"I am gonna kill you just because I want to".......2007-02-10
"Sinister Slaughter" has always, in my opinion, been the best album produced and performed by Macabre. I'm not a huge Macabre fan and rarely listen tot heir other CDs, but "Sinister Slaughter" seems to find it's way to my ears fairly often and I seem to appreciate it the more I listen to it.
"Vampire of Dusseldorf", "Zodiac" and "What's that Smell?" are what I find to be the album's best tracks and are worth the purchase of the album(I can't believe the price ont his thing---$30.00???...I bought this at one of their concerts years back for like $7.00!!) alone.
The best thing about Macabre has to be their blazing fast drummer. If you think all death metal drummers are fast, try listening to this guy. I'm not sure he stills does it, but years ago, during concerts, he would have to get up after each song and walk around his drum set to avoid cramping his legs. Don't believe me?? LIsten to the double-bass and how fast it is!!!
Great album from an OK band! Hey, even if you don't like the music, this album is worth buynig for the cover artwork alone!!!
Sinister Perfection.......2005-11-06
Macabre delivered an album of perfection after their album Gloom (which was filled with mistakes but still awesome). There isn't a bad song on Sinister Slaughter and other then the nice Reprise of Mary Bell, every song has creative, funny lyrics about famous serial killers or mass murders. These guys are incredible at what they do. They are masters of speed, just listen to the acoustic beginning of What the Hell did you do?!, it's absolutely insane! Songs like Vampire of Düsseldorf bring a wicked grin to my face every time I hear them. The cover art is a parody of the Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, in which all the people have been replaced with pictures of the three band members of the band and serial killers. It's absolutely priceless and funny to see the reactions on the faces of people when you show them this. If you want to find a talented, funny death metal band and has something important to say instead of the same old boring topics of Satan and necro this and necro that, then Macabre is definitely a band for you to check out. I always found the real stuff to be much more entertaining then the tiresome topics of bands like Cannibal Corpse, who fail to grab my attention like the way Macabre does. If you like reading and hearing about serial killers, and yet also like heavy metal and have a cruel or dark sense of humor then Macabre is definitely a band for you and you will fall in love with them almost immediately.
Right now this CD is out of print; however you can find it on the Sinister Slaughter/Behind the Wall(s) of Sleep Re-release. I suggest you stay away from that re-release because the infamous artwork has been butchered and there are no lyrics given and the EP name is even misspelled. Hunt both CDs down via the internet if knowing the lyrics and having the original artwork is important to you. Hoped this helped.
2nd best metal cd ever!.......1999-12-09
the 2nd best cd ever only after the band's previous recording, the amazing GLOOM. dennis the menace is by far the best drummer out there, nefarious an excellent bass player, and what can i say about corporate death's singing and guitar playing? i haven't heard anything about my favourite band since this album which is a great disappointment, i just hope that they are still around and coming to new york soon.

the guy below sucks.......2006-04-04
take my word for it, read his other reviews.
this cd, while not being macabre's best effort, is funny as hell and totally rockin'!
it's a shame that a lot of folks can't appreciate music with integrity.
Hard up for Death Metal? Buy this!.......2006-02-21
This music sucks, don't take my word for it; listen to the clips on Amazon. Then if you want some good stuff, check out Cathedral " Ethereal Mirror" or "Carnival Bizarre"
"Your Blood is Spilling, the Sight is Thrilling!".......2005-11-07
Wow, the music here easily deserves five stars. But this re-release is absolutely terrible! If you just want the music and don't care about anything else, then you can go ahead and purchase this Sinister Slaughter/Behind the Wall of Sleep re-release; but those who are die hard Macabre fans and want the lyrics and so forth, they will be disappointed to know that since Nuclear Blast changed the packaging from a Jewel case to a Digipak, there is no lyric insert. The artwork is also butchered. Nuclear blast thought it would have been a good idea to splice the artwork together but it honestly looks hideous. And lets not forget that that Nuclear blast even misspelled the friggin' EP name wrong as Behind the WALLS of Sleep. If you have read any interviews, you'll see that Macabre themselves are very disappointed with Nuclear Blast's cheap attempt at re-releasing these classic albums. I suggest that you hunt down a used copy of the originals with the lyrics, they are helpful in order to figure out what the lyrics are and make the music more enjoyable.
And here is my response to that "music fan". You are an idiot. Plain and simple. Macabre is not worshiping these serial killers and mass murderers, they are writing songs about these murderers. There is a big difference. Never at any point does Macabre state something like "Ted Bundy Rocks and John Wayne Gacy is my Idol!" Think of the families? Are you meaning to tell me that no one can write a song about something that is true? Do you think people shouldn't write songs about war either? That has real people dying too. Are you one of the people who think that violence shouldn't be sung about at all and that we should all be listening to family friendly music and live in Magic Lollypop Mario Mushroom land? Next time think real hard about what you're reviewing before you decide to type out your thoughts.
¡Shoot your husband in the Head!.......2005-04-29
This is the first Macabre record that i heard back in 1998, when i listen the Nightstalker track, i was impressed, this is so brutal death metal, and i find very original the concept of the serial killers, this is a band with a good future, did i mention this is the best work of Macabre?, buy it right now.
Very Original........2003-04-13
Macabre is a very big controverial band. Many people beleive this to be very negative music since every song is about a serial killer or a mass murderer. But seriously this is not good or bad music. Every musical artist or band out there sings there own type of music. Mortician sings about death and killing, Sublime talks about drugs and life, and Macabre sings about serial killers.
Now even though many people may disagree with me, this album is by far the best metal album I have ever heard. Twenty-five tracks of non stop murder metal! The cover art is a rip off of an old "Beatles" album but replaced with killers. Ironic or what!
If you ever come across this album buy it, it is worth every penny if you are into any kind of heavy metal. And what's even better is the band members take time out for there fans to. I have seen them twice in live and after the show they took time out to go and chat with there fans. Now how many bands do you know do that? You don't see any of those ..mainstream artists taking time out to talk.
Well to end this off I give you this advice. This is one in a million kind of thing to experience. Take my word buy it! And even though they are singing about serial killers and mass murderers just remember the songs are true but they are just expressing the kind of music they want to display.
