Alex Skolnik's shredding second album.......2007-05-07
This was one of the first albums I ever bought. Alex's shredding unique guitar composition makes this a must have. I remember getting this for christmas when I was in 6th grade, after reading about it in a metal mag called Amplified Assault (too bad they only had 5 issues, it was the best). It was the first one I listened to and subsequently learned to play Muical Death on the guitar.
Musical Death is an instrumental guitar piece by Alex Skolnik and it alone makes this album worth buying.
A very inspiring album. 5 star
Listen To the new order! Or I'll burn you to that cross!.......2007-02-18
This is a very good record, and confirms why Testament should be in the big four of thrash in place of Anthrax. The vocals and guitars are meld to create a classic thrash album. The songwriting on here is fairly solid, and there are plenty of memorable songs. The intro song is a great example, after leading off with a winding baroque sounding solo, the song kicks into a great classic thrash stomp with great vocals a memorable chorus and another thrashtastic solo. What more can you want. Songs like Into the Pit, Eerie Inhabitants, Disciples of The Watch, Trial By Fire and the title track are all solid excellent thrashers. Even more the bands cover of Aerosmith's Nobody's fault is BETTER than the origional and is very good along with the beautiful instrumental. The album does have some filler in Day of Reckoning and The Preacher but overall its a solid thrash record that can be comfortably mentioned in the list of top 10 thrash albums ever. Very good. Maybe not essential if you only want a few thrash records to listen to but its still great.
Couldn't be more under-rated.......2006-11-03
Every now and then i forget how totally awesome Testament is, only to rediscover how much i love every single song by them. I'm sitting here trying to think of any flaws and with the band, there just isn't. Great singing, great riffs, great basslines, great drums, great solos, great harmonies, everything. the only one thing i could MAYBE say that isnt so good about the older Testament cds is that the recording quality is very...80's. But if you're into metal as much as you should be, then you should be into all sorts of old 80s bands with not so great recording.
buy this cd people, and every other testament cd while you're at it. they're all pretty much best-of's. you need all of them. you will not be dissapointed.
4.5 stars. Essential listening.......2006-09-14
Are you a little bored with the usual Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeth, and slayer stuff? Want more thrash? Check out this EXTREMELY underrated band. Who are they? you may ask. This band is from the bay area, and their name is Testament. These guys are one of the few great thrashers that never sold out. Their first 3 cd's "the legacy" "The New Order" and "practice what you preach" are all classics. Unfortunately, amazon doesn't hold "the legacy". But "The New Order" is similar anyway, so you can get this instead. Let's go into the tracks shall we?
Eerie Inhabitants: 10/10 with a creepy guitar intro, you may be expecting some sort of weird ballad. but you're dead wrong.... amazing riffs throughout. Alex Skolnick can really shread his guitar!
The New ORder: 10/10 another great thrash classic
Trial by fire: 10/10 "
Into the pit: 9/10 a great thrasher but much too short. Can you guess what you're supposed to do when you listen to this one?
Hypnosis: 8/10 a bit weird. just 2 minutes of... well weirdness. nothing much to it really
Disciples of the watch: 10/10 Testament get back on track here, with a great thrasher. 5 minutes of pure head banging.
The preacher: 9/10 This song ain't bad. A bit below par when compared to Disciples of the watch
Nobody's fault: 10/10 one of my personal fav's of the album. This is great!
A day of reckoning: 9/10 this song is exactly 4 minutes. These are the times when you're kind of bored. some of the songs on this album may sound similar to each other. needs a few listens to get used to.
Musical death: 10/10 another one of my personal fav's. A great instrumental.
overall this is a great thrash classic. This is a must own along with Rust in peace, Master of puppets, Seasons in the abyss, and Among the living.
Reign of Terror goes on.......2006-08-19
Gang vocals - a trademark of the Bay Area thrash scene and often emulated by thrash acts from outside that region. In many reviews of Bay Area thrash acts, the gang vocal factor is often ignored. But it was the bellow of the band as a whole that helped propel the songs and give them bombast. Testament uses the gang vocals style to perfection on both "The Legacy" (especially "Curse of the Legions of Death" with its primal "Provoke the dead!") and on this, their sophomore release, "The New Order." Just check out the title track and, yes, the mosh pit masterpiece "Into the Pit." The energy is frantic and contagious. When I saw them in Syracuse, NY on their tour for this album almost twenty years ago, the pit was a sweaty surge of bedlam.
No, Testament did not top the cathartic brilliance of their debut album, but they suffered no sophomore slump either. Every song on this album is a thrashing slap of power and riffs. Did I mention the energy? The aggression? The way the band works seamlessly as a unit, with bellowing Chuck Billy as ringmaster keeping the rage in focus?
It's no wonder that most new metal bands pale in comparison to classic thrashers like Testament. How do you top the intensity of the Bay Area scene from the late-80s? Answer: you can't and you don't. You merely pay respects to the masters.

