With three years passed and a new producer at the helm, the Dave Matthews Band find themselves stretching beyond the borders of Before These Crowded Streets to more emotionally explorative territory. On Everyday, Matthews's clenched-jaw delivery has an unrelenting constancy that's cunning and determined. "I Did It" opens the CD in an aggressive groove, while "When the World Ends" follows with clipped licks that dive into a muddier, open-flowing chorus. From there on out, the floodgates open into something that often recalls Peter Gabriel, which is ironic, given that the band replaced producer Steve Lillywhite, whose work with Gabriel is legendary, with Glen Ballard, whose work with Alanis Morissette is of equal note, if not acclaim. The album is Gabrielesque in scope, from Matthews's deepening rasp to the epic instrumentation. Yet, what's lacking is Lillywhite's ability to capture a sense of naked honesty. Instead, Ballard dosses down the tracks in designer-suit production, unable to save a band that might simply not be up to the task on such an ambitious sonic endeavor. That, combined with Matthews's tendency to eschew conventional hooks, leaves the album stalled between the group's jam-band compulsion and radio-friendly packaging. To capture the latent majesty of this album, you're going to have to hear it live, and with this band, that's always been precisely the point. --Beth Massa

Shockingly Disappointing False version of DMB.......2006-12-23

I loved every DMB album up until this one. After 10 years of making the most profoundly wonderful music, the law of averages has finally kicked in for Dave and crew. I have been a fan since 1997 and loved everything about this band. Every album and every song was superb!

This album is a HUGH departure from the tradition Dave Matthews Band that all true DMB fans know and love. This album has also made a division between old hardcore DMB fans (fans of the REAL band that includes all 5 members) and new DMB fans (the "I heard it on the radio and liked it" fans)

This album does not include all 5 members as Leroi and Boyd are almost non-existent leaving just the guitar, bass, and drums ie. the meat and potatoes of a band. Every band has a guitar, bass and drums making them sound just about like every other band out there. Now how many bands do you know that have a fiddle and a sax/wind instruments in them? DMB used to be one of them. You won't find the adrenaline pumping fiddle solos or the heartfelt wind work on this album.

Next we have Dave playing electric guitar and co-writing the majority of the songs over a weekend and boy does it show. He co-wrote these songs with the new producer Glenn Ballard who plays piano on this one as well. The only song that is a work of art lyrically is The Space Between. I also like Everyday as well only because its an evolved form of a true DMB song, #36 (Hani Hani). This one is a real treat to see live as the band will sometime play both #36 and Everyday together.

Yes I will say again...Dave plays an electric on this one. Big mistake going from what your traditionally known as being acoustic then going directly to electric...just ask Dylan about this one. I felt like I Did It was an assault on my ears and took my breath away and not in a good way. My jaw dropped to the floor in disbelief and I just could not believe what I was hearing. This was not Dave Matthews Band! The only song that the electric worked with was The Space Between due to it being a dark and sad ending to a relationship. GREAT poetry and lyrics to that one and that song saves the a star from being a 1/5.

There are a lot of reviews on here that are saying that it took a few listens before they really liked it. I believe that these are fans that are just in denial and I can't blame them. Did it take a few listens before you fell in love with this band? When I first heard Crash Into Me and Too Much I was just floored and could not believe the sounds I was hearing. Not with this so called DMB. A band with a sax and a fiddle that makes it work!!?? WOW!

Take the 4 things out that make DMB, DMB and you get a mediocre any band. The 4 things that make the formula of Dave Matthews Band work are the uplifting and awe inspiring explosive fiddle solos from Boyd (Ants Marching), the emotional wind works of Leroi (Say Goodbye), Dave's lyrics (#41 and I'm not a big fan of Dave's vocals but thats on every album...I wish they would put out an all instrumental album), and the tricky timings, rhythms, and beats of Carter (#36 Live at Red Rocks), all of which pretty much do not exist on this album.

