Yup, another tribute album and, yup, it's from Seattle. This one is out to prove a point, however--that the rainy city is not a one-sound town, as anyone who's enjoyed the Spinanes, the Fastbacks, the Posies, the Walkabouts, the Young Fresh Fellows, the Picketts, or the Presidents of the U.S.A. already knows. All of the above, save the Posies, make an appearance here, along with the likes of standbys Girl Trouble, Tad, Mudhoney, Flop, Love Battery, and Gas Huffer; younger acts like Built to Spill and Citizen's Utilities; and "supergroups" Mad Season (Mike McReady, Layne Staley, John Baker Saunders, Barrett Martin) and the Minus 5 (Scott McCaughey/YFF, Jon Auer/Posies, Pete Buck/REM, Kurt Bloch/Fastbacks, YFF). It's not a great record, but it is an entertaining listen. --Randy Silver

Lot of good sounds on this one. Presidents, Fastbacks, Mad Season, Mudhoney, just to name a few. When in Seattle, the Croc is a good place to see live music

A good follow-up.......2000-08-25

Everyone into punk or skinhead rock knows about Slaughter & the Dogs' first LP. Yet this second effort (released two years later with a different line-up) is unfairly ingored. Going for a more traditional rock sound as well as punk "Bite Back" delivers great songs such as "now I know", "what's wrong boy", "crashing out with Lucy" (amazing Guns N Pousers never covered that one), "she ain't gonna show", but the best moments are "hell in New York" and the ballad "east side of town" (the ONLY skinhead tune to sound like Billy Joel!).

Impressive debut CD.......2000-10-19

I frequently search the Internet in search of new talent and was pleasantly surprised by this debut effort by Lotus Bite. Reading that Mike Day accomplished the writing, singing, production, and even the artwork on his own was awe inspiring! A great blend of shadowy creativity and a clarity of thought. This CD reminds me of Michael Penn's sophomoric effort, "Free-For-All," along with the intermingling resonance of Nirvana, Elliot Smith, and Sting.
