Killer.......2007-07-18
Those of you fans of Spineshank, will appreciate this album. You are going to hear the direction they want their sound to head towards. Fast and heavy with a little slower tunes peppered in the mix. Good rockin' music!
Spineshank's 3rd and last album.......2007-04-13
This is their most commercially accessible album, but I don't mind that as long as they don't sell out completely. It doesn't always have to be brutally heavy for me to like it. It's too bad that they broke up, cause they were one of my favorite bands. Jonny Santos is now heading up a new band called Silent Civilian, which are pretty good. They are heavier than Spineshank was, but have some potential.
Try "Strictly Diesel", their debut album, to get a true taste of what Spineshank is all about. I almost died listening to it once. It was my fault though, not theirs. LOL.
Hmm..........2006-12-29
I'll just get straight to the point why I only gave this 3 stars while most other reviewers gave 4 or 5. I have The Height of Callousness, and I loved it, and I got Strictly Diesel and liked it too, but not as much as Height. The guy screams very well, and when he isn't screaming, his regular talking/singing still sounds hard and intense. Now, when I popped in Self-Destructive Pattern, I was impressed with the first song, because it had fast screaming and at the chorus he sings but it flowed very well and was still angry sounding. Then I got to the next song, when he started to sing, I was horrified. He went from intense screaming to smooth sounding singing. I am already disappointed with so many other bands doing the same thing, singing like some sort of ballad. I went to the title track, and the screaming was awesome, it sent chills down my spine, and then at the chorus yet again he sings, and the contrast as between the intense screaming and the smooth poppy singing was so great, it made my ears hurt. I'm not gonna bother writing anything about progession is good/bad, because I'm sure there are lots of reviews that talk about that, I'm just here to give you my opinion and how this album sounds compared to the previous ones. Also there's way less electronics then before, just so you guys know. I hope I was helpful.
they really should bring in "half star" ratings... 4.5.......2006-04-28
well, i bought this album about 2 years ago and since then my music taste has evolved into more melodic and atmospheric metal. yet, i still feel that the older albums i own (and liked) remain as great albums, despite a change in my music style.
spineshank's 'self destructive pattern' is one of these albums. although when viewed from a broader perspective, it smells just like usual screamy nu-metal... and even though it is, it packs a heavier punch and contains some irresistable melodies and choruses that rival those of 36 crazyfists. most nu-metal style groups release albums that grow tired after the first half of the disc, but this one continues through til the very last song. there is only one minor hiccup, and that is the track "stillborn". for some reason, i can't get into this song. it's one of the heaviest and least of the catchiest, and so i don't believe it should have been added in. for the rest of the songs, they are ALL of high quality, with untouchable choruses found in "beginning of the end", "forgotten", "tear me down" and "fallback", and also more brutality on tracks such as "violent mood swings".
for those into anything around the nu-metal genre, you'd be advised to purchase this one. it's not perfect, but its one of the best attempts at trying to be (in its own category, that is).
A true work of art.......2006-03-22
First off I was wondering when someone would post a review about what skymac2 said....some kid did and I agree with him 100% you can't get a CD that has a Parental advisory label on it without expecting to hear the 'F' word....so skymac2 just admit you don't like the band besides make up some dumb reason not to like it.... that 'Parental Advisory' label isn't just there for looks neither is the caption that says [explicit lyrics]by the title of the album if you bought this from amazon so don't blame the lyrics for YOUR bad taste in music
Enough bashing skymac2 and on to the CD
I Love spineshank I have all three of their CD's and they are great, too. this is a must for any fan of As I Lay Dying or Atreyu. What I think is so unique about this CD is the use of electronics, the guitar riffs, and the lyrics. Spineshank is a truly hardcore band and I really do think that this album is a true work of art. And like spineshank or not you have to admit that they change their sound alot as each album comes out, and unlike Staind and Avenged Sevenfold, Spineshank always changes into somthing better than their previous albums. The more stuff they come out with the better they get is basically what I'm saying. It is a shame the lead singer left but I don't this is the last we will see of spineshank, the other band members are bound to find another guy eventually. If you havn't heard of spineshank then listen to them buy this CD and you will not regret it.

This version sucks.......2004-08-25
This album rocks with dirty lyric cuz of all the cursing. When I bought this, I forgot to check if it was Parental Advisory, but it wasn't. I wasted some money here. DON'T EVER BUY THIS ALBUM EDITED!!!
