their most Metal and heaviest album. The most focused guitar attack by them too. Some repetativeness but overall every song has its good qualties and it has some of CC's best work. Somethign Told Me and Dark Days deff two of their strongest songs ever. This album would be the last quality work set forth by them in my opinion. I find myself listening to CC all the time on their first three outputs.
Drop-tune, off-beat, REPEAT........2006-09-21
Over the course of three albums, Coal Chamber has had surprisingly little to say. They still use the same set of rhythms on almost every song, the same two or three notes, the same banal rap-scream shtick accompanied by the requisite cringeworthy lyrics about big trucks and burning things. Or something.
The truth is this is the exact same record they debuted with but on a bigger recording budget. Why they would want to repeat that sonic abortion we may never know. Most everything here is either a rip on one of their superior forebears or a rip on themselves. The former is more common than the latter as Coal Chamber rarely produces any original ideas of their own.
Mercifully this was to be their last record. "Rowboat" is actually an acceptable track (mostly for its comedic effect,) but outside of that Dark Days is an absurd waste of time. The grooves are recycled and mundane. The riffs are all identical. The lyrics vary from awful to 'banging my head against the wall in an attempt to disable auditory function.' In summation, just avoid it. You'll be saving yourself one heck of a drop-tuning-induced headache.
Mine is the empty jar.......2006-02-14
With all that's been said about Coal Chamber, be it all the elongated absences between records, the constant fueding between band members, or the mere fact that they were lumped in with the nu metal genre, the one thing that I don't think can easily be disputed is that this is probably their best and most focused CD.
I loved their self titled debut but wasn't fond of the different direction they took on Chamber Music. With the release of Dark Days, however, we find the band getting back to their roots and playing the music that fits them best. Dez's voice is much more angry, at times his screams are so intense that it's not surprising at all that he moved on to a heavier band, and the music is even better than on the previous CDs. The lyrics aren't masterful, in fact they tend to be repetative and unimaginative, but still, they get the point across. There is the occassional exception though, Friend?, a declaration of a friendship gone awry, is something every person has wanted to say to someone at one time or another. Rowboat is the other true exception. Everything about that song is covered in intensity.
The CD keeps its pace steady throughout the entire record, there's no real light moments to be found and Dez does no accountable singing, so basically what you have is a straight up heavy CD. Three songs on this disc really stand out as some of Coal Chamber's best material, those being Friend?, Rowboat, and Empty Jar. Rowboat, I'm convinced, is Coal Chamber's shining moment as a band. I seriously doubt any song of their's is as 'out there' as this, and the chorus is as memorable as you can get. Empty Jar uses Dez's different vocal techniques to perfection, be it spoken word, distorted, or screaming, it's all here.
Dark Days isn't without its misses though. Watershed is a catchy song but falls flat when it should gain momentum. One Step is another very catchy song, but in the end it's far too repetative for its own good. Then you have the wreck of a song Drove. I've tried to like it but the lyrics are extremely corny, the vocal delivery is lame, and the music just isn't up to par. Aside from the afformentioned Drove, even the low points are fun to listen to, so that says something to this album's quality.
My favorite songs are Something Told Me, Dark Days, Friend?, Rowboat, and Empty Jar. Sadly this was (I think) Coal Chamber's last actual CD full of new material. People can say what they want but I really liked this band and it's a shame they couldn't work their own pety differences out. Dez's new band Devildriver is good but I still yearn to hear new Coal Chamber, and judging from Dark Days, the future would've been quite kind to them.
