Catchy as HELL!!.......2003-09-25

This is an amazing album!!! The riffs totally blew me away....there are no bad tracks on this album. It is one of those the listener can bang their head to, from start to finish. What an amazing side project from two standout groups, soilwork and darkane...the album is full of energy from very speedy riffs, to some badass breakdowns, and a few great solos!...Klas Idleberg and Mattias Svennson really hold it down..Not to mention that the vocals of Henrik Sjowall are great..he can sing as well as his hardcore type of growl..The song that highlights his vocals are Sown by Greed and Prozak Nation. Everything on this album blends well...The new album is good, but not quite as catchy or as fast as this one..definitely pick the new one up first so that u will enjoy this album much more..Not many reviews have been done, probably because not many have heard of the band....but no worries, the best bands usually are unheard of anyways..Overall, kickass album that gives u a break from Speed Strids vocals which can be monotonous...to bad they dont sound like they did back during steelbath suicide..PURCHASE THIS U WILL NOT REGRET IT!!

Every year I visit the Gods of Metal festival. As I was looking at the lineup I saw a band called The Defaced, I had never heard of before. I was really curious to find out about this band and so went off to find about it. I figured it was a side project by Darkane, Terror 2000 and Soilwork memebers. This was ideal, for quite some while I've thought that the vocals in Soilwork were really annoying...now, I could here some quility Soilwork music with another singer. This was enough for a reason for me to get this disc!
When I put in into my hifi, it really rocked. I was very impressed. There's a very clear sounds from Soilwork and Darkane on this album. I really like the feel it has got to it. The vocals are similar to early Machine Head, and some Pantera. The aggression in the music brings an amazing athmosphere.
The guitars have a familiar swedish sound to them, really heavy-still melodic. Arch Enemy could be taken as an example of what the sounds is like...but also other Swedish bands.

Defaced might not bring anything new of special with it, but it sure is worth a listen.

I can't believe no one has written a review of this disk yet. It's excellent. The songs have tons of energy and are catchy.
It kind of sounds like the direction Soilwork should have taken instead of trying to sing. I strongly recommend this disk...
