Album Details
Megadeth's "Hidden Treasures", an Album Compiled of the Band's Hidden Treasures Culled from Various Soundtracks.
Customer Reviews:
A Toute le Monde is NOT previously unreleased........2007-07-26
There are some good songs (like Go to Hell, Angry Again, and a lost gem from the Youthanasia sessions called Diadems) but a great deal of filler tracks as well (how many Sex Pistols covers did Dave have to do before he figured out that Deth fans don't like Sex Pistols?).
This is not a Megadeth classic by any means, and can be easily avoided. Take it from me, I've been a fan of the band for about 17 years now and I have all of their albums. The only value in this is if you're a collector, or a die-hard fan who has to own everything Mega. On the other hand, you may want to wait for the upcoming import boxset of rarities.
Finally it is here!!!.......2007-05-23
I have the original pressing of this on cassette, and I have been waiting for Megadeth to re-release this as they did with their back catologue from Capital with bonus tracks. And here it is. The bonus tracks not on the original album are previously un-released Demos of 'A Tout Le Monde', 'Symphony Of Destruction', 'Architecture Of Aggression' and 'New World Order. These are great versions of the classic. Plus the original 8 tracks are nice to have in one spot. Worth the price to re-buy if you are a collector.

Industry's "State of the Nation" is on this record, buy it now.......2005-09-20
Industry's "State of the Nation" is worth the price of this album alone, but in addition you get Kate Bush, Mazzy Star, and Wall of Voodoo. If you don't have the albums for these other tracks, these are exemplary cuts from these artists. But it must be emphasized that Industry's "State of the Nation" is available virtually nowhere else, except their impossible to obtain album "Stranger to Stranger."
Hard To Find Tracks!.......2001-01-30
This disc has "Stairway To Heaven" which features Bobby Kimball (Toto lead singer) and other members of Toto and the song is very cool. It's got the feel of Zeppelin updated into the 80's. Roachford is another track that is tough to find, as is Industry. Red Rider's Lunatic Fringe is a great track on this collection as well. A great value for 10 tracks.
Nice selection of pop nuggests.......2000-12-07
This includes some cool stuff, such as "Cuddly Toy (Feel For Me)" by Roachford, which should have been a huge hit but wasn't (except for the UK). Also, "State Of The Nation" by Industry is a synth pop classic that is kind of rare.