I bid you farewell.......2006-01-30
Coal Chamber was one of the first bands that turned me away from the mainstream top 40 stuff and into the great world of heavy riffs and satanic screams...ha, yeah, somthing like that. Anyways, this album was there bid farewell as a group, their last studio effort and for what it's worth it was a very good last ha'rah. They have ditched the melodic nu-metal sound that made 'Chamber Music' stand out from their debut album and went back to their roots and their original sound. Starting things off with "FIEND" Dez brings his signature growl to this brutal musical offering. It's a great slice of Coal Chamber. 'GLOW' off the Scorpion King soundtrack is pretty awsome song and is the first song off the album to be used on a soundtrack. 'SOMETHING TOLD ME' is the second and was used on the Resident Evil soundtrack. It's pretty good but nothing extraudanary and after a while can be quite repetative. The whole 'Somthing told me to hate you' is kinda lame. 'WATERSHED' is one of my favorite tracks here with crashing riffs and blood curtling lyrics. "DARK DAYS" is great. I love the whole part where he's singing about the noose and he's like growling while their going crazy on the riff...it's awsome. "ALIENATE ME" and "ONE STEP" are simular, not bad, but of the two I prefer "ONE STEP". They have a catchy radio friendly vibe to them but they are still brutal Coal Chamber. "FRIEND" is freaking brutal! It's awsome and fans of Coal Chambers debut will love this addition! I love the concept of "ROWBOAT" but I feel that Dez's vocal style is not complimentory of the song. It needs a more melodic singer just because of the percusion and the lyrics themselves...good try though. The end though, where he's like "get out of my rowboat" and he gets real course and high pitched almost and he's like "get out of my" right before the crashing guitars are pretty (sic). "DROVE" is decent and "EMPTY JAR" is pretty killer. I love "BECKONED" and think that it is a great way to end a steller album. 4 stars only because they lost their footing a few times and maybe should have tried combining the brutality of their debut with the melodicy of "Chamber Music" insted of going right back to the old and forgoing a new side. All in all it's a great album for any fan to own.

Far more diverse and dynamic than the band's unspectacular self-titled debut, Chamber Music exhibits Coal Chamber at its most eclectic and accessible. Rooting songs such as "Tragedy" and "Tyler's Song" in a foundation of de-tuned guitar bluster, syncopated beats, and growled vocals, Coal Chamber capture the primal urgency of Korn and Limp Bizkit, while tossing in enough gothic keyboard lines and minor-key melodies to appeal to Marilyn Manson fans. At times, however, Coal Chamber's sepulchral clatter seems a wee bit contrived--as in "What's in Your Mind," which features staccato vocals too similar to Korn's "Freak on a Leash," and a horrendous fragment of Peter Gabriel's "Shock the Monkey," with Ozzy Osbourne on vocals. But shortcomings notwithstanding, Chamber Music marks a major musical step forward for Coal Chamber. --Jon Wiederhorn

Coal Chambers Sophmore album.......2007-02-16
Of the CC albums this one most certainly stands the test of time and has me coming back. Most certainly their most creative hour. The songs may not bring back that balls to the walls velocity on their debut but its far more diverse and fuses their Nu Metal meets Gothic like none of their others. Most certainly a classic along with their debut. Some songs are weak overall its a satasfied buy however its less Nu Metal than their debut. After this album started going downhill.
More awful taste of imitation metal. 0/5 stars.......2007-01-08
Man how did I ever get into this band? I don't know which is worse the way they look like gothic marilyn manson wannabe's or how they sing it's both. The singers growling is pathetic their powercord guitars and bass sound awfully cheap with same riffs no guitar solos as usually and that covered song SHOCK THE MONKEY they ripped off from peter gabriel sucked like all of their other songs peter gabriel sings it much better. Even rayna foss don't turn me on anymore she just looks like a pathetic ugly freak like the rest of the band well I heard she left the band cause now she has a daughter well that's good for her maybe she'll change her gothic image for her daughter because people have to grow up sometime soon and coal chamber sucks.
Some good ol' nu-metal.......2006-02-13
Not only is "Chamber Music" far more dynamic, diverse, mature, and accessible than Coal Chamber's self-titled 1997 debut, it is also doubtlessly the band's finest hour. Vocalist Dez Fafara (who would, four years after this album was released, dissolve Coal Chamber to focus on his side project Devildriver) delivers both vocally and lyrically, here. His singing style is usually far less snarly and repetitive--he even sings (yes, sings) on some songs (like "My Mercy")--and, as proven by such tracks as "Tyler's Song," his lyrics are solidified. Plus, guitarist Meegs Rascon is clearly a better musician than he was two years ago (he pulls out some pretty good riffs, here), and there are even some occasional keyboards sprinkled on, as well.
Aside from the eighth track, an almost laughable cover of Peter Gabriel's "Shock The Monkey," there isn't one bad song on here. Many of the songs, like "Tragedy" and "What's In Your Mind," are rooted in downtuned guitar bluster and Dez's arresting vocals, and they also have several strong, almost irresistible hooks. It should be clear to any real music fan that--from the almost thunderous, churning riffs of "Untrue," to the atmospheric, synth-y track "Burgundy," to "Entwined," which is an almost wall shaking assault of grumbling guitars and raging vocals--this is a solid album through and through. Other highlights are the crunchy "My Mercy," the distorted guitars and maniacal vocals on "Shari Vegas," and "Notion," which features some guest scratches by Limp Bizkit's DJ Lethal.
