Long acknowledged as one of the most formidable concert acts on the rock & roll arena circuit, Led Zeppelin finally bit the grenade and in 1976 released this, the only live album of their career. The companion to a same-named full-length feature film combing concert footage and oblique "personal" visual statements by each member, this collection still stands up as a souvenir of Zeppelin's winning stage combination of fire and fury. A sort of live greatest-hits disc, the album features good versions of "Rock and Roll," "Dazed and Confused" (complete with violin-bowed guitar, of course), "Whole Lotta Love," and the inevitably climactic "Stairway to Heaven." --Billy Altman
Customer Reviews:
The low end ratings are a shining example... .......2007-07-10
of what is wrong with listeners today: They say: "this is what I want ... exactly the same song played live that was recorded by the musicians on the CD I bought...note for note; lyric for lyric". These people have been brainwashed to accept CD's and concert tours being pre-approved by their corporate sponsorship and the label that says "yes, sir" to a hierarchy who knows nothing about music just the imperitive to make money - which it can't because the music is so "banal" with no redeeming quality. Why? Because of the narrow and unredeeming people who claim that a band who dares to improve upon the original songs with touches of brilliant improv. is "banal" . It is these very people who are now responsible for the music industry losing *billions* of dollars (read the new Rolling Stone article). You did this - you killed the creativity, the sense of fun and pure muscianship. Give the low stars and go back to your bands that all ripped off Pearl Jam, U2, REM, LZ, Floyd, The Stones, and every other band worth anything. It's what *they* would want.
The point is simple: From the beginning, even in 1968, LZ showed up record companies, the media, and sometimes listeners. They are still showing record companies today why they are losing billions of dollars. They always took risks and I love that it doesn't seem to play well to new listeners - because it shows how dull and listless their ears are, by accepting todays crap and not accepting anything "out of bounds". This the reason why there will be no major labels in about 5 years.
I would argue that wrapped up in some of Page's solo's alone on this CD are more moments of unadulterated creativity than bands like Nickelback have ever had (by all of their bandmembers) on all of their CD's combined.
If you are reading this you are deeper into LZ than just what you hear on the radio- Thank God, for you! Have an open mind and listen to what 4 masters of their instruments can do with a basic song structure. It is sheer brilliance from start to end.
Why doesn't this happen??.......2007-06-26
They really need to release the entire show now that they have all the additional tracks from the new DVD and songs such as celebration day on the audio soundtrack. Put out a special edition, remastered complete show-please!! This show is incredibly underrated and I don't care how many people used to say that this was sub par performances it is absolutely not true!! This has just been self perpetuating opinions over the years from hot winded nobodies that really don't know what the hell they're talking about yet, back in the day when it was actually released it was one of the most popular live albums on the market and constantly listened to by music heads and fans throughout my Junior high and high school days in southern Cal. I have listened and own all the great bootlegs and proclaimed greatest Zep shows but I have to say that "Dazed and Confused", "No Quarter", "The song remains the same", "The Rain Song", "Celebration Day", "Stairway to Heaven", and the recent release of "The Ocean" are still some of the best, if not The best live versions of these songs ever -period!! I've been a die hard Zep fan for nearly thirty years and have heard all the live stuff and if this entire show was re-released and remastered it would shed new found light on these great performances. Not to mention would be a huge success for Jimmy, Percy and Jonesy. Please do this!!
Think about this NO Brainer- 30th Anniversary complete 73 show edition-complete and remastered!! They do have the added tracks in the new DVD and the audio tracks from the soundtrack of "Celebration day" for example. Why does this not happen??
Pleeeaaase Jimmy!
Ragged, but right!.......2007-06-18
I've heard many recordings of the 1973 tour and this album is a good representation of how they sounded on stage at the time. How The West Was Won captures a cleaner Zeppelin and a superior performance, but there's a swagger to these NYC shows that is undeniable. The Houses Of The Holy material is more exploratory and satisfying here than the studio versions as well.
Like many other reviewers, I'd like to see an updated version with SIBLY, Misty Mountain Hop and the rest. Three and half stars.
Good but not great.......2007-02-05
Way back in the early 90s I got this on vinyl and loved it, yet my fondness has gone down over the years. Though most of the performances are awesomee, Percy's voice is clearly shot and hoarse in most of the songs, and in those that it's not it must have been over-dubbed in the studio. Not that Led Zeppelin is the only group to have ever done that, of course. Fortunately the rhythm section shines and even Pagey does.
The song listing is good but lacks a few songs, that would have fitted were it not for the overlong Dazed And Confused. Rock and Roll is featured in all its strength, Celebration Day is awesome (too bad it was left off the film) and so are The Song Remains The Same/Rain Dong. As stated above, Dazed And Confused is way too long (nearly 27 minutes) and half of its running time would have been enough. No Quarter is probably my favorite song on the whole cd, slowing the pace some. It features a fine Pagey solo. Then it's off to Stairway To Heaven, impeccably played. After this somewhat calmer part we are treated to a superb drum solo by Bonzo in Moby Dick. Contrary to most people's opinion, I prefer the album version over the one that eventually was included on the film, which is different and has been clearly edited. They close the album with another long version, this time of Whole Lotta Love, featuring the weird middle section and bits of Let That Boy Boogie and some lyrics from The Crunge.
To sum up, not their best live document - BBC Sessions or even the somewhat flawed How The West Was Won are better, but if you are a fan and not a very demanding one you'll like it. The movie is another story, that will have its own review.
4/5.
Great Band, Flawed Record.......2007-01-16
Sure, it's them in the raw, it's not edited on Pro-Tools. They're not playing very well, however. Bob Plant's lost his upper register and Jimmy Page is starting his long, slow slide to stale. There are some great moments for sure, it's really not worth picking through all this stuff if you're a new Zeppelin fan.
Get the far more inspired performances on the DVD, if you don't have it already. Then try "How the West Was Won", DVD-Audio version if possible. When you get sick of that, this'll be waiting for you.