This is not DMB and if you do buy it at least you won't buy it under the false pretense that your buying a DMB album. Go get any other album besides this and Stand Up (which is even more disappointing then Everyday)

Hardcore DMB fans...you have been warned.

The biggest problem with Everyday is that the best few songs and singles (except for the title track) are burned through at the start of this LP. That's not to say the rest of the tracks are crap (most are good) but there's nothing to keep the listener hanging around for the second half of the album. I bought this album because of `the space between' and was initially disappointed with it. Much later while messing around on Itunes, I rearranged the playlist and realised this is actually quite a strong album of songs IF they are in the right order. If you can, put the tracks in this order and give the it a go, I found it much much more concise and better listen.

You'll notice I've left off sleep to dream her & mother father, Mainly because they are duds. Even so it works out to be a stronger collection around 44 minutes length wise, which is about all the Matthews and Co. I can handle.

Listen Everyday.......2006-11-15

This CD spurred publicity for the band due to the band acknowledging how they were taking their sound in a slightly different direction. Glenn Ballard(most famed for producing Alanis Morissette)was brought aboard as producer and helps the Dave Matthews Band evolve in both sound and style. The only overt difference here compared to past albums is the reduction in the extended arrangements and jams the band was so noted for in the studio. Ballard helps the band transform their music into more of a radio-friendly material with a polished pop sound-and it works magnificently. Everyday shows how the band can still play tight in the studio and their continued musical sharpness comes alive in all the tracks, while their songs remain spirited with words of wisdom and intellect. And they continue to sing about love and spirituality in the rare form that the Beatles did so perfectly all those years ago.

World's greatest band?.......2006-10-22

Awhile ago,TIME magazine hailed the Dave Matthews Band (not U2)as "The World's greatest band." It was an issue about world music--and it occurred when Shakira was famous the first time around (and not making a comeback with Wyclef Jean).Hmmm...it also coincided with the release of "Everyday."

I knew DMB fans in college;I heard they were a "jam band" like the Grateful Dead (I had a roommate who was a former Deadhead),that they blended world music with jazz&rock.Returning to Oregon for a time,I went to a bookstore owned by hippies who reccomended this to me.I listened to a couple of tracks.Alas,most were losses.

How does "Everyday" add up?
1)When the world ends-A very anthemic song.It's about finding love in apocalyptic times.There's an urgency to it.Quite powerful.
2)The Space Between-This is my favorite song on the whole album.It's about love&longing,especially after a separation.The music video for this didn't make much sense,but the lyrics are wonderful.("In the space between,you will find me,waiting for you")
3)Everyday-Really,not that bad a song.It's got a gospel sound to it with the "Lift me up,Lord!" For a song that got a lot of radio play,it's actually quite good.

Then there's "Angel","I did it","Mother Father" that are pretty forgettable."Angel",instead of being erotic,is crass.

"Everyday",sadly,is not worth it.It's not worth spending the money on,let alone listening to it every day.I reccomend Lo'Jo,a French Grateful Dead that blends North African music,gypsy tunes,reggae&French chanson.I'd call them the world's greatest band.

Great Album.......2006-07-28

This is the first DMB album I ever listened to. I was skeptical of them at first because of my father's fondness of them, but I soon changed my mind.

Highlights:
"I Did It"- Best song on the album. Has a tremendous groove, and shows the band at their best.

"When the World Ends"- A great tune that I wish garnered more radioplay. Has a great anthemic and catchy chorus.

"The Space Between"- Most famous DMB song on this album. Garnered heavy radioplay, albeit a little too much radioplay, but well deserved.

"Dreams of our Fathers"- Another great tune with a great lyrical message. Should be recognized more often.

"So Right"- Another song with a tremendous groove. Very, well, "groovy".

"If I Had It All"- Awesome mellow tune, the band really plays at their best here.

"Everyday"- Another famous song. My second favorite on the album. Very catchy, and with some great acoustic work.

Low points:
"Sleep to Dream Her"- Sorry, but a bit boring.