Coal Chamber have been disbanded for a while now, and it's doubtful anyone will be talking about them in a few years time. But this is still a good album! Even though the band released a Greatest Hits album in 2003, and "Chamber Music" doesn't feature their hit 2002 single, "Fiend," one could still make the case that this record is like a "best of" compilation for this band. If you like heavy stuff, it's here for you, but there is also a somewhat melodic and experimental side to several of these songs. This record is essential for all complete nu-metal collections, and it's also recommended if you have Nineties nostalgia.
The Music of all Music.......2006-01-31
This album is the first goth/heavy/rock album I ever purchased. I was on vacation with my family and I was in Sam Goody just listening to the CD's they had displayed and I grabbed the headphones and hit play and soon my mind was flooded with the song "NO HOME" and my eyes got wide and my ears felt like they were in heaven and I decided right then and there that I no longer liked the pop crap I had been listening to and that this was my new favorite form of music so i threw down the N'Sync CD my parents promised me and I grabbed this one off the shelf and said "I changed my mind, I want this" and here I am today still listening to this AMAZING album. This was and is by far the best of the three Coal Chamber albums because it shows the diversity in talent of this band. As of now they have split and Dez has formed a new band in DevilDriver and has resorted back to his old roots of mindless bantor, which at times works but this album showed so my promise for these guys. Starting this off heavy with "TRAGIDY" which followed the eerie opener os "MIST" they broke off my favorite Coal Chamber song ever "EL CU CUY" which sports amazing riffs and brilliant lyrics behind Dez's signature growl. I can't help but chant "kill the man become the monster" everytime I hear this amazing song. "UNTRUE" is another great song about a cheating mate or GF or whatever with lyrics that speak truth behind crushing riffs it's one of my favorites. "TYLERS SONG" is sweet yet brutal and thats what makes it brillants...it was also used on the Scream 3 soundtrack and so it may be more widely known because of that. "WHAT'S IN YOUR MIND" starts off with the Shining type vocals, talking backwards until BOOM it breaks into brutal riffs and constant screaming and is just freaking nonstop brutality! "NOT LIVING" is one of my favorite of the album, a song used for the Bride of Chucky soundtrack, it fits well and freaking rocks. I love the verses, the way Dez sings them and then the chorus which is catchy and easy to sing along with...the bridge is freaking awsome. Coal Chambers tries their hand at a Peter Gabrielle classic with the help of Ozzy Ozborne on the song "SHOCK THE MONKEY" and they do alright, but they don't particularly knock it out of the park, thats for sure. "BURGUNGY" starts the softer side, more melodic side to Coal Chamber and it works with Dez's baratone voice that booms next to the eerie soft riffs that show these guys have diverse talents. "ENTWINED" is one awsome song along the lines of Not Living that just serves up my favorite side of th Chamber, their melodic brutality! "FEED MY DREAMS" has my favorite bridge on the whole album where it's just freaking heavy riffs and Dez is going in and out of baratone vocals to more high pitched vocals...it's awsome..."MY MERCY" is back to the melodic soft side with female vocals along with Dez's and then we have the "NO HOME" and I have to say it's still freaking amazing! Still one of my favorites so just "Shut Up!" hahahah... "SHARI VEGAS" is my least favorite on the album and the only one that I skip over. Just too, I don't know, not cool. "NOTION" was the first song I heard by Coal Chamber played on the radio and I blasted it and screamed "I know this band, I have this CD" and I have to say that this song kicks so my (...) it's freaking awsome. It's easily a highlight and although the lyrics are quite simple the riffs and the brutality behind them make up for it. I love it. And that brings us to the epic closer, the one song that closes the chapter that was Coal Chambers BEST ride..."ANYTHING BUT YOU" and I have to say that this song defines what I miss about Coal Chamber..the lyrics were deep and meaningful, the riffs were unique and brutal while they still held to a form of melodicy that kept them from being contemperary and mainstream. This song is one of the best rock songs because it proves without a doubt that Coal Chamber could have and should have been on the top of their genra.
almost a classic.......2006-01-01
when i first listened to this album...about 6 years ago when it first came out, i thought it was alright but never listened to it citing "its not as hard" as the reason. now, years later, after the death of chamber and longing for more to fill the gap that the first album could not sustain, i finally bought it.
