Two very good cd's re-released on 1 cd . There is some fantastic guitar playing here . I'm not crazy about the vocals , I like the stuff he (Impellitteri) recorded with Graham Bonnet singing much much better .But musically it is a very good cd .

Customer Reviews:
Impellitteri: Screaming Symphony.......2005-07-29
This is Impellitteri's best album in my opinion. Rob's vocals
are top notch. Chris' guitar work is always amazing. This time
he does not "shred" as much as in previous albums. I have bought
this cd four times now. I keep wearing it out.
Scream Supreme.......2005-05-16
While all of Chris Impellitteri's work is of high quality, it is with this 1996 release that the band hit its zenith.
This piece of metal mayhem is complete. The production is outstanding. The musicianship is stellar. The lyrics, while Christian in nature and scope, are interesting and well written and still offer much to a secular audience. The singing, courtesy of the great Rob Rock is over the top, as Rock hits fantastic high notes throughout the album. I am surprised he never was up for the Priest gig after Rob Halford left the band, as he would have been terrific.
But what makes a great album is really the songs, and there is no lack of terrific songs here. "Screaming Symphony" does not contain a single duff track. Everything on offer is high quality, up tempo and catchy as hell.
Every song except for the instrumental "17th Century Chicken Pickin'" is structured the same way: Verse, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Solo, Chorus. This is OK. It works. The longest song on the album clocks in at only 4:21. No song on "Screaming Symphony" exists long enough to get tired of. Virtually any of the songs would have made for great radio listening, especially "I'll Be With You", "Walk Away", "Kingdom Of Light", and "Rat Race".
I must compliment Mr. Impellitteri for the restraint he shows in his soloing. It actually enamours his playing. Impellitteri plays for the song. Each solo is sheer shred, but structured to simply fit the song and not go off unnecessarily. The solo's are short, fast and to the point. His fluid playing and crisp clear guitar sound make listening to him a pleasure.
If you purchase one Impellitteri album, "Screaming Symphony" is a must buy.

Customer Reviews:
Required listening!.......2004-10-06
For my money, Mark-Anthony Turnage is the best composer the UK's produced since Benjamin Britten; and if he keeps up his standards he might exceed Britten in significance. Admittedly, his music is not for everyone, it's often brash and noisy, filled with saxophones and percussion. But it's also superbly crafted, not only in terms of its dynamic shape--the overall form--but also on the level of melody. Even the noisiest of it is melodic in a way that audiences willing to give it a chance can follow. Drowned Out, for example, starts with a clashing introduction, but hidden in the introductory chord is the falling figure which is shortly revealed as the main motivic material in the piece. An extended theme in the cellos, later joined in some terrific orchestration by all the strings plus tuba, is created out of this motivic unit in traditional ways so that anyone is aware of the unity of the theme, even if they can't describe its creation through processes of inversion, extension, etc. Most importantly, it's a compelling melody, perfect for the mood Turnage is trying to create.
Three Screaming Popes (great title!--from a series of paintings by a modern English artist) is for me the best work on a CD full of terrific pieces. Jazzy and sinister and colorful, it's a wild orchestral romp like the Rite of Spring, updated. Kai, for cello and ensemble, shares the sound world of Three Screaming Popes, with the sinister saxophone wailing away like a demented jazzer in a heroin daze. Turnage really shines with the orchestration here, making a smaller ensemble sound like a full orchestra. Only in the final work, Momentum, does the CD in fact lose Momentum. The piece starts out in a very promising way, but about halfway through takes an unexpected turn into a very explicitly jazzy passage that doesn't come off as effectively as similar passages in other works. Momentum doesn't quite jell, and in fact doesn't come to the thunderous conclusion we're lead to expect from the title--around the 6th minute of a 10 minute piece it loses energy and never picks it up again. But if it's a miscue, it's one that can easily be forgiven due to the strength of the rest of the CD. If you have adventurous tastes at all, you must buy this CD.

Good guitar.......2002-02-14
Overall this album is pretty good, but it seems a little repetitive in spots late in the album. The first track blew me away, but then by the end it was getting older. Shredding guitar work by Mr. Impellitteri, but this album isn't as good as some of his other efforts.
Pure hard rock in its better way.......1999-10-17
Power, passion and skill in this record. Chris Impellitteri is one of my favourite guitar player and he makes progress record after record. His style is trenchant, fluent and high-technical. Moreover Bob Rock vocals are noteworthy and all members of the band are excellent musician. I suggest this album and the others records of Impellitteri to the Malmsteen fans and to everyone who likes true hard rock. The only negative criticism for this record is its shortness (33 min).

Customer Reviews:
This album ROCKS!!!.......2003-03-10
This is Impelliteri at his best. A heavy progressive sound that should be heard in the USA.
If this album got U.S. airplay, it would have been a hit. You also get the album "Screaming Symphony" as a bonus disc.
A great disc.......2001-06-05
This disc has great power. It's sort of a combination of neoclassical, power, and thrash metal with a super excellent guitarist. The song "17th Century Chicken Pickin" is one of my favorite shred instrumentals. Only downside is that sometimes some of the songs start to sound the same (can't hink off hand, but the opening riff to "speed demon" can be heard in about 4 other songs) a good disc for those interested in shred and metal.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!.......2001-01-26
I stumbled across this band purely by accident (like I do with many, I'm happy to say) :D and I was totally blown away by the power displayed by this band. This was a breath of fresh air from Malmsteen and the like, the vocals are killer, the guitar shredding makes me scream (not literally) with delight at its creativity and power. The song writing is very good too.
Santana can die. Chris shreds him to pieces (ha!)
Also, if u like this and u like thrash metal with great soloing, you may possibly like Vengeance Rising.
I end saying that I must needs put this group on my list of CDs- to-buy, (I'm listening to them on ...). Oh that reminds me. ... is the only way I buy CDs now. No pre-listen, no buy!! And there are many more like me that I know of, so to all u peeps who think ... is bad and loses artists money, think again! It probably ends up gaining them MORE money! In an official pole, like at least 60% of a thousand or more of ppl poled said they'd buy the CD.
What you really need to look at to deter ppl from abusing Napster, is the car audio CD/MP3 players that are out, which allow ppl to take their MP3s with them. Those will be the real culprits! Not ...!
A Worthwhile Purchase..........2001-01-23
I haven't listened to Impellitteri since "Stand In Line". (due to Graham Bonnet's departure)Guess I've missed out! At first listen, "Crunch" is a well crafted disc that begs to be heard by the masses. Rob Rock's vocal range is quite good, though I'd like to hear him belt it out a bit more. (scream for me!)All the guitar riffs are fresh and don't suffer from what I like to call "Malmsteen syndrome". (too much soloing) Since you get both "Crunch" and "Screaming Symphony" for one price, its an offer you shouldn't refuse. I'll add to this review or start another after listening to "Screaming Symphony".
A great combination.......2000-11-17
I don't think Crunch is as good as Screaming Symphony, but what the heck.
Chris's guitar shredding is second to none, and Rob Rock's vocals are awesome. Its a shame that he has left Impellitteri to pursue a solo career.
An absolute must-buy combination, and its great to see bands still playing no-compromise, heavy, crunching, guitar driven music like this
