Get out your parachute pants........2006-08-21
I did not listen to this with the expectation that it would sound like Kansas. I simply expected to enjoy it on some level.
NOT SO! I found myself rather embarrassed by the childish lyrics and the overwhelming cheesy 80's sound. It's just silly.
If I had a time machine, and could go back to an earlier decade to hear some good music, I would skip the 80's. Of course if your sporting a mullet and enjoy Budweiser and like Winger, you can't go wrong here. Sorry Billy, nothing personal.
BILLY DON'T BE A HERO !.......2005-04-25
RAGING 80'S REHASH.....GET BACK WITH KANSAS AND WRITE SOME NEW MUSIC....PLEASE MAKE IT BE GREAT LIKE POWER, SPIRIT OF THINGS, AND FREAKS OF NATURE AND WHILE YOUR AT IT THROW IN A LITTLE OF SOMEWHERE TO ELSEWHERE SPIRIT....FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT TO DANGLE WITH THE HAIR BAND INFLUENCED MUSIC THIS ALBUM IS IT...THOSE WHO EXPECT PROGRESSIVE MIGHT CRY AFTER HEARING THESE HAIRY TUNES.
Higher expectation than I thought...........2004-07-03
Well, when an artist releases a debut album, he wants to introduce his "Sound", then, the second one is to set what he has been done and make it better, not in this case, I felt a little disappointed (just a little...)in this The Raging Fire, less "rest-songs", less invited guests, less inspired melodies, the best ones are The Sun Will Rise and the hit Always From the Heart, the first one is still a "Classic", if you like it, you can also get "Power from Kansas", which is costing a budget around, if you wanna have this Raging Fire, go for US edition, which comes with an extra song, I bought the imported and missed it....(but I'll buy the US Ed. later, when the price falls down down down...eh-eh-eh...)
FINALLY, GREAT 80'S STYLE HARD ROCK.......2004-06-10
I listen to alot of music, new and old, and there are very few newer releases that I really get excited about and love. I LOVE this cd. This is what melodic hard rock is all about!! Sure, there a few less than brilliant songs here, but the majority of the songs are very well written, well played, well sung, and rock hard! Man, I love this cd. Forget that Billy played for Kansas. This is not Kansas (although I love Kansas). This is great rock and roll with a good mix of guitar, keys and great musicianship. Get it!!
The Raging Fire is Raging Hot!.......2004-05-20
Since the first cd was so good,(4.5 stars), and after reading some negative reviews, I thought I might be dissapointed in this one. Hardly the case. This is a good cd. Contrary to other opinions, I think it gets better as it goes. The first two songs seem to be transitions from the first cd, then it really gets interesting, with taste of Ozzie, Def Leppard, and White Snake. The songs, It Should Have Been You and Winds of War are classic. Winds of War sounds like it could be a Kansas song. The bonus track, though a good song, is just that, as it does not mix well with the other songs. Overall, the songs on this cd are better than the first cd minus the all-star musicians, though the musicians here are great especially Mike Slammer. 4.5 stars

Album Description
Spectacular project from Kansas bassist & newly found vocalist Billy Greer. Featuring renowned players like Steve Morse (Kansas, Dixie Dregs, Deep Purple), Mike Slamer (Streets, Steelhouse Lane), Richard Williams, Phil Eart & Steve Walsh (Kansas). Includes songs from Mark Spiro & others. Sound style is a mixture of Streets melodies & late eighties Kansas. 2001 release.
Customer Reviews:
Greer is better than Walsh.......2007-03-31
Greer sounds more like a Streets era Walsh than Walsh of today sounds(like awful). This cd isn't bad at all
Brilliant music.......2007-01-28
I love this c.d. You have everything in it. Fantastic guitar work, as always from Mike Slamer, great vocals from Billy Greer, a list of whos who from Kansas. All of which translates into a really great album from Seventh Key!! If you love this c.d., look into Slamer. Billy Greer plays on that one for Mike Slamer. They are a fantastic songwriting duo that is so hard to find nowadays. I give this effort 6 stars!!
Seventh key is a pleaseant suprise.......2004-11-26
Didn't expect much from this, just thought it would be a self indulgent release from Billy Greer. Wrong!. The opening tune (the "Kid can play") is a beast!. Billy's vocal ability really shines and Mike Slammer is a frick'n genius. If you have been waiting for Steve Walsh to get his voice back (dont get me wrong Steve is my hero) close you eyes and listen to Sevent Key.
Old rock Hounds will love this. I did!
The best Hard Rock CD in nowadays...........2004-06-08
What a suprise for me, awesome, the meeting of "Steelhouse Lane" guitar + "Kansas" beautiful voice is an explosive melodic Hard Rock, this CD is worth because 50% of the songs are good, which is rare in nowadays, how many times, you bought a CD just for 1 or 2 songs, not in this case, "The Kid Could Play" in bad days "When Love Is Dying" but there are "No Man's Land" "Every Time It Rains" and when he fails he became "Prisoner of Love" and rest in "Broken Home" listening to his "SEVENTH KEY"...
The key here is talent!.......2004-05-11
This is one of the best straighforward rock albums I have ever heard. From the very begining, it kicks butt. There are a few slightly weak songs (Missy, Broken Home) but even those have some redeemable qualities such as Rich Williams guitar solo on Missy. The rest are great. Why wouldn't they be with the talents of Steve Walsh, Phil Ehart, Steve Morse, Mike Slammer and the afore mentioned Williams. Billy Greer not only shines on bass, but also as a vocalist. You will not be dissapointed. 4.5 stars

Kansas Bassist Shines!!.......2006-01-26
Bassist & singer Billy Greer (Kansas, Streets) is from my area & has always been a respected musician by all of us. His new band Seventh Key consists of: Mike Slammer (City Boy, Streets, Steelhouse Lane), Terry Brock (Strangeways, Michael Bolton), David Manion, Pat McDonald (Charlie Daniel's Band), Robby Steinhardt (Kansas) makes a guest appearance as violinist & Billy's brother (Johnny) makes an appearance on guitar. It was a concert of 60 family members & friends. The DVD was shot professionally by Crossover Entertainment Group, Inc. It includes songs from the 1st & 2nd cd's as well as cover tunes like "Sin City" from AC/DC plus 3 bonus studio tracks for a total of 15 tracks. This is one awesome live cd that cannot be missed.
All rock fans MUST have this in their collection!.......2005-11-16
I have never heard of the group before this album. Once this 80 minute live masterpiece was finished, my jaw just dropped. This is what excellent melodic rock is supposed to sound like. Each song is beautifully arranged and executed. After just one listen of each song, they become instantly recognizable.
The outstanding musicianship should be no surprise since the group is made up of melodic rock veterans (ex-Kansas members). Every one of the 12 live cuts and 3 studio tracks is a potential hit in my book. All rock fans MUST have this in their collection!