Hidden no more.......2007-06-02
This is the sort of release that hovers between three and four stars. While it's not a proper album it's various tunes are close enough in time and space and attitude to gel nicely. Also Megadeth have wisely steered clear of dogging this release with demos and alternate versions that have effectively stymied similar releases by other bands, bombarding the listener into apathy. Instead Megadeth have presented a clutch of tunes all played in the bands usual idiom and a few of which may be familiar already to long time fans in teh same what that many songs on Def Leppards RetroActive release were known to their more devoted fans.
As to specifics the collection kicks off with the bands cover of the Alice Cooper class No More Mr Nice Guy which appeared on the soundtrack for the Wes Craven film Shocker. The movie was dodgy but there is nothing dodgy about this number due in part to Mustaines affinity with the lyrics and the fact that more modern delivery and production values hugely benefit the song. Next up is Breakpoint which was a new one to me and ain't all bad. A densely played Megadeth number - apparently originally on the soundtrack for the film Super Marion Bros (no wonder I'd not heard it).
The next three tracks are also from soundtracks: Got to Hell (Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey), Angry Again (Last Action Hero) and 99 Ways to Die (The Beavis & Butthead Experience). The first two are great metal tunes with passion and verve with great axework. The latter though approaches filler status, missing some indefinable ingredient.
Next up is the cover of Black Sabbaths Paranoid. Recording for the Nativity in Black tribute to the Sabs the differences to the original is the modern production values and the more clipped playing style of the Megadeth boys. In a pinch I'd probably prefer to listen to Ozzy sing this as his unhinged style is just more fitting to the songs thrust.
Tales from the Crypt Presents Demon Night is the source soundtrack for Diadems which is a fairly stock metal tune. It's Megadeth so thers is a certain minium quality inherent but it's not got much personality of it's own. Last tune, Problems, is of a somewhat similar nature. It's a totally new tune recorded just for this collection - but while it has more space in it's arrangements it isn't a gotta have track.
All up this is a handy collection because it brings together a bunch of cool and OK tracks from disposable sources. Brilliant if, like me, you don't have stuff like the Super Mario Bros soundtrack on your birthday wishlist! Accept the disc for what it is and you'll be fine but remember this is a collection aimed more at the dedicated fans ans isn't a full album of new recordings.
Great collection of non-album tracks.......2006-07-26
The 1995 EP Hidden Treasures collects the various tracks that Megadeth contributed to soundtracks and tribute albums throughout the early 1990's. Here's what you get:
1. No More Mr. Nice Guy - This one is a cover of the Alice Cooper classic, and comes from the soundtrack to the movie Shocker.
2. Breakpoint - This is an original Megadeth track, and comes from the soundtrack to the movie Super Mario Brothers.
3. Go To Hell - Another original Megadeth track, this time from the Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey soundtrack.
4. Angry Again - Another original Megadeth song. This one is from the Last Action Hero soundtrack.
5. 99 Ways to Die - Yet another Megadeth original, this time from the Beavis & Butthead Experience CD.
6. Paranoid - An ultra-fast cover of the Black Sabbath classic, taken from the Sabbath tribute album Nativity in Black.
7. Diadems - Another original Megadeth song. This one comes from the soundtrack to the movie Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight.
8. Problems - A Sex Pistols cover that is exclusive to this EP.
This is a nice collection of material that saves Megadeth fans from tracking down half a dozen otherwise crappy albums (though to be fair, the Last Action Hero soundtrack was pretty good). I fully expected these songs to be included on the recent Megadeth remasters, but to my surprise they were not. Hidden Treasures remains the best way to get these songs. It's too bad the disc is out of print.
NOTE: There is a Japanese import version of Hidden Treasures that contains a few demos as bonus tracks. They're just demo versions of existing Megadeth tracks, so they may not be worth the Japanese disc's hefty price tag.
Find This Treasure.......2005-12-22
I've been looking everywhere for this album, I found it in a used CD shop. The first Megadeth song I'd ever heard was on Last Action Hero. "Angry Again" is impressive enough to buy the album for, but you won't be dissappointed by "99 Ways To Die" or their cover of Alice Cooper's "No More Mr. Nice Guy". An excellent album, if you find it, GET IT.
A great find.......2005-12-21
I found this CD used yesterday. I was amazed when I saw it. I thought I would never find it. Anyway... I was very pleased with the CD. Every song is worth listening to. The highlights would have to be Go To Hell, Angry Again, and 99 Ways to Die.
1: No More Mr. Nice Guy - Catchy and enjoyable, but not very thrash worthy
2: Breakpoint - Good thrash from Megadeth.
3: Go to Hell - Kind of a cross between the Rust in Peace era and the Countdown to Extinction era. Good song none-the-less.
4: Angry Again - Great Megadeth song. VERY catchy.
5: 99 Ways To Die - I was always skeptical about this song. I did not think the hype would amount. It did. Awesome Megadeth thrasher.
6: Paranoid - Great cover of a classic.
7: Diadems - Well I liked it. The beginning was kind of like something from Iron Maiden.
8: Problems - Not that impressed. It was an okay song, but the end was just way too repetative.
If you like Megadeth, I do not see how you would not like this album. (Unless all you like is Risk... which would be really weird)
A great grab!.......2005-10-12
This fan pleasing C.D. is comprised of eight "hidden" Megadeth gems, which are rarities, covers, and b-sides/songs from soundtracks. If you're new to Megadeth, I wouldn't recommend starting here, but every song on here is enjoyable, making this a great and essential inclusion in your collection. The album opener, "No More Mr. Nice Guy" is an Alice Cooper cover, and it is quite catchy. Next, "Breakpoint" (from the "Super Mario Brothers" movie) has four nice, but very brief guitar solos, and "Go To Hell" (from the movie "Bill And Ted's Bogus Adventure") which kind of sounds like a b-side from "Countdown to Extinction," has a great, five part solo. But "Angry Again" is the real highlight, here. It's from the "Last Action Hero" soundtrack and is one of Megadeth's most recognizable songs, because it is also very catchy. This song (which remains a staple of Megadeth's live shows) also has a nice solo (this one has four parts to it). "99 Ways To Die" has another guitar solo which flares up, and uses (what sounds like) arpeggio guitars. "Paranoid" originally appeared on the first Black Sabbath tribute album, and this Megadeth cover is probably the best version of this song ever recorded (aside from the original, of course). "Diadems" is taken from "Tales From the Crypt Presents Demon Knight" soundtrack. This cut is rather unremarkable (if you ask me), except for the speed change around the middle. Finally, "Problems" is quite fast and catchy. The only problem with this EP is that it's short (less than half an hour long!) Plus, it's pretty rare now-a-days, so I'd order it online if you don't already own it. All in all, however much "Hidden Treasures" costs, it's worth it if you're a Megadeth fanatic and/or collector.

I bought this CD thinking it would be a good review of the good songs found in the hymnal. I had no idea the recording and the choir and musicians on the CD would be so awesome. If you're looking for what black church music should sound like, this CD will thrill you!

