Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Cybergoth is the current buzz-word to describe this as essentially a dark techno record. Album opener 'Sex' is, somewhat misleadingly, a poppy euro techno type track given the typical JV lyrical twist, swiftly followed by the hard trance pounder 'Elektra' that has been hammered by DJ's on promo for a year. Flirting with almost mainstream pop production values gives the album a commercial feel but the dark lyrical underbelly of lost love and perversion remains throughout. From Earache Records.

    4 out of 5 stars Confession...........2004-04-28

Ok, I have a confession to make. When I first got this album, I was more than a little bit disapointed, and so I wrote a rather scathing review of it right here on Amazon.com.

However, over the last year or so, I have found myself listening to this album more & more. It's a grower, you see. And while it will never top the audacity of Life of Destructor, the rawness of Shocker or the darkness of Killing God, it is still one of the better hardcore albums available out there at the moment.

The highlights for me have to be: Airbreak (a remix of Johnny's b-side "Darkroom" from the Paranoid single), Speed & Distance, Dark Station and Diamonds.

So open your mind, turn up the bass, and enjoy.

2 out of 5 stars What the f**k?.......2002-12-11

What can I say? This album (and we Ultraviolence fans have had to wait over three years for this!) promises so much, but completely fails to deliver. Despite a couple of fairly decent tracks, the album is mainly hard "dance" songs, with a lot of cheesy lyrics.

After the I, DESTRUCTOR e.p, the brilliant LIFE OF DESTRUCTOR (the first album), the so-so PSYCHO DRAMA, the above-average SHOCKER (recorded under his Johnny Violent name) and the VERY good KILLING GOD, you would have expected something pretty special from Mr Violent. But I was so disappointed with SUPERPOWER. Where's the hardcore? Where's the, well, violence? And just when it seems that the music is going to finally get to the good stuff, the album ends! Very poor. I just hope that next time, he delivers his promise.

    1 out of 5 stars No way.......2002-11-19

This album is music for wimps. Everything that made ULTRAVIOLENCE so great, is painfully absent from this turd of a release. If you are into wussy house music that fronts as hardcore and need some music for your lame Ecstasy trip, this'll do, if you really want to torture yourself.

    5 out of 5 stars Thank God.......2001-11-23

This album is beautiful beyond words. I am an avid UltraViolence fan and have been craving new material, and SuperPower delivers. Many UltraViolence fans haven't been satisfied with the last couple of albums and have been losing interest in this pioneer of electronic soundwave glory, but SuperPower is a slap in the face to anyone thinking he's lost his touch. I love so much I put it on my top ten albums of all time list. You have to get SuperPower to see what I mean. SuperPower speaks a different language, words don't do it justice. Listen to understand.
