5 out of 5 stars Debatable quality, I love it........2006-05-01

I'll put this out there right away: This is exactly the same thing as the Some Kind of Monster CD except each have a different title track (SKOM vs Unnamed Feeling). Well, I think it's agreed The Unnamed Feeling was the best track off of St. Anger, so I went for this album rather than SKOM.

The live tracks. Hilarious at times, especially Ride the Lightning. Leper Messiah is the best one, but The Four Horsemen, Hit the Lights, and Damage Inc are all strong too. James doesn't sound the greatest, but he does sound better than on St. Anger. I'll leave it at that before I get too repetitive with other reviews.

Awesome title track, comical vocals, and great Kill Em All live performances.

4 out of 5 stars Oh Man, this is a riot!.......2006-03-09

I purchased this release for the reason that I think most people did, the extra live tracks, which feature some classic Metallica songs, and because I wanted to hear the band with Rob as the bassist. Skip over the first track, it is nothing special and head for the live tracks. Interestingly, these tracks were recorded at three different gigs in France, which all occured on the same day in what turned out to be the hottest day recorded in French history. The live tracks for the most part, are recorded pretty well for being live, but are a slop fest. Sometimes certain instruments overpower others, but hey its live what do you expect? James' voice has improved since St. Anger but is still pretty bad. Of course Lars is totally sloppy. Maybe they were tired and hot, which would explain a lot. One part of "Ride The Lightning" James forgets his own lyrics and utters "I forgot the F*** words" and suprisingly it doesn't sound bad because its all at the same pitch and what not as actual lyrics are suppose to be at. I didn't catch at first, my friend pointed it out to me and when I cought it for the first time I laughed so hard. Overall, a bunch of decent live recordings. Recommended to any true Metallica fan, just don't waste your time with the first track.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD for the real fans.......2004-07-15

This cd is great for all of you that still don't cry and whine about all the stuff they've done. I admit i didn't like the St. Anger album at first but after a while it grows on you. The Unnamed Feeling is probably my favorite track on the album and having the live songs is a bonus. Not many times you can hear some of the old songs live damage inc., and leper messiah live. I listen to all their material and appreciate change because if they didnt change half of you would be whining cause they sound the same.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2004-07-06

I rated this cd with 5 stars because it is Metallica playing their classic material. The stand out track is Hit the Lights, they play it so fast and James' vocals are right on, not to mention that he sounds like he is haveing the time of his life. Ride the Lightning and Damage Inc. are also great. I am so happy to hear them playing the songs that made them kings, on April 20th I saw them on Long Island and they played an amazing set that ended with Metal Militia, the first time they played it since 1984. The live tracks on this cd will also be on the US release of Some Kind of Monster.

3 out of 5 stars great songs played sloppily.......2004-04-12

I have to disagree that "Unnamed Feeling" is the best track on St Anger. I much more prefer the title track or Purify... because of that, the extras on this cd are the real reason to buy it. All the live songs are hard hitting, popular, classic Metallica. The recording are top notch for live although some of the instruments in a few of the songs are too distant. My main complaint is that the timing of the songs are off. The tempo changes in Leper Messiah and Damage Inc are muddled. The riffs in horsemen and hit the lights are off beat, and lars plays a few of the sons with the new st anger drum set. I like the cd but only as an addition to the real recordings. If I had found this on the street I would have thought this was a cover band.

4 out of 5 stars Good but not steller.......2004-03-04

This disk is for the essential collector. However, the recording of master of puppets is awesome right up until james hums over the solo in an attempt to get the crowd to sing the solo as they play it. Trust me, it is annoying when you listen to it! The cd overall is good except for James' sillyness during master of puppets. Dirty Window gets a solo but it doesn't seem to fit. Also, the song sounds flimsy live compared ot the studio version. Usually I prefer metallica live. I recommend this single if you buy enough singles you can almost burn your own 2003 concert....I would also recommend the maxi single of unamed feeling it is really good. Also METALLICA COULD YOU RELEASE A FEW MORE TRACKS FROM THE NEW TOUR (Frantic, ST> ANGER, UNAMMED FEELING, SOME KIND OF MONSTER) Better yet how about another LIVE disk!!!! WE will buy iT!!!!

I possess FM broadcast shows that flatten this one. If interested for trading (no selling or buying)bootleg shows email me at eternalnight@msn.com

5 out of 5 stars The Named single.......2004-02-26

I've just got this great copy of this Australian edition single. Obviously the first thing i did was to listen to this single. It's great to have this exclusive version, the art work it's great. The winner for the cover must be more than proud.

Well The Unnamed Feeling song everyone has listended to it, it's the same version that the one on the album, great song, great lyrics, just great. From day one I had St. Anger it was my third favorite song on the album, I'm glad it came out as a single.

Dirty Window, also one of the greatest songs from St. Anger. This time live, not like the one on the rehersals DVD. But a great tour alive song. Well, I might say that a nice guitar solo was included on this song. Since no song on the album has a solo, it was a very nice tocuh to add this into the song.

Master of Puppets live, well... how many times have I heard this song live, so many live perfomances, different sounds, shot version, long version...different years... well they still play it just as always AMAIZYNG!!!!!!!

Battery live!!!! well, what's different this time??? After so long, they have included the opening accustig guitar intro into that song, as it's supposed to be.

The sound of this three live versions are much better than the live versions on the frantic singles. You can feel the vibe on the show.

This guys have changed a lot, for good as always. This guys are reallly a live band, more that an album band. And you can get this on this excelent edition for this single. It's going to be great playing this versions and this single on my drums.