Customer Reviews:
Nice mini sleeve but no sonic upgrade.......2007-02-20
Just a quick review for those about to purchase this CD. The replica miniature LP sleeve is of nice quality but it lacks the brief liner notes by Cameron Crowe that came with the original 1990 CD released by Swan Song (not 1993 as stated in another review). Sonically, I A/B'd the two editions and could find absolutely NO difference whatsoever--none!! Not sure why they bothered to go to the trouble of producing this rather handsome mini sleeve and then leave us with the same audio quality we've always had. Having said that, if you don't own the original disc then this is the obvious choice. If you do have the Swan Song CD you may want to trade it in at your local music store for a few bucks and pick this one up through the Amazon Marketplace at a reasonable price (I paid just under $16 with shipping included). This is certainly not a great Zeppelin live performance but I think it's better than its bad reputation and definitely worth owning, particularly if you've seen the film.
deceptive.......2007-02-07
Yes this was remastered but not since 1994, even though this edition (which is made to replicate in minature the original gatefold lp) came out in 2003. While the minature replication is a nice touch it may not warrant the premium price, the 94' release is all you need, sound wise.

Album Description
2002 album for Swedish techno metal act, the side project of Peter Tagtgren, the singer, guitarist & main songwriter in the globally acknowledged death-metal act Hypocrisy. 12 tracks.
Customer Reviews:
PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-09-08
Hello I am a big Hypocrisy fan and I have followed Hypocrisy all the way from Penetralia to Virus Peter and Mikael will always dominate in Hypocrisy but the reason I mentioned that it such a perfect production and the albums keep gettting better.
Pain for on the other hand is the best thing to happen. I love Death metal but I do have a colletion of Madonna, Tracy Chapman, Johnny Cash, Destinys Child and other not so death metal but melodic music. So you all that havent tried pain out I promise you wont be disappointed. I dont know why it is so hard to find Pain albums but it is worth the work to find it and them.
Hail to Peter Tagtgren and Hypocrisy.
pain just got serious!.......2006-08-07
Were do I begin?? This is an incredibly addictive album that you wont put down for months, then when you do you will find it again three months later and listen to it compulsively again! An industruial metallists dream. Put yourself in a Cyber club on a Saturday night and that is what this album produces!
Pivetol song - "shut your Mouth" starts like a polyphonic ringtone but go with it 'cos you'll love it!
Pain- Nothing Remains The Same.......2003-03-10
Pain's third album to date, "Nothing Remains The Same" is a techno trip that is similar to groups such as Rammstien and Prodigy. Peter Tagtgren is the genius of Pain, responsible for almost everything in the music end of the release. He is the Sweedish-Trent Reznor, but in my opinion he has more guts than the Nine Inch Nails frontman. The sound of Pains third release is the best of yet and the sytle keeps developing and improving. It's a shame America has not caught on to Pain yet.
Awesome CD!!.......2003-01-19
I bought the CD after I heard the single "Shut Your Mouth". I was blown away!!! From the first track to the last, I enjoyed every single one. This coming from a fan of rock/metal/classic rock. I would say this Album is a combination of all three! If you're like me, don't hesitate to get one and thank me later. =D
Awesome CD from an awesome band.......2003-01-02
I really didn't expect this CD to be as good as it is. I picked it up after listening to Shut Your Mouth, the single, and was anticipating a 'one good track' CD. But front to back, this kicks... It's a little hard to find since it's a swedish band that isn't mainstream, but if you can find it, do yourself a favour and buy it! Anything else would just be uberjewish.