now, after listening to it again, i can honestly say it's not entirely that bad. but let me perfectly clear, this is one of those albums that you are either going to love it or you're going to hate it. the album isn't entirely as hard as the debut, but it does have its moments with songs such as "tragedy", "el cu cuy", "what's in your mind?", etc. then it has it's slower moments with songs like "my mercy", "tylers song", "burgundy" and the intro "mist".
its somewhere around here that one might notice the albums shortcomings. as an album, its solid with the exception of 2-3 songs. i thought "tylers song" and "notion" were kinda self-indulgent. "notion" is just repeative as hell, using the word 'notion' more times than one could care for. its not a word one would think of using in a song. i wish chamber was strong enough to have said "no...this shouldn't go here" and not listen to whoever suggested it, coz i read that mikey said that either 'wishes' or 'apparition' was going to go there. as for "tylers song" i just don't like it. i know its meaning and context, but it seems like one of those songs intended for one person and that most people would not be able to relate to. also, dez's vocals sound entirely whiny.
then theres "not living", its definitely not as a good as the original version that came out on the 'strangeland' soundtrack. its harder and more emotional in a sense, this one just kinda repeats what it did but not quite. dez's vocals are defintely not as strong as the older version. "shock the monkey" is the song that is both a hit and a miss. the entire song is great except for ozzy's vocals. it just ruins it a bit.
the positives are the nifty use of keyboards that one would not have expected chamber to use on their sophomore effort. it's entirely fascinating. an example is the almost drum and bass like "burgundy". nary a trace of guitar, but fixating on the drums, guitar and keyboard. with fantastic vocals by dez and the guest stuff by aimee echo. it just makes you wish you could hear her do more than go "aahhhh" in the background. but its great, then theres "my mercy" with what could be strings at the beginning that once again goes somewhere you did not expect them to go. also, again with guest stuff by aimee echo.
once again, its entirely good with the exception of like...2-3 songs. its a bit like, if those songs weren't there...then it would be a definite classic. but its a good listen for its strange diversity and interesting use of keyboards and innovative guitar sound that meegs perfected here. but i'd suggest listening to a friends copy before actually buying it make sure you could live with it in your collection.

A mix of baroque and East Coast music.......2001-07-18
"Bach Meets Cape Breton" is an enjoyable mix of baroque and east coast Canadian music, and it works quite wonderfully. Puirt a Baroque's combination of violin/harpsichord/guitar mixes beautifully, and they combine the two styles of music with skill and inspiration.
Read a good long book with this playing in the background, and let it repeat. This is not to call this background music, it is great to hear it on its own and listen for all the nuances and purity. Excellent CD, one I found by accident but enjoy very much.
A unique mix of classical themes with Celtic tempos.......2000-07-19
We received this CD as a gift from a Canadian friend who shares our love of classical music and were pleasantly surprised by the unique character, of these artists who mix classical themes with Celtic form in an utterly charming, and at times even toe-tapping musical presentation. David Greenberg's violin playing is first rate as is that of the other musicians. Bach is clearly there, but heard through a special kind of filter. For those who may run from anything too Celtic, relax, this manages to merge the best of that lighter folk music with the discipline of baroque. A delightful, often played favorite around our home!

Chamber Wh()res Only .......2007-07-07
Coal Chamber have long called it quits for a while now and only the brave hearted dare tempt the ideal of a reunion. That said a plethora of new fans still seem to be surging onto the Chamber scene and buy up the short but ample discography of what the once mighty Coal Chamber had accomplished in its short run. This album is kind of the marking point of the demise of Coal Chamber and thus the first reason Chamber Wh()res will and must own this.
Truth be told this isn't all that bad of an album, If your a fan of pretty much everything Coal Chamber ever recorded. If you are a new Chamber fan looking to buy your first Chamber C.D. don't.. Either buy the self titled or Chamber Music(my personal favorite). The album it self is a collection of songs never before heard or released, rare remixes that really aren't all that much different from the originals except for new sounds heard here and there on the tracks and of course original versions of classic CC tracks. Oh and of course the live recording of the CC anthem Big Truck, Which is decent but quality is fairly rough.
In a simplistic no jazzy wording way of teling you, Only get this if you are a fan of Coal Chambers music. All others go listen to one of the three studio albums until your mind is warped into being a fan then buy this.
