Listen up!.......2007-05-12
This is a good jam...so buy it if you are into death metal...
Greatest album ever.......2007-04-14
This is the best album ever made. I listen to it every day. It's built into my brain or something.
Origin.......2006-07-15
Lots of people talk crap on origin, or say things like "this cd sux get their second one"
they don't have a bad CD.. fact is if you don't like them then they are probably just too heavy for you.
Origin is the heaviest, all 3 of their CDs are 5 stars. The way i would describe them is that the newest CD (this one) has the most production quality (+a different drumming style/drummer), and the first one has a more Raw under-produced sound (which is not a bad thing at all), while the second CD seems to mix the production/rawness quite nicely.
all the cds are different and unique enough to keep me listening to all 3, and all their songs have enough melody/clarity to the point that the songs Do sound different if you listen enough, where as some bands focused on speed in their music all seem to have songs that sound the same. The 2 vocalists have enough voice and tone so they too are instruments instead of just a monotone-vocal death band.
A Must have for any tech/brutal death metal fan.
for each its own..........2006-05-27
Deathmetal has two kinda of fans that ones that enjoy their dm melodic and with lots of guitar solos and the other half enoys just plain brutal and sickning dm and even goregrind which is my taste... Sure you can say goregrind and brutal dm is demented, retarded, just plain sick and godawfull music and maiby thats true but hey whats wrong with being retarded and demented sometimes ?Thats what i love about goregrind & brutal dm bands such as devourment, wacojesus, mortician, brodequin, cannibal corpse, deicide, origin and the list goes on or you can enjoy lame bands like archenemy, dark tranquility, children of bodom, opeth...Which to me ? Their all lame. You can even say ofcourse to some idiot that enjoys only blasting drums and just fast as hell music with no musical concept that should sound right but i say whatever... Brutal dm still reigns high over stupid mtv pop rock bullsh*t and hip hop nonsense. Anyways, origin's "echoes of decimation" has great production and is brutal as hell. Get it !
Impressively brutal album. But that's all there is here!.......2006-05-21
Origin is without a doubt one of the most brutal bands you will ever hear. Seemingly using every album to attempt breaking speed records, and that includes drumming, vocals and album length. This is their third album and if you heard Origin before, you know what to expect. This is ridiculously ferocious death metal that takes no prisoners and barrages the listener within seconds. But that is all you get! Barring the occasional sound clip, you will hear nothing but the Cannibal Corpse-on-speed athletics carnival that the band are renowned for.
I thought maybe these guys would be ready to make a standout album by now. I mean, they obviously have talent to burn. But listening to "Echoes of Decimation" is just a chore. The same guitar trills and hammers are backed up by a constant hammering of blast beats and double bass, while the vocalist sings at a 1000 words a minute over the top. Every track ends up sounding exactly the same. They really need to inject some other ingredients into their music to make it interesting. Slowing down occasionally would make the fast sections more brutal and actually writing a groove or an interlude or something is surely not too much to ask.
Maybe there's a whole group of fans out there that just enjoy this kind of ripping, no messing around death metal, but I personally require much more these days, especially when I've been listening to bands like Nile, Opeth or Nevermore. These bands may be selling at a different store in the metal market, but comparing their latest releases to this makes it look so completely redundant and uninspired. Add to that the fact that the album has a running time of 26 minutes, makes this very bad value for money. I know "Reign in Blood" went for only 29 minutes, but Slayer's genius more than made up for that. This is all over before I've had a chance to find anything interesting.
So, I hereby grant Origin an award for being a seriously brutal death metal act and acknowledge that they can batter the majority of the opposition into a bloody pulp. Now go and write a good metal album!