'Bout Time!.......2004-04-10
Finally my man Suga Free realeases another LP. I have been waiting for this along time, but it was definitely worth it. The PIMP is at it again, with bangin beats all over the album.
Sad though, this album wont sell much, 'cause Suga Free is painfully underated. But, since you're reading my review, and you got my word on it that this is the bomb, buy it right now, you will be bumpin' this all summer, it perfect for the car, rollin' down the beach-line with your windows open. That's the way of life. Support Suga Free and let him get what he deserves, West Coast rap is underated as well, so I suggest you buy this together with the new from Dilated Peoples and the new from Messy Marv.
Suga's flow is, of course on point through this realease, and lyrically it's entertaining and fun. Give it up for the PIMP himself, Suga Free keep doin' your thang.
Crab yourself a copy today. Definitely recommended!
Another Classic.......2004-04-03
This is Ty-Dog from the east coast. Yo Free, pop ya collar on both sides man. You got another classic. Every track on this cd is tight. Suga Free pimps the (...) out of a track. Congratulations pimp.
Solid.......2004-04-01
It's nice to play the whole thing through. From track 2 to track 15, it's nothing but smooth grooves, tight beats, and solid pimp rhymes. DJ Quik's beats are the spirit of the album throughout.

FANTASTIC CD!.......2002-07-25
PLEASE SEE MY REVIEW ON THE STATLER BROTHERS "THE OLD TESTAMENT". IT IS GREAT AND THIS CD IS TOO!
holly bible: new testament.......2001-06-23
I love this cd but it skips, i bought it about 3 months ago, ive tried to figure out how to return it for two hours, i want to trade it for the same cd any suggestions???
Great Gospel Album!.......2000-06-23
I have been listening to this audio tape for YEARS and YEARS, and never tire of it. I am pleased that I can now buy a CD of "The Holy Bible" by the Statler Brothers.
This is a cleverly done piece of spiritual music........1999-08-31
The Statlers' have taken the Bible stories and recorded very clever songs to illustrate them. Some of the songs are written by the group and some are old favorites, but each one is enjoyable and fun to sing along with. From the creation to the second coming, you will laugh, cry, and rejoice through the music and lyrics. Even if you do not particularly enjoy gospel music, I think you will appreciate the creativity that went into this collection of songs.
A historical, musical review of Christian tradition.......1999-01-24
The Statler Brothers musically tell the story of the Christian faith--from the beginning to... eternal hope. They marvelously tell the old time stories of faith and inspiration. The accurate, historical portrayal of Biblical events is educational and motivating. "The Holy Bible", Old and New Testaments, is, perhaps, the Statler Brothers' greatest musical production.

Yukmouth's best work!.......2006-09-22
Standout tracks:THUG LORD, OH BOY, WE GONE RIDE, THUG MONEY, DO IT RIGHT, WORLDS MOST HATED, OOH OOH, REGIME KILLERS 2001(Master P and Too Short diss), SMILE and NEW TESTAMENT OUTRO(I00 bars of yuk's life story). Filler: Clap your hands(Too commercial, High maintenance(Lil Mo cant rap!), Puffin Lah(project pat type of record and So Ignorant. Bottom Line: Yukmouth is one of the nicest emcees out of Cali since Xzibit and he proves that with this album. Even though most of Yuk's albums tend to be questionable this one was his best effort and also adds him to the list of underrated emcees.

