Album Description
With their exciting and distinctive mixture of Melodic, Prog and Power Metal Pagan's mind present their new album enigmatic: calling. This time out, Pagan's Mind are melodic but at the same time harder and more extreme than ever before. Eleven outstanding songs produced by Fredrik Nordström (Hammerfall, Dimmu Borgir). Includes MPEG videoclip Enigmatic Mission.
Customer Reviews:
an extraordinary effort - 5 stars.......2007-05-21
Welcome to your new top 10 band (if you never heard of PM before). I was absolutely stunned by the beauty and technical complexity of the songs. Now I know why many prog metal bands seem to be devoid of good ideas...somehow PM stole them all! I am planning to pick up their other CDs as well. Required listening for any rock fan.
prog metal but with an awesome twist of melodic keys.......2007-03-13
great band here own now all Pagans Mind cds. just short of KAMELOT tho but still 5 stars.
Pagan's Mind ; "Enigmatic: Calling".......2007-02-08
I wasn't certain if Pagan's Mind could pull off releasing two masterpieces in a row, but without question they have. As hard as it may seem to beleive, "Enigmatic: Calling", is even better than their previous effort "Celestial Entrance" in my opinion. This is a pure masterpiece, and I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Metal...
I can't really compare this band to anyone in the United States, they're certainly better than anything we've been use to hearing since Metallica / Queensryche died in the late 80's. If this band makes it here in the US, there's really no telling how big of a live act they could become. No Metal band out there can touch them right now in my opinion. Buy it with confidence...
"Creating empires to reign".......2006-11-24
Pagan's Mind started out with the solid "Infinity Divine", blew up in a Progressive sense with their second album "Celestial Entrance", then they scaled back on their Progressive leanings a bit and constructed a set of excellent songs for "Enigmatic:Calling". This is the album that I continue to return to, with equal parts Progressive Metal and straight ahead Prog-Rock sensibility, I consider this to be their finest all-around album to date. I can hear the best of Queensryche mixed with 1970s Prog-Rock, most notably Kansas in their prime and even a little Yes thrown in for added flavor. There are many dazzling moments between the front-men of the band, the lead guitar player is a bona-fide virtuoso and the lead singer in consistently impressive, but the entire group is noteworthy and have thoughtfully crafted this concept album with care and intelligence. The production is outstanding, as it is on "Celestial Entrance", as Fredrik Nordstrom lends a hand once more this time Mixing the tracks perfectly. John Viggo Lofstad, their exceptional lead guitarist, does the honors with the crystal clear production sound. Great music, talented musicians, intelligent songcraft and conception...I really could not have ask for anything more. Highly recommended.
Punishing, Fantastic, Awesome, Addictive, A GREAT!! Album.......2006-10-19
Enigmatic: Calling simply never lets up. The range on the music, the ideas, the unbelievable technical abilities of the musicians, the writing. It just never stops. WOW. The vocals take some getting used to, but these guys are every bit as brilliant as Symphony X and Kamelot (and those 2 bands are absolutely brilliant). I love complex, hard edged, well written and played concept music, and these guys are all virtuosos.
From the unusual drumming (no generic metal double bass gymnastics, but amazing changeups), to the blistering guitar, pounding bass and of course the massive MASSIVE keyboards, these guys have everything the progressive rock lover could ever want.
Of the nearly 20,000 songs in my music library, these days Enigmatic: Calling and Pagan's Mind are nearly always in the queue.
