Product Description
CONVERGE are one of the most important bands to emerge from the hardcore noise metal scene in the last 20 years. With their role as metallic hardcore innovators, trendsetters and flag-bearers firmly cemented with over a decades worth of aural destruction, it would have been easy for CONVERGE to succumb to the hyperbole like many before them and become unapproachable elitists, but they havent. In an effort to express himself more fully, CONVERGE vocalist and mastermind JACOB BANNON formed a side project, SUPERMACHINER. This outfit features CONVERGE bandmate Kurt Ballou and members of DALTONIC. The Rise Of The Great Machineis rumored to be the first of a trilogy and is a bizarre exploration of non-metal and hardcore influences. Murder ballads coincide with ambient compositions, brooding and introspective moments of clarity ring with melancholy shades of hope, electronic creations war with somnambulant lullabies and the dynamic between oft and softer is a constant theme.

Don't expect Converge here, folks. It's more like Red Sparowes had a post-rock baby with Mogwai, via an electronic womb.

supergenius.......2005-06-30
i got this cd for 5 bux at a converge show a long time ago because the art on the front looked interesting in a technical way. and years and years later this cd is still one of the most unique approaches to music i have ever heard. it isn't just "noise" or "experimental" it's a whole new approach. because i listen to straight noise and experimental stuff and this is much more formulated, much more substantial and expressly thought out song composition, though it fluidly incorporates experimental avant garde type elements. pretty much it's one of my all time favorite albums because it is so complex and bizarre and expressive that nothing else i have ever heard comes anywhere near to its style. and i listen to a LOT of abnormal music. it really hits on some strange, significant and rarely recognized universal vibrations. after i got it i listened to it literally every night when i went to sleep for like 8 or 9 months. it's incredible.
You misunderstood.......2004-02-20
Don't listen to this thinking Converge. This is different but just as good. This IS NOT a Converge side project. It features J and Kurt but thats about it. Noise. Lots of emotion. Flat out good. I won't compare this to Converge, because besides the vocals, its not. This is HOWEVER a CD worth the money and time to listen to it. But only for the open minded.
apples to oranges.......2003-05-24
It always amazes me that people try to compare a bands SIDE PROJECT to the band the members stem from, i.e, the KNOWN band. Of course the SIDE PROJECT sounds different, thats why it is a SIDE PROJECT. What would be the point of starting a SIDE PROJECT that sounds exactly like the other band?
Sorry for the tangent, Jay
Oh, by the way. If you do like this and experimental stuff, try Maudlin of the Well. They are everything from My Dying Bride to Supermachiner!

this is no converge record, come on! if you think you're gonna buy this and get "jane doe" pt. 2, you're sorely mistaken, my friend. this sounds NOTHING like converge - and yes, it's experimental, but is it good? the answer is - YES! (bearing in mind, of course, that it's AMBIENT/EXPERIMENTAL music, not converge!) lots of samples, ambiental sounds, etc. but drums, guitars and vocals too. the works, people, the works! i suggest for start you download "bitter cold" - if you're not blown away, there's little hope for you, my friend...
