Customer Reviews:
This CD Is Essential........2001-09-04
It's not very often these days to come upon a metal band that is just that,a metal band. When you pick up any Imagika
release you'll notice right from the start there are no DJ's no turntables, no beat samples,no rhymes, no dreadlocks,
adidas sweatpants, wallet chains or vans shoes. Imagika have done something in the bay area that's become the exception to the "rule", which is, they stayed true to the roots of Heavy Metal. Imagika are living proof that metal did not nor ever will die. In Addition, they've kept the fading spirit of the beloved San Francisco bay area thrash sound and attitude alive. From the first second of the intro to the final seconds of the last song Imagika are power, thrash, aggression, melody and thrash. Did I mention thrash? Forget about 11, this record is on 20.Imagika have not slowed down since their debut release. Each of the 9 songs is filled with heavy guitars, killer double bass and screaming insane vocals. Lyrically, the album is a crushing portrait into darkness and there's no light at the end of the tunnel.
"And So It Burns" also offers excellent production from Uwe Lulis (currently guesting with Iron Savior and working on new projects) which only serves to intensify the audible brutality of this compact disc. If you enjoy bands like Heathen, Testament, Forbidden, and so on then you should
own this disc. This is a band that stands on their own and
continues to release quality music and is 110% full of heaviness and intensity, without compromise.
Imagika has yet to be recognized in the way they deserve, which
is nothing short of a shame. Their contributions and musicianship are worthy of praise and respect.
No Metal Collection is complete unless you own this disc.
Buy it now.
Thrash Attack.......2001-07-26
Are you sick of "nu-metal" bands like Korn, Linkin Park, Slipnot, and Disturbed? Do you long for the crunching rhythms, chaotic speed, excellent musicianship, and soaring vocals of classic 80's thrash? If you answered yes to the two above questions, then Imagika's And So It Burns will provide you with a definite breath of fresh air. Whether it's the blazing speed of "Chaos To Murder", "Hell" and "Annihilate", the vicious rhythms of "Fallen One", "My Dominion", and "Atrocity", or the eerie melodies of "Darkness Has Come" and "Fade Away", this disc will thoroughly appease your thrash desires. Furthermore, the musicianship and production (thanks to Uwe Lulis from Grave Digger and Rebellion) are top notch! Furthermore, three excellent bonus tracks ("Thief", "When" and "Unheard") have been included on this version of the disc. They were recorded during Imagika's Worship sessions, and all three of them are great tunes! If you consider yourself a thrash fan, then buy this disc immediately.

Forty-Five Minutes from Broadway.......2000-07-15
For anyone who has been searching for a recording of George M. Cohan's classic musical, this is far from a disappointment. The sound is digitally remastered, and the songs are enjoyable. One would hardly suspect the music is almost one hundred years old and the soundtrack more than forty. Besides the catchy tunes, there are insightful dialogue outtakes from the musical itself. This is a must for any Cohan fan and/or any one who has performed in a modern stage version of this "melifluous (which mean "sweetly flowing" in case you were wondering) musical merriment."

Album Description
In this solo departure, Annie Burns continues to demonstrate a knowing, almost magical, ability to express a complex emotion in a simple twist of phrasing. Of the eleven selections, she's chosen to interpret a few that mirror her sensibilities though penned by others.
While Annie's songs are galvanizing even in a cappella form, she has assembled an all-star band to present the cuts on a more fully textured pallet. Dylan's musical director, Tony Garnier is on bass. Guitar gods G.E.Smith, Jim Kimball, Larry Campbell, and Marc Shulman on everything with frets, and Shawn Pelton is the master of percussion. Celebrated others also offer their talents on and between the tracks.

