Raw, unpolished, furious, youthful - and I love it!.......2003-05-23
This is raw metal with a lot of punk rock attitude. The opening furious "Shellshock" sets the tone for the whole album, and it comes as no surprise that it was the guys from Motörhead who "found" this band and helped them out (Fast Eddie Clarke produced the album). Tank's "Filth hounds of hades" should please any fan of the classic Motörhead era, and even if it's raw and unpolished there's actually a decent amount of melody hidden under the rage of punk-metal. Tank swept the floor with any punk rock band back in the days of the release and even more than 20 years later, neo punk rockers like Offspring doesn't even come close to the energy displayed on "Filth hounds of hades". This is an album I return to time after time and even if it has a clear touch of "low budget" and a youthful approach, I find it to be a real gem! Highly recommended to those who want a blend of punk rock and heavy metal without any attempts to be pretentious. "What's inside of me? Blood, guts and beer"!
100% Energy.......2002-10-04
Lemmy and Eddie Clarke (Motorhead) took the trio Tank under their wings, and it comes as no surprise since Tank's rock can be described as somewhere in the middle of heavy metal and punk. This album is 100% energy and represent the english heavy metal by the early 80's very well. The songs are great and Tank are able to combine the raw with the melodic. You get the feeling that the guys have a really good time playing these excellent songs. And when Algy Ward (ex Damned) sings "What's inside of me? - blood, guts and beer", it is very representative for the whole approach. The follow up "Power of the hunter" is also a good record, 'tho it's more polished. After that Tank got lost, but I believe they're still out there...
Tank - Lost Metal Gem.......2002-09-09
I always liked this album by Tank and was exicted to see it available on CD. The CD is pretty solid with tracks like "Stormtrooper" and "Shellshock" combining good energy along with classic metal vocals. There are some nice liner notes about the band included.
Great Heavy Metal!.......2002-05-17
I bought this in a used CD store, because it was issued on Repertoire label. Never heard of this band before. This is fantastic stuff for the fans of Heavy Metal. Much better than Motorhead, or later day Iron Maiden. Very fast, but melodic.
Recommended 100%. Rock4roll.
This C.D. Rocks!.......2000-08-24
A friend of mine introduced me to this "record", "back in the day" (around '84-'85) and I've been searching for it since! It's the kind of CD you can't listen to just one song on, you know, one track leads to the next, and so on. This is some good, rockin' stuff! If you like Motorhead, (old)Metallica, English Dogs, Angelic Upstarts...stuff kind of like that, not too fast, just rockin'...you'll love this. Anyone who grew up listening to "Punk" or "REAL" Heavy metal should definitely own this. e-mail:g13raider@aol.com(keep e-mail anon)