"Angel"- Just can't get into this mellow tune.

"Mother Father"- It's not THAT bad, but still a low point.

There's nothing wrong with being a jam band, so long as when the verses and choruses fade away and leave a little space, you can actually deliver the goods. Instrumental dexterity is important, sure, but so are hooks, melodies, and the other elements of pop songwriting. Widespread Panic know this and make use of the knowledge--which is not to say they're out to write radio-ready hit songs. They're usually at their best when they leave themselves some room to wander within a given song, and only one of the numbers on Everyday clocks in at under four minutes. Even when they're determined to go off on extended excursions, though, as on "Hatfield," "Diner," and "Pilgrims," the group makes sure there's something of substance to hold on to. "Pickin' Up the Pieces," for example, is one of the group's loveliest, most laid-back (and, at four and a half minutes, most concise) songs. --Daniel Durchholz

WP most diverse and hardest rocking album to date. Every song a classic. I'm fairly new to WP, started with the newest albums first, but as I make my way backwards, I have realised that this is their very best. I have the first two albums, but nothing compares to this one, before or after.

Widespread Rules!!.......2007-06-27

I recently crushed my foot(broken in several places) and have been recooperating with the help of W.P. Although I have been heavily medicated most of the time this is still some of the greatest music I have ever heard. I've been a Widespread fan for a while, but until recently I have only owned 3 of their CD's. In the last month I've purchased every CD they have. They just get better and better. I can't wait til I break something else!

New direction---muddled sound.......2006-09-28

FIRST WITH JOHN HERRMAN (NOT A GOOD THING)

Released in 1993, this is Widespread Panic's third album. It is 60 minutes long. The sound quality is OK, but the is mix muddled and muted at times. At times, the songs become indistinquishable, a lot like their live shows used to be.

Widespread Panic's first two albums were great, easily five star material. They were a collection of hard driving, distinctive Southern Rock songs, with great musical interludes. The sound was bright and clear.

After the first two albums, Widespread Panic went from a quartet to a sextet, adding a percussionist and a full time keyboardist. Previously, they did have percussion and keyboard support, but only when it was needed. Now, Widespread Panic operates under the theory that everyone should be playing at all times.

There are some very good songs on this CD, especially when listened to individually. But, when listening to this at one time, everything begins to sound the same. After awhile, it just becomes boring and tedious.

The CD starts out very good, and there is a good break about one third of the way in with Pickin' Up The Pieces. This song is a complete change of pace and is very refreshing interlude. It is also a great song.

But, the CD then continues along the same muffle lines. There is some great guitar playing, but many times it also gets lost in the mix.

The sound is very much like their concerts used to be. They are great to live, when you are engulfed by the sound and see who is playing what. But, they don't translate well to CD.

This is the first album with keyboardist John Herrman. I think he can really bring down the band at times. Much of the time, he plays the piano in a harsh manner, where he just beats the keys. It is like over the top honky tonk. It really sounds out of place at times, can be harsh and spoil a good song or instrumentals. But, there are other times when his playing does add some significant to a song, especially, when he plays rhythm instead of trying to take the lead.

Their fourth album, Ain't Life Grand, is more successful because the group reverts back to the old sound for the first two CD's. But after that, there would be a whole series of CD featuring this muddled sound with clinking keyboards.

When the lead guitarist died and was replaced, the group's sound changed dramatically to be more like a traditional Southern Rock band.

Panic's best.......2005-02-10

Throughout the nineties, Widespread Panic was one of the leading Southern groove bands. With the success of this album, the band went from playing small clubs to packing arenas and big outdoor venues. This is easily Widespread's overall best album. "Diner" and "Postcard" rank as two of the best Panic songs in their entire catalogue. To this day, this album has not lost any of its appeal, even if most Widespread stoner fans these days stink of b.o. and dance like epileptics on crack... Don't let those people deter you from this album.