I can't stop listening to this cd.................2002-08-21
You haven't heard this cd yet? Get one now !! No....get several and give them to your friends!! They will be very thankful indeed.
I first saw the Burns Sisters perform a few months back and was knocked out. Then I recently got Annie Burns solo cd and wow.........it is simply one of the most gorgeous , passionate works I've heard in a long long time.Annie has
a beautiful,lilting voice that swoops in and takes over your emotions without you even suspecting.From the first note i was hooked.The songwriting is amazing also; as is the production;
and the performances by the all star band.A sheer joy to listen to.Thank you Annie for this album. The world is a better place because of it.
Like the soft echo of bell on a breeze............2002-07-26
After attending a concert this past Spring at the Mosaic Room Coffeehouse in Avon, MA, I purchased Annie's new CD "Days in Italy" at the table where they were selling the CD's. I already had all of the Burns' releases as a trio, and each of their individual releases, and loved all of them.
On the long ride home, I popped the CD into my car's player and listened to the entire CD. Before I knew it I was home. The entire CD is a departure from any of the other Burns' releases that I have. Annie wrote most of the songs, and they are an aethereally woven tapesty of gentle, yet powerful songs that transported me into a very happy musical plain.
"Days in Italy", the title tune, is dedicated to a close friend of Annie's that passed away, and as the song merrily travels through its tune, I can close my eyes and see the two of them traversing the beaches in Italy. It is a beautiful dedication to a friend, indeed.
Of the 11 songs on the CD, particularly beautiful are "The Owl", "Surrender", "Mystery", "Follow", and "John of Dreams." "Longtime" is a lovesong that touched my heart. Annie's already clear and sweet voice is complimented by the joining of her sisters Marie and Jeannie throughout the CD, and some haunting and unusual instrumentation and vocals effects, as well.
On Sundays, the church bells in the city where I live the ring out loudly and richly. One can hear them from a distance as their echoes trail off and then end. For me, this CD is full of songs that echo like those bells on a gentle breeze, but they are so haunting with their exquisite lyrics and melodies, that I keep hearing them over and over in my head even when they are not being played.
"Days in Italy" is a CD that should have its place in every folk afficionado's music library. If I could give it more than five stars, I would!
magical days.......2002-07-07
I have listened to this music so many times now! We took the cd with us to california and drove up the coast and back down listening over and over to "I Heard the Owl Call My Name," "The Mystery" and of course the title track, dedicated to a dying friend with whom the singer wanted to visit Italy, a visit that never happened but that becomes happily ignited in the chant "La vita e bella." The splendid backing instrumentals and vocals and a delightful voice that ranges somewhere between Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt with passion and verve make this music a delight.

There's no point in comparing this band to any of their influences or bands in any genres. This band stands on their own as one of the best heavy bands of today. A band that's been overlooked for a long time. Buy this disc.
Metal Rules again with ....And so It Burns.......2001-01-03
I have been a fan of this band for some years now.I remember seeing them play a the Road House in Sunnyvale before their first cd came out. I have not heard fromn them in years until I picked up this CD. These guys have come a long way. If you like heavy guitars and awsome melodys this is the it. This disc kept me pumped up all way through. The production on the everything is clear. You can hear every guitar riff and kickdrum.. This metal reminds me of early Priest and Maiden with a touch of Death Angel...this disc you is one you want in you collection.
The resurrection of American thrash.......2000-10-22
This band will bring memories from a time when San Francisco Bay thrash was it. This is a thrash album with some classical and power metal overtones, aggressively played, straight-ahead metal following no trends and jumping no bandwagons. I felt some similarities with Grave Digger's sound and not-surprisingly I found out Grave Digger's Uwe Luis assisted in the production and engineering. What you get on this album is razor sharp guitars, waling solos, thundering drums and very powerful screaming vocals. No trends, no gimmicks, just insane playing. Why did I give this album five stars? First, listening to a band that will stick to the roots of metal and doesn't try to be all commercial is actually a breath of fresh air these days. And second because you just can't do it any better, there are no fillers in this album. The album goes from the insanely brutal like the track "The Fallen One" to the more melodic like "Darkness has Come". The album ends with my favorite track, an 8++ minute masterpiece titled "Fade Away". If you miss the thrash metal scene from the mid to late 80's, and if there's a Exodus, Iced Earth, Death Angel, etc CD in your stereo right now ...And So It Burns is the answer to all your prayers.