Please a weak piece.......2007-02-16
Buy their greatest hits or their first three albums pretty much. Dont bother with these B-Sides, which can be good if properlly chosen, mixed and such but man some gay songs on here, gay versions of good songs, good songs ive heard many times before on their first 3 albums and thats pretty much it. Not very worthy of my cd collection besides the Coal Chamber name on it and cool cover. Most certainly not a good showcase of CC's talent or their awsome music. Dont buy it and dont dare buy it as their first album u may be turned off completely.
Does NOT Give Coal Chamber their Dues!.......2006-02-02
There have been a few B-sides by this band floating around on soundtracks and whatnot and those few B-sides, "BLISTERS" in particular, are worth the purchase of this CD, but if your looking to the rest of the CD for validation you may come up short. The opening track and the only NEW track "HEADSTONES AND THE WALKING DEAD" is a decent track but to know it's the LAST original Coal Chamber song it's kinda a let down. The other B-sides like "WISHES" and "ANXIETY" are good but the real let down is the remixes which, in my opinion are not even remixes...They sound almost identical to the originals. The demo's for songs like "NOT LIVING" and "PIG" as well as "SWAY" and "UNSPOILED" are decent, the best demo cut being "LOCO" which has a lot more crunch to it. All and all it's nice to have the B-sides on one CD rather than spread out over a few soundtracks but if you think about it, the Bride of Chucky soundtrack (which boast the best B-side, BLISTERS) has quite a few other great songs by other kick @$$ bands so all and all that might be a better buy. It's just a little depressing to expect so much and get so little.
not how chamber should be remembered.......2006-01-01
the fact that this is the most likely the last 'original' album by coal chamber is a downer coz this shouldn't be the way to remember them by the releasing of b-sides and whatnot. now, i do like this cd. its actually good to have i guess all of their rare tracks in one place.
but i do take issue with some of this. for example, the first track. if you download it off the official roadrunner records site and just listen to it, you can't really tell what dez is saying. you understand the majority of it, with some parts leaving you scratching your head. its only here while reading the lyrics it gives you an idea that dez's ego is really kicking in and taking multiple potshots at his bandmates (at the time their future was up in the air and no one knew what was what). its disrespectful in a manner to use a coal chamber song as a "f**k you" to the people who made the music. also, its old music with dez's new vocal style...it just doesn't work.
then there the "remixes"...they can hardly be construed as remixes as there is barely anything there that is different. if anything most of the songs have tiny portions that are minutely different with the rest sounding like an album version. if anything, it's almost like a lord-alge remix, barely anything different but requiring a listen to both back to back to hear a difference. but there is a difference that you can hear, but not much. "el cu cuy" is an example of that, it just sounds like the album version with the beginning removed. now, the only one that truly sounds like a remix would be "sway" with guest vocals by jay gordon and ryan shuck of orgy. the "bradley" remix is not that great and i do deduct points coz it's an edit. imagine, an edit on an album with a p.a.
but, the remixes are listenable and good as long as you think of them as alternate versions, not remixes. the original version of "pig" sounds exactly like the album version...its weird. then you got the stuff that were soundtrack exclusives. you have the phenomanal original version of "not living" that was on 'strangeland'. its absolutely great. then theres "blisters" that was on 'bride of chucky'...again another great track.
then there's some unreleased stuff like 'anxiety', 'save yourself' that are pretty good. but i'm confused coz i knew about 'anxiety' since '97 or so before 'chamber music' came out. apparently it was on the loco single, but here in the booklet it says 'dark days outtake'. the live version of 'big truck' is nice but it bothers me that i don't know when it was recorded...but since its the last track before the demos, i imagine it was somewhat recent.
now the demos are not all that spectactular. its hard to listen to them and not draw a comparision to what ended up on the debut. it does make you appreciate the debut just a bit more and how it turned out coz if those songs weren't fine tuned, the demo versions are most likely what we would've had. an example is 'loco'...dez's vocals are no near as good as the debut. in fact, its dez's vocals that no more near as good on any of them...its almost as if getting dumped on the day of recording vocal tracks for the debut did him a favor. the music is great though. the one demo thats truly good is 'babbit'. why? coz we've never heard it before and there is nothing to compare it to. it stands on its own and it is great. in fact, the beginning is pretty good...it's pretty jaw-dropping.
in the end, when its over...its just a sad ending to what was a great band. especially when listening to demos...it's difficult to imagine the band recording them trying to get a record deal ended up going out with a whimper instead a bang. shame.