One of the best.......2004-07-15

One of the best CD's I have ever listened to. I'll never forget the first time I listened to it and it still sounds as fresh today. This is a story tellers CD. Open it up and hear the story of "Hatfield" or the girl in the "Diner". Learn to be humble with "Pleas". Hit the road to "Wonderin" while you travel from city to city like "Pilgrims" sending out "Postcard" to all your friends. Great CD. Great memories from the 90's.

Another CM Hot one!!!.......2007-05-13

When I first listen to this CD I was like its alright. Then after I listen to the style and lyrics more it grew on me and know it is streight bangin in my ride. Christ Jesus is truly on this album. My fav's so far are:

Another Hottt One From CMR!.......2007-05-01

What we have here is a nice hip hop set from the latest addition to the CMR unit...Everyday Process. What really makes this one a keeper is that:(1)Jesus is represented in each joint...you're never lost in the wind as to whom they're referrin' to as the Way, Truth, and Life when they spit and (2)They're not mimickin' their CMR labelmates/peers the way Wu-Tang proteges were back in the day. I have to admit though, at first listen, I was agreein' with some of the other posts that were givin' em 3 stars. While the Intro was becomin' of a new addition to the CMR camp, to me, the lyrics/delivery could've used a little more polishin' and the album didn't really pick up for me until tracks 5-19.Everything from that point on is crisp, clean, Christ-centered, and apt to blowin' the speakers out if you're not careful. My personal fav's are #5-7,9-10,and 13-17. I was feelin' the cypha...but I prefer the cyphas from the older CM releases to this one. Everything CMR has stood for is in the formula behind EP's debut. Look forward to hearin' alot more from these brothers in the future.

Cop this album.......2007-04-13

I love this album and have not been able to take it out of the cd player yet. I think the beats are on point. The sound is gritty underground east coast sound. My favorite tracks are Resist the System, Grace, and Shine Bright. If you love true hip hop you will love this album and as with every CMR album the Lord is upfront and center no compromise on the message or the quality of sound. God Bless Everyday Process and the rest of the CM family to keep doing their thing.

Maybe Its Just Not My Style.......2007-03-26

This album gets at least 3 stars off the bat because like every CMR artist or group they bring Christ front and center. However I really thought the flow was sloppy and the beats were offsetting, they didnt really go together. I thought half the songs were under par and the other half was ok. The only song that I really liked was the last one with Flame, Ambassador, Lecrae, Phanatik, and R-Swift. That song was more along the line of my style and taste. Again leading me to believe that Everyday Process is just not my style. But hey Im not shelvin it, I will give it another listen, like I said half was ok and Im sure it will grow on me. If it doesnt though, this might be the first CMR album I sell back.

Yo Son this album is Crakkk!.......2007-03-24

Yo this album right here is hotter than hot fam. I mean it's so gritty I know the burbs and the Hood dudes goan feel this. As they expound on Biblical Truth in such a way. Where the Un-Regenerate (meaning: Not Saved) listener who loves Hip Hop and has never stepped one foot in the church. Can sit and listen to this album and they would have to make a decision to except Jesus Christ as there LORD and Savior. There's no way in the world you can listen to this album and not make a clear cut decision on inviting the LORD Jesus Christ into your Heart by the end of this album. There Just No way, That's How Gritty and Real it truly is. So get the Album and Remember "Holiness First till we under the earth" That's Bangin.

Disappointment from a Previously Great Band.......2007-07-20

I have to admit, I was really looking forward to Wheat's return after their last album Per Second Per Second Per Second... Every Second. That CD was fresh, interesting, and implied either a next step into Indie greatness or maybe a fizzle into nothingness. Instead, they've gone for something ambitiously different and badly missed. None of the songs are compelling; many are unlistenable. The music is atonal and nihilistic, the melodies are either bland or bad. This will be last Wheat CD.

You really can't fake this stuff. If they did they did a really good job. Dimishing returns? Shut up. This is one of the most interesting albums I have heard so far this year. I read the poor reviews and I was like "what?"--A million hell YEAHS to this.

