Older Loudness fans are definitely in for a surprise..........1999-09-18
I just recently purchased this double album & I have to say, I was definitely surprised by the direction the band has taken, but not disappointed. The band (including Akira, the world's greatest heavy metal guitarist) shred their way through the 23 songs with their talent & experience showing every step of the way. Only a few of the songs miss the mark, but most are very well done. They mix some very 90's elements into their music, with one song sounding like Alice In Chains, while another one left me thinking I had stuck Metallica in by mistake. But don't mistake these 2 albums for American rip-offs, Loudness continue to carve their own niche. It's too bad these aren't available in the US, but they're really worth every cent of the import price. Highly recommended!!!!
Takes getting used to.......1999-05-26
This 2 CD set contains Loudness' current album, Dragon, and the previous one called Ghetto Machine. If you haven't heard from Loudness since 1990 or so, well you're in for a surprise. Akira Takasaki is the only original member left and has opted for a more heavier, slower sound with this lineup. The songs are kinda hit and miss, Dragon I think being the better of the two discs. And the one weird thing is, there are songs where Akira doesn't solo AT ALL! Some of those songs needed some his shredding--badly. When he *does* solo it's great, but again not enough of it...Akira, the new sound is fine, just more lead guitar please! Have to disagree with the other reviewer, this is NOT the best Loudness album ever--IMHO Disillusion or Thunder In The East are better candidates for that honor.
the best loudness ever...............................ever!.......1999-04-09
akira has never played better and the whole band is so tight and heavy its unbelievable a dream come true.

Loudness Getting Grundgier.......1998-10-31
This Ghetto Machine album moves up a knotch on the Grundge Meter compared to the previous album Heavy Metal Hippies. The songs overall are darker with a blend of EZO (from Masaki on vocals). In my opinion, the best song would be the first song Ghetto Machine... Don't expect any finger flying theatrics from Akira.