FOUND MY "HIDDEN TREASURE"!!!.......2006-05-03
I just picked up this disc 4 years after its release. I'm usually always late when it comes to discovering fresh, hot talent. But I'm always on a constant search to find new music no matter when it came out--just as long as it doesn't sound dated. King Britt a/k/a/ Scuba does an excellent job of bringing you music that will always sound fresh and inviting for years to come. From beginning to end "Hidden Treasures" offers rare, remixed tracks that are every bit atmospheric and catchy as they are groovin' and funky. "Hidden Treasures" will have you feeling remarkably relaxed while at the same time evoking that dancefloor demon inside you. Highly Recommended!!!
A great album people don't know about........2006-03-08
There are some really good tracks on this album. One I feel that is great is "I Bet You Never Thought I'd Find You." This album makes for a nice chill out session.
Top 10 deep house album.......2005-06-21
King britt is as good in deep house music as in hip-hop, jazz, soul, & broken beat...I discovered this CD with the title "High Priestess (Scuba remix). This was the most amazing deep house track I had ever heard. It made me dream, imagine, it was a masterpiece. Deep vocals, dreamy soundscape and catchy drum programming, scuba project is really innovative. Other tracks? really good too. 4X4, Wake Up, Adore...deep house at his best. When you hear it, you wanna close your eyes and goin' trough a long & deep imaginative travel...
Like adventures in lo-fi, Scuba is a fantastic project. Hidden treasures is fresh, and MUST be in your deep house collection.
not really sure yet........2005-02-18
today, i finally decided to throw down the 15 bucks for "hidden treasures". i've read fantastic reviews for this album, and all the reviewers on amazon.com seem to like it. so i sprung for it.
it's taking a little while to sink in. i immeadiately liked the remix, or reconstruction of the tweaker song "linoleum". i think it is great. but, after that, i'm not sure. i'm sure it will grow on me, like a fungus, until it becomes an edidble mushroom, capable of taking my mind to new places. but, until then, i'll give it 3and1half stars.
Smooth Genius.......2003-05-01
Scuba (King Britt) is as versatile as they come. He is able to combine all sorts of sounds from deep house to ambient/chill music. His style of using voices as an instrument, almost like skat music, is amazing. Then he throws it on top of a broken beat that just makes you nod your head. Most of the tracks are not your trance norm, so if you are a remix fan looking for some heavy dancefloor beats, this might not be the album for you. However, if you are willing to expand your horizons, this may be the album to do it.
I am a big fan of the broken beat style. Scuba seems to have mastered it. Its amazing what he has done. This CD is remarkable and I recommend it to all. Happy Listening.

I recently had the privilege of hearing Bob Kindred live. I had never heard of him before, had no expectations when I saw his name on the program, and was blown away by the calibre of his performance. His tone is luscious and full.. in the tradition of Coleman Hawkins. His candenzas and improvisations seem deceptively effortless, and are rendered with impeccable taste and judicious precision. The evening I heard Bob, he played as a member of a small ensemble accompanying a local vocal celebrity. Perhaps heretically, I found myself paying attention to him instead of the singer, and wanting more, much more of his music when the evening was over. If you like Hawkins or Ben Webster, then buy this cd.

Dope album from DJ Bobby B and company.......2006-07-24
DJ Bobby B steps away from KMK for another side project. Only this time he reunites with Cringe, Minus One, and Tristate, his old bandmates in his pre-Kottonmouth Kings group, The Nayborhoods to put out The Hidden Treasures Vol. 1. This album is an excellent work of underground hip hop. I really love the more melodic sound of it, which makes it stand out from the usual stuff out there. Choice cuts: If This Were, Get Cash(feat. Johnny Richter), Goin` Down, and I(Blame It On).

Album Description
Until recently, the national forests of Costa Rica have enjoyed a certain protection from logging and agricultural transformation. But that is changing. Humans have been moving into or near once sheltered areas in increasing numbers and noise (if not actual deforestation) is always a problem for recordists. This lovely day-to-night collage imparts a sense of the magic and wonder that still remains. Recorded in and around Corcovado in the southwest region of the country, we were able to capture treasures evocative of the time spent exploring the remaining rainforests and mangrove swamps in the area.
COSTA RICA: HIDDEN TREASURES. Of the Central American rainforests that still remain intact, few offer the rich soundscape textures of those located in the southwest region of Costa Rica. This recording was made in the forests and swamps of Corcovado, a partially protected biological region that evokes an unchanged sense of what forest life may have been like as recently as six hundred years ago - a time when humans still learned to dance and sing from the voices of present in their respective habitats. Especially evocative are the nighttime sounds in mangrove swamps of crabs when they release themselves from the aerial roots of trees and fall to the mud below as the tide beneath them recedes.

Aine Meenaghan's This night is dark (In Irish) is wonderful. I have often wondered why no record company in America has seen fit to issue a CD comprised entirely of traditional Irish singers who reside in the US. Of all the Irish musical styles it is perhaps the purest, but for some strange reason the least exposed and understood. Surely there are enough great singers in Chicago, Boston, New York, etc. to produce many CDs. As for this one, this one song convinced me it was a great purchase.
Reminiscent of Celtic Fest Chicago..........2001-04-26
Early every fall, Chicago hosts an extravaganza known as "Celtic Fest." It is a celebration of Celtic culture (there is a large Irish population in Chicago); it's easily the best event the city puts on. This album captures all the energy and authenticity of local Irish groups in Chicago. Many of the featured groups can be seen at one of the many Irish Pubs. The CD is recorded extremely well; this is a studio recording (for most songs), but the songs retain an organic and natural sound, just the way Celtic music should be!
I would recommend this CD to anyone who lives in the Chicagoland area, or loves Celtic music - sure, the groups may not be headliners, but this is one of the best Celtic CD's I own. A joy from beginning to end!