An Exhausted Fixer.......2007-05-22

if you go into this record expecting the same record as "per second...every second," you'd be wrong. you have to go back to wheat's first two indie records, and then listen to the "per second" demos to understand what the band originally started out as.

this is a sonic experiment, similar to wilco's "yankee hotel foxtrot." it has its accessible songs, and it has its beautiful dissonance. "a prayer for kathy" is a slow builder, and it works towards something big.

i think it is a moving statment. so just listen.

Diminishing returns.......2007-05-22

It seems to me that Wheat should have called it quits after parting with Sugar Free Records. Their two releases on that label, Medeiros and Hope And Adams, were beautiful, under-the-radar gems. Wheat then moved over to Aware Records and changed their sound up in an attempt to reach mainstream fans with the over-produced Per Second, Per Second. There were good songs on that CD, but they were buried under bells, whistles, and studio trickery. I honestly thought we'd heard the last of them with that release. I wish we had.

Well, Wheat is back. Their new release, Everyday I Said A Prayer, isn't entirely a bad CD. The sound is more like that on their Sugar Free Records releases. Unfortunately, Scott Levesque appears to have lost whatever singing ability he may have once had. The singing on Everyday I Said A Prayer is just flat-out bad. It sounds like he recorded vocal demo tracks to teach everyone the songs, but never went back to re-record them as work on the CD progressed. The vocals we're left with are off-key, cringe-worthy, and embarrassing.

I hope Wheat disbands before they drop a truly horrible release on their fans. Everyday I Said A Prayer comes close to being that release. If you are interested in this CD, I would highly recommend that you listen to some of the tracks prior to making your purchase.

The masterpiece of Nothingface.......2007-04-13

This is probably their least accessible album because it is very heavy and it may not be the easiest one to start with, but it is universally agreed to be their masterpiece. While it is only nine songs long, every one comes together to form one cohesive metal monster. Nothingface destroys the boundaries of what heavy music can be, and creates their own distinct sound that is instantly recognizable. Matt Holt is one of the best vocalists around. They receive my highest recommendation.

BEST GROUP EVER...SERIOUSLY........2006-03-22

I am not going to write an in depth review, I am just going to express my opinion of this amazing group. I found Nothingface by accident one day looking for music to download. I figured I would give them a try, since I am SO picky when it comes to music. When I first listened to their music, I was blown away. These guys will rock your face off. They have a VERY dark and heavy sound, not the heaviest sound, but they have an amazing combo of great voals and great instrumentals. I would also like to add that Nothingface is NOT dead, in fact they will be releasing another album some time this year. If you like music that isn't like everything else out therem and if you like heavy, dark music, I HIGHLY recommend Nothingface.

I paid 17 bucks for this...I normally don't pay over ten bucks for CD's, but I couldn't find this used, as a lot of people like Nothingface, so I bought it for 17 bucks. None of those 17 bucks were wasted. You are probably thinking that Nothingface is "yet another nu metal band". Wrong. Nothingface, unlike many of the carbon copies, know how to deliver some brutal stuff. These tracks are all classics. "Breathe Out", "Goldtooth" and "So Few" are the best tracks on this CD, along with "Grinning", "The Sick" and "I, Diablo". I recommend this for people like me who don't necessary like nu metal, but they like the stuff by artists such as Helmet, Vision Of Disorder, Earth Crisis, Will Haven and Killswitch Engage. I guarantee that you will not waste a minute of your time. Calling this "nu metal" would be an insult. This is just straight forward metal.

ignore klauscore as he listens to limp bizkit and kid rock so his opinion means jack. oh and btw ryan, korn is good, but nothingface is 10x better than korn and killswitch engage combined are. so you might as well live with that fact, step out of your dream world and listen to some nothingface, but this time, with an open mind.