Overall: 56.5/70
4 Stars
Yuk brings the heat on almost all of the tracks on this album. It could have been a little better but its definitely an album you shouldn't sleep on. Support the bay and pick this ish up.
4.5 star second solo LP - Yuk's best.......2004-12-01
Yukmouth is back after a two year break to bring his 2nd solo LP and by far his best to date. It starts off a little weak but once you get to track 5 it never stops (except for one song). Half the songs feature other rappers. Production is done by a few people (Mike Dean - 6 songs: Mr. Lee - 3 songs, and LT Hutton & P Killer trackz contribute a song each as well as a few others) and they do a good job. Has about 3 ok songs and 2 I skip, but also a few classic joints and a bunch of great songs. A definite must have album for hardcore rap fans.

Chi love.......2005-08-24
Dis cd has a lot of filler. My favorite song would probably be HE lay. it probably has about 12-15 out of the 28 tracks so spend ur money wisely its up ot you. if i were u i would buy it and love it chi love too the fullest
Good if you like trash........2003-10-27
When I bought this CD I figured I'd find at least 5 or 6 good tracks on it since there are so many. After listening to the album for about a week I decided to send it back to the producers. I put the cd back in the case and mailed it back to chicago with a note asking for my money back. One year has passed and I still have yet to see my money. Don't buy this CD until you are able to listen to at least a couple tracks first. When I bought it I hadn't heard any of it and was dissapointed. I guess Twista doesn't do it like he used to. He's sold out especially since he went to Roc a Fella. Maybe Jay can give TWIST some better beats while he's there. I wanna send a shout out to Big Al in Vegas and my dogg Andy K out in Arizona. Holla!
This Album is the epitome of "Huffness".......2002-08-01
I've been down with both the chicago hip-hop and chicago gangsta rap scene since day one, and anyone who says that this album is in the least way decent must either be clueless, or merely confused. I've witnessed Twista's style develop and transform throughout the years. From his early days with his incredibly fast debut "runnin' off at da mouth", to his second LP "Ressurection" (which was never released due to legal issues, but can still be obtained at several underground hip-hop stores around chicago) to his third and fourth lp's Adrenaline rush and Mobstability, with every album being unique in it's own way. But the Twista we used to know and love is no longer. Street Scriptures sounds like an awful rendition of an almost "No Limit" sound. This album is a disgrace to twista and to chicago in general. Hopefully he ends up on MTV right next to Puffy, with his next lp Kamikaze, and every boy and girl will walk around singing his hook unaware of the great Twista we all used to love.
It's a cool lil cd.......2002-04-21
The cd is cool fo what it is i like all the songs but the one that he had weak people on but i wanna know is when twist is comin out with another cd or video
holla back
Is this even twista?.......2002-01-18
This is the worst album twista has EVER put his name on. When I first heard it I didn't even think it was twista. The songs are hella weak. This album is NOTHING compared to his others. Please, don't waste your time with this album, pick up adrenaline rush or mobstability. Anyone who gives this a good rating doesn't know sh-t about twista or chi-town. Trust me, no one in the city is listening to this one.

Customer Reviews:
Another side of Bunk.......2001-04-01
Bunk Johnson was a highly trained musician, who as the 1940s progressed became increasingly contemptuous of George Lewis, Jim Robinson and the other "emergency musicians" he recorded with from 1942 - 1946. This band eventually broke up in acrimony.
In his 1946 trio recordings with Don Ewell, Johnson had demonstrated an interest in a repertoire far wider than the New Orleans standards he was generally associated with. This CD, Johnson's final studio recordings from December 1947, take that process further. Bunk fan Harold Drob had arranged for him to resume his residency at the Stuyvesant Hotel in NYC, this time with a band which he chose himself. Although Danny Barker and Wellman Braud were both New Orleans musicians, the rest of the ensemble were long standing New York session musicans. After playing together for seven weeks, the band recorded the tracks that comprise this CD.
The result is an album that sounds very different to Johnson's previous recordings. This is disciplined, arranged music, with more space for solos that usual, and includes a series of ragtime pieces from Stark's famous "Red Back Book" which Johnson greatly admired. It is less buoyantly swinging than the American Music recordings, but it has a slightly old - fashioned charm of its own. Perhaps more interestingly, it shows Bunk, often criticised as being over the hill, in total command of his instrument and playing inventive solos and providing a firm ensemble lead. "Some of these Days" and "Till We Meet Again" should dispel all doubts about his musicianship.
Many of his fans were dismayed when these pieces were first released, and those weaned on the American Music, RCA and Decca tracks will still find them surprising listening. What they demonstrate is that Johnson was a more interesting musician than many critics gace him credit for at the time. Recommended.
