TEN YEARS OF EXCELLENCE.......2002-04-24
This is a great buy. The videos are great and the extra demos are awsome. Don't be fooled by Tagtgren's apology for the quality on the demos, they are great songs and are well recorded. This is well worth the price for any metal fan.

A whole nother demension of metal, via HYPOCRISY..........2003-12-27
Hypocrisy has a very very very unique style thats all there own, not quite death metal, not quite black metal,. This cd spans there 10 year career. I got this at a concert after seeing them play live, and seeing the live show cirtanly enlighted my experience of this cd because they were amazing. Very good showcase of hypocrisy's 10 year reign in metal. I would suggest picking up catch 22 as well, its a little diffrent than their older stuff but very good.
My first H. Experience is a good one (4.4 stars).......2002-07-11
A friend of mine had become a huge H. fan and told me that they are an excellent death metal band. Well, I was at a local CD shop, and I saw this 2 CD set for only 14.99, so I decided to grab it. I'm glad I did.
I'll first get my knit-picks out of the way. One thing is that no offense to H. fans or H. themselves, but some of their songs get pretty repetive and you sometimes ask yourself 'Didn't we just listen to this?', and, now that I've listened to the original songs, I believe they should have just put the original versions of the songs they redid. Also, they could've done with a few more songs. They're pretty short too, so I mean if they had 18 tracks this would probably be perfect.
But, those are only minor details. Other than that, everything is great on this album. Production is incredible (even pretty good on the demo stuff), the videos are absolutely awesome, this introduces new H. fans very well, the musicianship is great, and every song shreds.
The Band:
Peter, guitars, vocals, and keyboards- Peter seems to keep the melody of every song great, while still ripping, and while going at a slow pace (see 'Roswell 47' for details). Every guitar line is great, and I think it's really cool how Peter isn't ignorant and actually takes a second guitar on the road with him. All his keyboard lines are beautiful too.
Mikael, bass- Due to Tatgren's production, we get to here Mikael's superb talent. His low end bass tones boom through the background through just about every song. Having the bass so out there in the music makes H. that much more heavy.
Lars, drums- This guy is great too. Not only are his bass drums loud and clears, his cymbals snare are surprisingly crisp. Plus, don't think that just because H. play some slow, brooding songs, that this guy can't play. Check out track 5 to see what I mean.
All in all, the CD is awesome for any new H. fans. I don't think it would do much for old fans though, but if you've got a bunch a cash on yer hands, this is a good buy.
Some people just don't get it!.......2002-02-20
I think some people miss the point of this release. Think about it, this is great for newcomers AND people who already have all their stuff (like myself). A person new to the band gets a good idea of what they sound like and older Hypocrisy fans get to experience 6 favorite songs re-recorded with a little different feel. Mandatory metal!
A Little Disappointed.......2001-09-18
I was slightly disappointed by this cd, & it's hard for me to say that, seeing as I am the biggest Hypocrisy fan I know. Although it has a great selection of songs on it, the 6 remakes are nowhere near the caliber of the originals, or to the versions off of "Destroy's Wacken Live" (with the exception of Penetralia). The remakes are saturated in keyboards that just don't fit, & the vocals are oddly produced with odd effects over them. I wonder if Peter still reigns as the best death vocalist. The original demos aren't really worth anything, but I am not really a fan of old Hypocrisy. The song "Turn The Page" was an experiment in aggro/nu-metal, & sounds very similar to Slipknot, a band I am not a fan of. I would like to recomend this cd to anyone who has never heard Hypocrisy, but because of the remakes (& failures) of the classics, I would have to tell all the Hypocrisy newbies to go for "Destorys Wacken Live", because this is more for regular fans of Hypocrisy.
10 years of chaos, confusion and killer metal!.......2001-09-14
This is more than just a "best of" and certainly a worthy purchase. Here you have 6 re-recorded songs that sound far more crushing than the originals. If you happen to get the limited 2-CD set, you will also get both Hypocrisy demos (from '91 &'92),one new song (Turn The Page) and 6 promo clips in CD-ROM format all on the extra CD. According to what I read, "Turn The Page" is just an experimental song and not the future direction of Hypocrisy. I didn't really care for the song myself. The booklet contains a detailed history of the band and lots of photos. Here's to 10 more years of chaos and confusion!