Nothingface might be gone but their legacy lives .......2004-07-25

What happens in America when a band proves time and time again they are the top of their class? Fame? Fortune? Respect? Unfortunatly not, what's more likely to happen is that they will be screwed over by their label, ignored for bands with 1/1000000 of their talent and then finally when it seems like their about to get a break, get dropped from their tour and label and have to quit because they just can't stand it anymore. In case you haven't figured it out, I'm talking about Nothingface. Who called it quits about a month ago. Enough of my b^tching about the American music scene though and onto the review.

Everday Atrocity is one of the only true gems produced in America and one of the most intense records ever. As far as this compares to the rest of the Nothingface catalog, I would say it's the best or shares that title with Skeletons. Somewhat lackluster production takes away from this a bit but not in a major way. Matt Holt sings/screams with an intensity somewhat lacking on later efforts and this is undoubtably his best performance ever. The guitars are nothing exceptional which is somewhat expected of this kind of straight forward music. You won't hear a million solos per minute or a hundred different genres crammed into a 40 minute song but they definitly know how to write riffs that add to the intensity of the album. The rhythem section holds very well in that somehow they make the insane intensity of this album catchy. If you like Slipknot, Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Strapping Young Lad, God Forbid or any of the other bands that blend hardcore with singing vocals then you owe it to yourself to check out this album. If you haven't already, I recommend checking out the bands mentioned above in addition to this.

This album had from jump! You never really think an artist can outdo something great! like his last album, but he did it again. All i can say is that is unfortunate that Jon's management and Promo crew can't come through for him. This album has everything an r&b soul listener wants to hear. Smooth beats with an edge, contrasting palettes that are candy to ones ears, Ballads and a little hip-hop to keep thing interesting!!! An album definitely for your itunes library!!!! keep it comin JON B!!!

i love this cd, i was in line@circuit city the day it came out. I'm from ny so i love soul music & 2 me jon b is my generations Michael Mcdonald.!! I play multiple,lay it down,what in the world&lately alot.. However im still feeling the cool relax & pleasures you like cd....especially tracks on the cd "6,7,8". If u r a true Jon B fan,U would love the cd too bad it didnt get the props it did.

I bought the CD not to long ago. I wasn't to sure what to expect from it. After "They Don't Know", I was hooked on this man. His lyrics could fit any mood. I must say though, I bought the CD for "What I Like About You". That song made me run out and buy the whole thing. That track sets this man apart from others. It talks about true, pure love. Most R&B artist these days don't understand that. But Jon B. with his old school background, gets down to the unscathed feelings. If you like Jon B. and have some of his other albums, GO OUT AND GET "STRONGER EVERYDAY". You won't be disappointed

I am a big Jon B fan. I own every one of his albums and watched this cat grow from the Bonifide album. He is such a great producer/writer/musician. This is a solid effort after the much liked Pleasure U Like which was also a solid effort. Stronger Everyday, like Pleasure U Like are CDs you can listen to non-stop. I love how Jon B has a hip-hop/R&B sound.

Every song on this album is a banger worthy of radio play, but I do love Multiple a lot, on this track he singing about how many times he can make his girl cum. I also like the track he did with Babyface, What I Like About You, that song is a throwback R&B joint that just sound great. Patience and AZ U are tracks also I seem to enjoy with great lyrics and awesome beats.

The guest appearances are on point R.I.P ODB (Dirt McGirt) and 2Pac.

Regardless of Jon B lack of promotion, Stronger Everyday is worth purchasing and should have been multi-platinum. I hope he keeps blessing his fans with more much needed music!

Stop sleeping on this man.......2005-11-05

I've been down with Jon B since the cool relax album and been hooked since.His new album is more personal than his others. First off his studio burned down and his wife left. And his problems with his record label. The man can sing slow jams stop sleeping on him i just wish he had a better record label if u went slow jams and music u can kick it with ur girl this album is it.

Do you like movies that will make you cry so hard that you will need a dump truck full of tissues? Or when a person gets to a scary part in the woods and a man almost dies and gets your hopes up. Well if you do this is the movie the for you.

