Good Rock And Roll Band Here.......2007-05-13

I have liked Guiffria since they first came out in 1984 with this album. Unfortunately they only put out two or three albums and disappeared. In the mid 1980's when rock music was going to pot, Guiffria came through with some good old hard rock to keep the trend going. Bordering on hard rock and metal, this album was superb back then and it is just as fresh today as it was then. With the garbage they call music today, we need more bands like Guiffria and more hard rocking albums like this self-titled album. If you like good rock and roll, and hard rock at that, this is the album to have in your collection.

Somewhat uninspired.......2007-05-12

The previous reviews of this CD were, well, just too kind. Greg Giuffria is of course a first-class keyboard player. But his instrumental skills don't compensate for the more serious drawbacks on this CD. The songwriting is rather uninspired, with few interesting melodic ideas. Also, the gravel-laden vocals don't fit well with this musical style. Listeners who enjoy Greg Giuffria's keyboard work would be better advised to buy the remaster of the first two Angel albums, which were both more melodic and more progressive.

any time you have gregg giuffria and david glen eisley together, something great is bound to happen! one of the greatest keyboardist and vocalist in rock music. would highly recommend giuffria's "silk and steel" and anything from eisley. wow! what a voice!

Quality 80's rock.......2000-05-26

Having once again heard the song 'Call to the Heart' on an internet radio station, I had to get this CD. Have the remnants of the cassette which was played so much it was worn out. One of the greatest bands from the 80's, too bad they didnt continue to put out music as a group. This is some of the best 80's rock ever. Really pumps you up and puts you in a great mood, like most of the 80's bands. FYI-- I picked up a copy of Silk and Steel on CD at a Target store, out of the blue one day. Never would have thought I would find it there. I prefer this disc. Would consider selling the copy of Silk and Steel.

STILL DOES ME RIGHT.....CALLS TO MY HEART!.......2000-05-01

Simply hands down the best pomp rock CD ever. This CD is without doubt one of my desert island discs. Ok, so where to start, lets see....do you love keyboards set to stun? Well you get them here in abundance. Do you love well crafted songs with hooks so strong they never leave you? Well you get that too! Do you like your vocalists to have a little more originality than the latest Robert Plant wannabe? Well you get one here too! This lp never left my stereo when I first bought it in 1984 and it is 2000 now (jeez) and now on crystal clear CD it still spins with regularity. Stand outs? Well Greg's hair on the back cover for a start..(the man is a God)... though seriously song wise try these, the single "Call to The Heart" which is perfectly crafted AOR suitable for radio though not lacking in originality.The magical "Line Of Fire" with its swirling intro,and the room spinning "Out of The Blue" which is the best thing to which Greg Giuffria put a keyboard since Angel. Dont let it go out of print again before you think of buying this one. It took me nearly twenty years to find this on CD! Now..... has anyone found Silk and Steel yet?

Great album, although I have to say that "Silk + Steel" is the best of the only two albums they made.

Great 80's Rock!.......2001-06-06

This is some great melodic 80's rock. Every song on this CD is great. Perhaps a little overdone on the keyboards, and slighty overproduced. But, they don't make music like this anymore. This CD needs to be reissiued domestically so more people can hear this band. Make sure to check out Giuffria's other band, House of Lords, for some more awesome 80's music.

GIuffria, Oh where oh where have you gone?.......2000-03-11

I bought Giuffria's first album on vinyl after I saw them open for Foreigner in Florida at the Hollywood Sportatorium (which is also gone). They were amazing in concert! I don't know how the singer (whose name escapes me right now) managed to continue to sing while darn near doing back flips across the stage. They were all awesome. I'm not sure that this album will ever be considered one of the greats, but I still listen to it every once in awhile. It's definitely worth a listen. I didn't like Silk and Steel as well as the first album, though I still have that one on vinyl also.

I have been a fan of this band for years. I also do think that Silk & Steel is their best ever release. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of Silk & Steel on CD please let me know, or if you are willing to sell. I hope there will be more releases from this band.

If you like this stuff, you will love his first band Angel. Whomever said that he didn't make it like Bon Jovi obviously isn't old enough to remember the band Angel. 70's transition rock at its best. Check it out!

Giuffria was in essence a super group of musicians. Gregg Giuffria has been in (Angel, House Of Lords & Keel), David Glen Eisley has been in (Dirty White Boy, Friderikson/Phillips, Murder's Row & Elements Of Friction), Craig Goldy has been in (Dio & His own cd's), Alan Krigger (Just Giuffria) & Chuck Wright has been in (Bad Moon Rising, Doro, Impellitteri, House Of Lords, Kelly Keeling, Ted Nugent, Magdalen, Magdallan, Murder's Row & Quiet Riot). I prefer this cd to the Self Titled one before it. It has a more polished & radio friendly feel to it. It is getting harder & harder to find since Axe Killer went out of business & the MCA version is long out-of-print & impossible to find. So, if you can find them collect them because they will be worth a lot of money in the near future.

This is much better than the first Giuffria album.With this one they toughened up their guitar sound a bit.This album is a great example of 80's metal.The keyboards sound great,but on certain song it's a bit over done.

2.Love You Forever(5/10)Sappy love ballad.Your girlfriend will like it,but you won't!
3.I Must be Dreaming(5/10)More of the same.Another Love ballad.
4.Girl(5/10)More over used keyboards on this one.Dosen't sound bad though.
5.Change of Heart(7/10)This one picks up a bit.A very good song.The guitar sounds good on this track.If you love the 80's,you'll love this one like I do!

Wish I could review the remaster........2003-06-11

Unfortunately, this one became unavailable before ours was shipped, so I never heard the remaster, but the album is still a great one. I still intend to get the new one if it becomes available again.

Excellent Melodic 80's Rock n Roll.......2003-01-10

I love this cd.It is classic 1980's rock. I first bought this cassette in 1986 and just recently bought this on cd. This was a great strong follow up album to their debut cd Giuffria from 1984. This album is a mix of melodic hard rock and power ballads mixed with excellent synthesizers by Gregg Giuffria and great vocals by Glen David Eisley. I like all songs on this cd,but I especially love TELL IT LIKE IT IS,LETHAL LOVER,NO ESCAPE,GIRL,and ON THE RADIO. These 5 tunes really kick.This cd is a great listening experience.

Take My Hand, I Don't Wanna Walk this Earth Without You.......2003-01-02

In 1987 I discovered the ultimate Rock Love Ballad! Unfortunately, the group never got the promotion they deserved.
These simple words, "Take My Hand, I Don't Wanna Walk This Earth Without You" from the song "I Must be Dreaming" summed up the feelings of young lovers who loved metal perfectly! The Power of "Still Loving You" from the Scorpions is the only thing comparable to the powerful emotions of this one song!
I searched for years for the song unsuccessfully!
I once heard a Live Band in Germany Play the song at a concert and tears came to my eyes. I have bothered every DJ and CD store in my path for the last 15 years trying to find this Diamond of a song. Today, I have realized a 15 year old dream!!!!
