Electric Wizard - 'Supercoven' 2-track EP (Bad Acid).......2004-03-19
I've always dug this 2-track extended CD single as much as any other Electric Wizard release.Mostly because of the twenty minute epic "Burnout" which sounds a bit like Monster Magnet doing a triple dose of valium. It's bloody fantastic! Then we get the twelve minute title track "Supercoven" which sounds like it could easily be a long lost in a subterranean vault Sabbath cut.Hey,you can never be to sure.At one time,I did CD reviews for the label Bad Acid that put out a couple of well written issues.
SUPER-HEAVY SUPER-METAL.......2003-07-10
For all of the hype surrounding nu-metal and pop metal success these days, it's nice to see a REAL metal band still plugging away. These two tracks contain more real music and emotion than a 1000 Linkin Parks. Supercoven is the most balls-out, heavy, HEAVY doomrock you are ever likely to hear. The title track, clocking in just under 14 minutes, and it's b-side, "Burnout", coming in over 18 minutes long, leave you with ample time to load your bong and sit back and let the sonic pummelling begin. As doomrock goes, this is the high point of the genre.

SUUUPAAA-COOOVEN, I've awakened, the ancient OOONE.......2007-05-06
Seriously, I have no respect for anyone who puts down such a momentous Stoner/Doom EP. THe song Supercoven alone makes this a must have for any fan of electric wizard, stoner metal, doom metal, or sludge. This record expands on Come my fanatics in heaviness (yes, it is possible) but adds the Dopethrone vocal style. I am appaled by so many people giving this record bad ratings. Especially those Wizard fans out there. How could u not enjoy listening to this? And the other songs other than the title track are good too.
one step above Come my fanatics...
one minor step below Dopethrone
A good E.P. with some memorable moments........2004-06-28
Electric Wizard is my favorite band. They write some killer songs, they have some great riffs, and of course, the songs are strectched out to infinity. So, I decided to get this E.P. last. I heard it was good, but not great.
Track 1, Supercoven, is the best thing on the album. 13 minutes of pure doom with a weird echoed guitar in the beginning. The riffs are really good, and the playing is top notch. Jus's singing is really strong in this song.
Track 2, Burnout, on the other hand, didn't do it for me. IT started out real good, then about 6 minutes, it starts to get really boring. I was hoping for a slower, more doomy section, but it just turned into a noise-fest. It gets old after a while.
Track 3, Wizards Of Gore, is an interesting one. Recorded in 1993, it shows the band before they got a record deal. It's good for a histroical note, but it sounds too much like Saint Vitus, which I never liked. There is the riff from Return Trip in there, however. That's ok.
Track 4, Electric Wizard (live), is the other good song. IT is a live version done in Holland in 1998. It sounds rawer, and has more of a Come My Fanatics sound to it. It really shows the power of the Wizard live.
This E.P. has about 2 good songs. So, if you're into what Electric Wizard sounded like before the 1st album, or if you're into Saint Vitus, check it out. For diehard fans only.
if you dont have this cd you are not doomster.......2004-01-13
this album is gonna be forever.
a psychedelic vision.

It's good, but not great..........2006-09-30
Just got it and I'm not dissapointed, but an earlier reviewer nailed it. First two songs are great, but Wizards of Gore needed to stay on the demo tape and the live song, swear to god, was recorded by someone with what seems like a handheld recorder. You hear him, or someone close to him, yell "YEAAAHH!!" after the band announces the song. C'mon guys, you couldn't get a recording from the soundboard?
Get this for the first two songs........2005-03-18
The first two songs, Supercoven and Burnout, and fine examples of slow psychadelic doom. Very much in the vein of Come My Fanatics. The other song, Wizards of Gore, is bad in terms of sound quality and musicianship. It was recorded as a demo in 1993, and it shows. The other is a badly recorded live version of the title track of their first album. It's alright, but not great. Buy it for the first two tracks.
Like running in a dream..........2001-01-13
This is another SLOW, DOOM type band (i.e. St. Vitus, Sleep, etc.) I bought it hoping it would sound like Sabbath. It does...Sabbath in slow motion. If you're looking for Sabbath type stuff, you can do better. If you like slow, sludge rock that seems to go on forever, this is for you.
Sons of Sabbath.......2000-09-08
Electric Wizard is the only Doom Metal band that I can say I like almost as much as Sabbath. I haven't heard any other band that has come close to getting at what Sabbath was getting at. What I like about these guys is they actually have musical talent beyond thinking they can get away with just some heavy cords - and they know the feeling they are getting at. This album isn't refined - Get "Come My Fanatics" If you don't have it already. That is why I give them a four for this album - "Come My Fanatics" is a fiver. Send me an email if you are a Electric Wizards Fan.
Heavy Power Doom.......2000-04-24
These guy just keep on putting out heavy CD. I wish this had more songs. Even with only four song its still kill. If your into bands that have a all out jamfest. This is your CD.