This movie has terrific characters in it. If you are wondering how I'll tell you how. Because all characters fit into the part that they are supposed to play in. defiantly Edward bloom. Edward bloom is the star of this movie. He is a brave and ignorant man. So if you don't believe me that he fits in his part GIVE ME A CALL.

Also this movie has a lot of fantasy world in it. Like the 12 foot tall giant the moving (killing) trees. Also the eye. The eye is a eye that a witch has that will show you how you die. Pretty freaky ha. Most movies that you see are realistic not fantasy except for a couple.....this one is. It's a very good movie you really really need too watch it.

This movie is mostly about an old man that tells a bunch of stories about him in his younger years. He talks about what he does and how he does it. You will never understand this movie if you don't watch it from the beginning.

This movie also has a couple of related and spooky parts in it. Like when his wife walks in will he is in the bath tub under water with his arms crossed a crossed his chest. And at the end of the movie he went to the lake and his son dropped him in the water and the old mans arms was crossed like in the bath tub. That is a related. The spooky is........well trust me you don't want too know. Any way I don't want to ruin it.

When you watch this movie please call me and tell me if you have any more of them tissues. Because I need them for next time I watch this movie. Sorry I couldn't tell you more but I really didn't want to tell you none of it. I just wanted to say WATCH THIS MOVIE NOW!!!!!

Big Fish Soundtrack.......2005-09-04

It is always great when you buy a soundtrack that actually plays the music exactly as it happened in the movie. There have been some that I've bought that are 'inspired' by the movie.

My only disappointment was that there were some songs like Sandra's Farewell that I just craved went longer than 1min 16secs.

Despite this, I'm glad I have got it.

Perfect complement to a fantastic film.......2005-07-27

Tim Burton's film Big Fish is a wonderful movie, and composer Danny Elfman's Oscar-nominated score complements it beautifully. Elfman's music is very understated in the movie, and it wasn't until I listened to the film's soundtrack recently that I realized how hauntingly beautiful his music is.

Elfman's music is perfect for Burton's magical film about the larger-than-life character of Edward Bloom. Mystical, whimsical, and eerie at times, the score takes you deep into the weird and wondrous world of the character. The emotional "Sandra's Theme" is one of the best pieces of music on the soundtrack, and the jazzy number "Twice the Love" (the Siamese twins' song) closes out the CD with a bang.

The soundtrack is mostly instrumental, with the exception of the first seven tracks. These tracks are an eclectic mixed bag of music, featuring artists ranging from Pearl Jam to Buddy Holly to Elvis Presley. The real gold on this particular CD, though, is Elfman's music.

Even if you haven't seen the film (and you should; it's wonderful), if you enjoy quality instrumental music, I highly recommend picking up a copy of this soundtrack.

"Amazing" song.......2005-02-27

I believe the other song refered to in the trailers is Josh Kelley's "Amazing" from his For the Ride Home CD. Hope this helps those of you who were looking for this song as I was.

good soundtrack for a nice movie.......2004-08-13

The Big Fish soundtrack goes well with the best movie. I was impressed, but I think that "Dinah" by Bing Crosby is the oldest song on here.It's a neat thing to listen to if you're traveling somewhere far away and you're driving.I usually just listen from track 1-7 because they're the only ones that aren't classical, and thanks to Elvis Presley's superb existence and the year 1955, we have rock music!

nice vocals, but the music style is too emo for me.......2006-02-22

I'm sorry. I think that people were a little too "star-happy" about this cd. I think they gave the album a little more credit than it is due. I can appreciate that Melee is good at what they do. Hence why I gave them the 3 stars. The lead singer has an outstanding voice. But alas....he is bordering on being another whiny emo kid through most of the songs. And the music....yeah the band itself is in synch and has put in their hours of practicing to get everything just so. But....I just can't hear this type of emo/indie music with a "fresh ear" anymore. I feel like it's been done a million different times, and it just all sounds the same to me.