THe first track is funny!.......2004-09-08
The first track is hilarious because Dez totally ran down his band members on a track THEY PLAYED ON!!!(Headstones and walking dead) THAT'S HILARIOUS!!!! To the person who said they are on hiatus. They aren't on hiatus. They are broke up,and they ain't comin' back (especially after track 1).At least Dez is still making kick @$$ music with Devil Driver.

2 1/2..Best of isnt really the best of.......2006-07-11
Coal Chamber had a great sound with their first album, and even though they were in the same class as Deftones and Korn (at the time) they took Nu Metal to maxium with Dez's Great vocal range. There is just a few good cuts off of this Best Of CD, and you can really feel the difference between Coal Chambers older and newer material. The newer material is what really ruins this album, and probely is what ruined Coal Chamber. I suggest if you want a better feel for the band and a more "Vocal" Dez, then stick with the first 2 releases.
Oki Doke.......2005-04-17
Coal Chamber is and always has been one of my favorite bands...Regardless of the fact that they broke up. This CD is a compilation of all of their most popular songs, it seems, though in my opinion not always their best. I could not help but note the absense of the songs that my friends and I would always skip to. On the other hand, the songs on this album do a fair job at effectively reprisenting Coal Chamber's sound from each album the songs were chosen from.
Good way to know Coal Chamber.......2004-12-14
Coal Chamber is one of my all time fav bands, but for me i already have all 4 cd's cuz i am a big fan. Now if you don't know Coal Chamber all that well this CD is for you. It has some of there best songs on this album, but i still liek more songs that are not on this album. So basically check out this cd if you liek it, start of with Coal Chamber, then move to Chamber Music and then move to Dark Days, now do NOT Get Giving The Devil His Due, that is for HARDCORE COAL CHAMBER FANZ ONLY!Like me, a lot of big fans of coal chamber will not care for it. But overall it is a great cd!
Nice........2004-10-01
I liked Coal Chamber, but DevilDriver is light-years ahead of them, bar-none. If you're as big a fan of Dez Fafara or Coal Chamber as me, then you need this, unless you already have all or most of the Chamber albums already. Otherwise, this is a good overview of Dez before he went on to make DevilDriver. A great collection of songs.

Coal Chamber 25th Anniversary Series.......2005-09-29
I never thought I would be writing a Coal Chamber review again! I was very excited when I heard about this re-release/re-issue (or whatever you wanna call it). If you are a Coal Chamber fan you are going to love this.
Let's talk about the artwork. The front cover is the same, but the added the "Parental Advisory" sign on it. As you would remeber the orginal version didn't. This Coal Chamber cd comes in a nice digipack.
When you open the digipack up. There are some nice new pictures in here that I haven'tseen before. The cd booklet is in the middle. Left side is the music CD and the Right is the DVD.
If you look at the cd booklet it doesn't look like anything new, same pic as you seen before. Once you open up the booklet you don't see lyrics, not just yet. You got the Bio of Coal Chamber and much more! Aslo in the booklet there are a lot of different colored pics. Most of the pics was not in the original CD Booklet.
You might have seen the back, with the Bonus Trackson the back. The original CD came with 14 songs, and this cd isloaded with 20! You got "Headstones And The Walking Dead", "Big Truck (Hand-On-Wheel Mix), Pig Demo, Sway Demo(I kinda like it better than the oringal version my self), Unspoild Demo, and Loco Demo.
Now if your a hardcore Coal Chamber fan you are prob. thinking "what the hell" because you might already heard those songs or have it on the "Giving The Devil His Dues" CD. But Don't worry as you all know there is more!
Now to my fav. part of this digipack! The DVD! On the back it says "Includes 2 live concerts from 1996 and 1999. Don't worry its not two songs its more like 12. I don't remeber the exact number but its prob around 20/30 min or so. You also got a Live Video of Loco from Ozzfest '96. And to top all that off, the Video for Loco! Now you can delete that crappy version of the "Loco" Video off your comp and have a great quality version of it!
With everything this digipack came with I am very pleased! I loved the first Coal Chamber CD, and this just makes it better! It's worth the price! I do not regret it at all! Also don't forget if you wanna hear other Remix's, Demos, and B-Sides check out Coal Chamber's "Giving The Devil His Dues"
