Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Four Years and Change.......2006-10-03

Drive's sound changed quite a bit in the four years since their 1988 debut album Characters in Time. That album had a more power metal oriented sound with some progressive elements, whereas 1992's Diablero is much more of a straightforward hard rock album. Personally, I tend to prefer Characters in Time, but it's hard not to get into Diablero. The album, which at times sounds like a long lost TNT record, is fast-paced, melodic hard rock from start to finish. The high-pitched vocals have a lot to do with that comparison. There are also elements of Dokken and later-day Crimson Glory and Fifth Angel to the overall sound on Diablero. It's a solid hard rock/almost-but-not-quite-metal album that, if you're into the music from this era, should not disappoint.

Unfortunately, Diablero was Drive's final album, as the surge of alternative rock pretty much wiped this kind of music off of the public's radar.

5 out of 5 stars These guys "DRIVE" fast!.......2006-02-24

This album was a big surprize when I got it. If your into heavy fast melodic metal then you will love this one. This offering sounds like the new artists "Rob Rock" on Rage of Creation and also somewhat like Firewind and also somewhat like the Warrior-The Code of Life stuff.I was blown away by the guitar work and the drumming and the vocals are super well done too. The mix seems to be awful close to perfect too. I have to be honest and say I had never heard of this awesome band before I got this one used the other day, but it is getting a 5 because your not allowed to give it what it deserves...a "10".If you like decent 80's-early 90s sounding metal or the afore mentioned artists you will be extremely happy when you get this one. The guitar player is unbelievable. Buy it now!