Dont Waste Your Money.......2004-12-21
This is not a good remaster. The original sounds just as good if not better. This version is duller. I am a remaster junky. Unless you want a collectors item....dont waste your time if your looking for a better sounding cd.
A Note To Consider.......2003-09-04
First of all the 5 stars is for Zep
& the great music but collectors of
mini lp replicas take note:
All the Zep albums(Bar BBC) have been
released on mini lp paper sleeve versions
BOTH from Japan AND Europe.
The europe & Jap versions are sonically identical,
all are taken from the Jimmy Page George Marino
remasters,a fact also printed on the stickers(Europe
releases)& insert sheet (Japan releases).
The packaging is also identical, the europe releases
actually use the Jap outer cardboard sleeves(the catalog
numbers on the europe spines are identical to their
Japanese counterparts but the numbers are different
on the actual discs (europe) themselves.
The Japan versions DO have an extra foldout lyric
insert in Japanese, the discs are housed in see through thin plastic sleeves
(the europe versions are enclosed in glossy
card inner sleeves,much nicer).
Most importantly the EAU versions are MUCH cheaper,
if you must have the paper insert
and the obi strip,be prepared to pay heavily.
All in its great to have these available but in a nutshell
the European versions are almost identical
bar the paper insert at a much lower price(amazon.co.uk)

good bad and ugly.......2004-05-21
This album stays about as consistant as a junkie trying to give up drugs. Some songs are hardcore and then the next is pop-punk piece of crap time. hats off to all of the afi songs, from wen they used to be good. big thumbs down to jugheads revenge ,guttermouth, one hit wonder, and most of the vandals songs. No one can badmouth t.s.ol but hey that is only one diamond surrounded by trash. Also notworthy is sloppy seconds, but anyone that thinks this is great punk-rock obviously has been listening to nofx and anti-flag a little too much.
It's called "The Thought Remains the Same"!!!!!.......2003-06-13
This is a classic mix of the best music off of Nitro Records. It includes classics from such bands as The Vandals, AFI, Guttermouth, TSOL, and The Offspring. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is cause I don't like one of the songs from Sloppy Seconds and "DUI" from Offspring is too much like their later awful records. All in all, this record is great and there could not be a better collection of songs! Except Punk-O-Rama Vol. 2!
Great Music from great bands!!.......2001-09-13
This album is once again a great one from Dexter and the crew at Nitro Records. A.F.I get the space htey deserve as do Guttermouth and The Vandals...they are all great songs, and their is even a limited edition Offspring song from a special cd they released to members of their fan club!! Great songs.....(especially 'Cafe 405' and 'If only the gvmnt could read my mind')
Those not ready to slam, please step back!.......2000-04-07
Well, Nitro records has come out with a super-charged punk album here. I really hate T.S.O.L. and was tempted to give this album a lower rating. Fortunately I slapped it into my CD player once again and found that the rest of the songs (excluding the two by T.S.O.L.) are so frickin good that this deserves no less than a 5 out of 5. Not only is there the haul-** punk rawk of guttermouth, afi, jugheads revenge, the vandals, and O.H.W., there is also some great Offspring. Yes the pre-sellout music for the masses Offspring. This album is a real must have for any fans of real "call your neighbors and start a pit of your own" punk. So have a good time and happy moshing.
awesome!.......2000-03-25
this is an awesome cd...it includes some great bands such as the offspring and guttermouth...all the tracks are great! here's a cd for all punk rock fans! it's got a couple of songs by a bunch of different bands. order this one now!

Much better than expected.......2004-08-14
You might be forgiven for thinking "Oh no, not ANOTHER Led Zeppelin tribute!" Certainly, that's what I thought when I chanced upon this CD at Borders. But I took a gamble - and it sure paid off. The bands featured here are all non-native US or British and hail from Spain, Brazil, etc. Some are not well-known at all but don't let that put you off - all provide absolutely first-rate renditions of Zepp classics. The level of musicianmanship is superb and some of the interpretations (eg Whole Lotta Love) while different from the originals, are nonetheless highly enjoyable. If you're a Zepp fan (I am, since the early 1970s) then buy it if you can find it.
