3 out of 5 stars Why the 3rd rate Rockers?.......2005-12-26

As a Classic and Blues Rock fan, I am curious about these re-mixed stuff (Hey, its the technology isn't it?). With this re-mix, it has tried to ressurect the lives of tired old Hard Rockers of the eighties and early nineties (Kix/Warrant/Bullet Boys etc). There are diabolical versions of Whole lotta love (Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot),Dyer Maker by LA Guns and Rock n Roll by Slaughter. Most of the other covers are interesting to say the least. If the Re-mixers try to keep as close to the original as possible, they will nose dive like a Led Zeppelin (Sic!) and that is why guys like Cypress Hill are a breath of Fresh air. Astralasia are well worth checking out too. With guys like Hayseed Dixie on the circuit doing justice to Classic Rock in their own style, there is still some hope.

1 out of 5 stars Why did I shop in the 75 cent bargin bin?.......2005-09-27

This CD reminds me of the time my friend forced me to see "Grim Reaper" in concert in the '80's. The singer farted, fell down and it took two of his band members to roll him back on his feet.

I am a long time Jani Lane (Warrant) fan and a Led Zeppelin fanatic to boot. This CD should come with a warning label declaring on a scale from 1 to sucksbigtime.

If I could get my money back on this crap, I would sue in a heart beat.

The only thing that could have made it worse was having Jason Bonham recording again.

2 out of 5 stars Problems, problems..........2004-10-08

The main problems with this CD, and with attempting a work such as this in general, are as follows:

1. Of all the millions of popular music recordings made during the last 50 years, some of the works of Led Zeppelin remain at the very, extreme top as the finest of the finest. Any attempt to improve upon, expand upon, experiment with, copy, mimic, or any other departure involving those recordings is doomed to utter failure with virtual certainty. This is like to trying to expand upon a beautiful sunset, it really cannot be done.

2. The works of the vast majority of electronic mix "artists" exists at the bottom of the barrel. It'sd mostly junk, thus making it even more certain that a project such as this will result in little more than annoying dirge.

3. Since techno fans don't listen to Zeppelin, and Zepp fans don't listen to techno, inevitably a CD like this is going to attract all the wrong people and dissapoint them all. Yes, I know I'm over-generalizing, but I'm also right, and you know it.

So, this CD is stanky. So what?

I hope people continue to experiment with all forms of music, and twist, and pull, and turn it inside out, because just as it is with science, out of every 1000 experiments a breakthrough happens, and something wonderful & new is discovered. So keep on mixin' guys!!

1 out of 5 stars Stop it!.......2003-04-21

Stop ruining classic Led Zeppelin songs. They were perfect the first time, and they are still perfect. This CD should be taken off the shelf and crushed into a thousand tiny pieces.

4 out of 5 stars This is not your father's bong-rock.......2002-01-24

Basically, this is not a project for those of you who take your your Zep/Stones/Floyd vinyl records to bed with you every night.
Or those of you who listen to the local "Classic Rock" station 24 hours a day. This is electronica folks..music for people living in the here and now, not 1975. If names like Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, Norman Cook, Danny Saber, Moby, Prodigyy, Goldie, Morcheeba, Junkie XL, Apollo Fourty-Four,
Aphex Twin and The Propellerheads mean nothing to you then DON'T BUY THIS! Just spin Houses of the Holy for the 85,957th time.

For the rest of you this may not be what you'd call a brilliant reworking of Zeptunes, but it does give some new life and energy to these dusty warhorses. Its loud, it rocks and it burns.
