About the Artist
History (in the band's own words)
Starting in 1989, Sinister was a band arising in the middle of the Death-Metal hype. After releasing a demo, which sold about 1500 copies, a promo tape followed. Sending out the promo to various labels resulted in signing up at Nuclear Blast Records, Germany 1991. Their debut CD 'Cross the Styx' saw the light in early 1992, and sold many copies worldwide. Many live shows all over Europe followed. Touring with bands like Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse and Deicide increased the number of people knowing Sinister.
In the years after that, Sinister succeeded in maintaining their popularity by releasing their second album 'Diabolical Summoning' (1993), 'Hate' (1995) and doing many live shows all over Europe and a very successful 55 show-tour through all the USA. At the end of this period, Death-Metal got less popular, lots of Death-Metal fans switched over to Black-Metal, Gothic and other atmospherical music. Sinister never thought about playing other music than their favourit; Death-Metal. Some years past and the band released their mini-CD 'Bastard Saints' (1996), and played a few live-shows. Several line-up changes followed, and led Sinister to write their most aggressive brutal and intens album so far 'Agressive Measures' (1998).
This time their faith in Death-Metal payed off. Death-Metal is back, where for Sinister it never left. The response from fans and critics where good, sold lots of albums and played lots of good shows, of wich a short US-tour and good festivals like Wacken open air, Milwaukee Metalfest and Chech Dynamo blessed their way. Yet the cooperation between Sinister and vocalist Eric didn't work out very well, wich lead to Eric's departure in August 1999. But Sinister refused to stop their Death-Metal mission and has found a new singer in Joost (Inhume/Drowning in Tears).
Now 2001 Joost left the stage to concentrate 100% on his project 'Inhume' who got a recorddeal with Osmose. With a new recorddeal and CD coming up, Sinister was searching for a new singer. After some serious tryouts with different singers, Rachel came out best and the band started concentrating on the new record.

Not their best........2006-04-10
I'm not going to say much about this, only that it really wasn't very good and I quickly got rid of the album. If you're new to the band, start with "Diabolical Summoning" or "Cross the Styx." Their newest album (2006) is supposed to be good as well. This one you might want to pass up.
You are better off with Sinister's earlier releases.......2006-01-21
I'd much rather given this album 2 1/2 stars, but thats not an option. A mediocre CD from a band that I once loved. An Over-produced sound with standard death metal riffs and blast beats. Unless you are a die-hard Sinister fan, there really is no need to pick this up. Check out Cross The Styx, Diabolical Summoning or Hate instead and you will not be disapointed.
Excellent Speed/Thrash Deathmetal.......2004-06-30
I have been into Sinister since Cross the Styx and I have to say that they really have never let me down. This album showcases some shredding face crushing speedmetal guitar riffs which make Sinister sound so much better than the rest of the pack. Every song on here is good. Bart is one hell of a guitar player, he shreds in the vein of old Possessed. Vocals are great. The drumming is spectacular however the drum production sounds way too thin and mechanical. This is definitely a Deathmetal CD well worth the money!
Sinister: Creative Killings.......2001-12-29
Another fine serving of in your face death metal:) such a treat. Sinister's latest opus is a non stop frenzy of songs. well done production, clear and precise. Rachel's vocals are a major improvement from her previous band Occult. One gripe i have is that it sounds like she is cupping the microphone for the whole album. the pic inside shows it clearly. oh well. still kicks butt. guitars shred and the drums are well heard minus the fat sounding snare that needs some snap to it and the not so heavy bass drum attack. the classic Possessed cover song Storm in My Mind finishes off the album. though Bart remains as the only guitarist the riffage is still intact. Take a chance and pick a copy up today! Nu-Metal is nothing but a joke. True Metal forever survives the transition of time.