For that reason, I am not as generous with my star rating....and I am probably going to give this cd away to someone.

Pure, unadulterated, good music.......2005-08-23

Although titled Everyday Behavior, Melee are not an everyday band. In this day and age when it seems every band sells out and trades in their real fans for a spot on TRL, Melee are a reason to sigh w/ relief. Their music is polished indie rock w/ a soft touch that leaves a deep, lasting impression. It's the kind of music that brings to mind curling up on the couch in a warm blanket w/ a mug of hot chocolate while watching the rain outside your window. W/ some bands, keyboards/piano sounds out of place, more like an afterthought than anything else. W/ Melee, it's fitting and the music would lose a lot of its meaning w/o it. "The War" is quite possibly one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. It's not heartbreaking or heartwarming, it's more heartmassaging, soothing. Enough w/ the moody and angry lyrics, let's hear it for something hopeful and positive. Plus, the vocals are amazing. Chris Cron is, in my opinion, the perfect vocalist: he has a beautiful voice w/o sounding like an effeminate wimp whining about love. Love doesn't have to be painful and you don't have to limit yourself to just writing about love, two things that are proved by this album. This album also establishes Melee as a truly talented band. They're not just entertainers, they're musicians. Sick of the same old power chords? That's not what you're going to get from these guys. You get real, thoughtful, unique songwriting and talent, plus a great live show that you can't help but be drawn into. You're not just watching them perform, you feel like you're a part of it. It's immediately obvious how much they love what they do. The entire atmosphere during their performance is a mood booster.

The guys are really good people, nice guys. As was said in a previous review, some of the money generated from album sales goes to a good cause. Honestly, there's no good reason why you shouldn't give this album a chance.

Found a new fave band!.......2005-08-09

I cannot say enough about this band. I saw them live and fell in love with them on the spot, bought the CD and listen to it non-stop. Surprising because it's not my usual style of music as I'm usually into Atreyu, Greeley Estates, Funeral for a Friend, The Used, Slipknot...harder stuff. Chris's beautiful, beautiful voice backed by the bands great musical talents provides a surreal experience. Music Utopia. Love them.

Amazing Cd!.......2005-04-23

This cd is one of my favorites that I have ever bought. I saw Melee in concert last night and they rocked it! I also got to meet the guys afterward and they are awesome down-to-earth guys that were so happy to sign my cd. Great group of guys that produce some amazing music. Check this cd out!

Mêlée is tight.......2004-10-12

Mêlée has to be the coolest band out there. They agreed to come out to my college and do a free show for the students in order to support my sorority in recruitment. On top of that, they signed plenty of autographs, gave out free stuff like t-shirts and stickers, and the best part: they stuck around and talked with me and some others for a long azz time after they finished performing! And they were such totally cool and chill guys, we all just wanted to hang out with them more. So I did my research and I found out they actually donated a portion of the CD's proceeds to a charity group in the OC that fights child abuse. I just think that's so cool.

But anyways, the guys being awesome is beside the point; the point is that the cd is awesome. So, when I heard we were bringing them to my school, I listened to a few of the songs I could find (and I liked them), but it wasn't until I heard them play the songs live that I knew how really great they were. A live performance is what makes or breaks a band for me, and their show definitely made them!! I was soo impressed. The lead singer sounded great, everyone played great, and the songs were tight. So, it was the performance that prompted me to buy the CD, and I am so glad I did because I seriously like every last song.

My favorite tracks: Perfect Mess, Got It All, The War, Lion's Cage, and Mestizos Love Song. (But I do like them all a lot)

Thanks to the last reviewer for pointing out Composure, cuz I dunno how long it woulda taken me to figure that out =) that song is pretty cool too so make sure to look for it if u get the cd.

So, if you like alternative rock or indie rock, you might like them. Their music has elements from a variety of genres (and I'd say time periods) and they definitely have a unique style. Personally, I think they will be on MTV sometime in the near future, so if u r like me at all, u r gonna want to discover them before that.
