5 out of 5 stars one of Marduk's best albums.......2007-02-22

"Panzer Division Marduk" is completely brutal from start to finish. Marduk are one of the top bands in black metal. Black metal generally is a love it or hate it affair. Either you "get it" or you don't... and that's okay. If you prefer lush atmospheric keyboards with your dark music, keep on going, this isn't for you - Marduk is 'old school', with chainsaw guitars, inhumanly fast drumming, blatantly Satanic lyrics, and gutteral vocals. And that's exactly what one expects from a Marduk release, and do they ever deliver!

4 out of 5 stars One of Marduk's best.......2006-06-23

This has always been my favorite Marduk album, alongside Nightwing. Yes, it's fast, and yes, it might be repetitive, but the drumming is what sets this aside. Everything is fast, but the drumming gives the music a sort of heaving nature that becomes kind of hypnotizing. In addition Legion has to be one of the best vocalists in black metal; he might be repetitive, but he has incredible tone. If you're new to Marduk, start either here or with Nightwing.

1 out of 5 stars Boring.......2004-09-02

Initially, I kind of enjoyed indulging myself in this...but now that I look at it more closely, this is sub-par music. I've never been a fan of grindcore, and this is what this resembles more than anything - old Napalm Death. Blast beats, blast beats, blast beats! Overly loud drumming with the aforementioned is all that goes on in the realm of drumming! This isn't chaotic, it's just irritating.

Aside from the monotonous vocal performance and arrangement, the singer isn't too bad. He sounds as if he wants to be Nocturno Culto or Dead, but he lacks the sheer personality and passion of the previously mentioned vocalists. Not bad growls by any means; what really kills his deliverance is the monotony and a seemingly lost passion for music. One thing is for sure, Marduk do not seem to bore themselves with their repetition in the guitar department. The overuse of simple power chords played in a speedy manner obviously doesn't aim to impress.

There are some good tremolo melodies here and there (the beginning of "Christraping Black Metal" is rather ardent), but once the blast beats start right after, everything just falls into a sloppy mess. Since the polished production is dominated by blast beats, it covers up the eroding and simple guitar riffs a bit; a stupid manner in which they try to retain their credibility as good musicians, but they should have thought of that before they got into the studio. What they need more of is tremolo melody and less fatuous power chords played fast. At this point Marduk should take a lesson from Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" album and learn how their style of black metal should be played and how it should sound. Download before you consider purchasing this, unless you're really into "the scene."

3 out of 5 stars Good but not great.......2004-08-09

Well apart from alot of cheese, with this album you get an evil (yes sometimes VERY cheesey) sounding, brutal-but-melodic journey into the dark and angry depths of... well something anyway! The cd starts off sounding pretty cheesy but in the end sounds much more evil. The drumming is, yes, anti-aircraft fire and is quite good, the guitarist are pretty damn good as well, vocally its much of the same and the bass mainly follows the guitars.

Fairly unoriginal material but still good, a bit of filler but otherwise a good cd, I might go into more detail later, I'm a bit busy now.

4 out of 5 stars The Ultimate War Music!.......2004-06-16

Filled with samples of destruction, lightning fast guitars, drumming boardering on the chaotic, and simple yet enjoyable lyrics, move over last flight of the valkries Marduk are the champions of music for war! This is everything a black metal maniac could wish for. Pros are that is is fast, heavy, and extreme. The only cons that come to mind is that it is somewhat simplistic, and as mentioned before Marduk stands a hair's width from becoming noise!

2 out of 5 stars The Most Unrelenting Album I've Ever Heard.......2006-01-20

This is by far the most nihilistic and unrelenting album I've ever heard. It consists of app. 98% blasts beats, no exaggeration. But how is the album itself? Not that great unfortunately. While I wouldn't call the album bad, nothing really stands out. It's pretty much just non-stop blasting and brutality with very little interesting going on. There are certainly some good tracks on this one, but not enough to make it a mandatory album. Pick it up used to hear how audacious it is. Otherwise I recommend Nightwing over this.

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME BLACK METAL.......2003-09-05

This CD is raging fast but awesome at the same time. I recomend Panzer Division and Heaven Shall Burn. Standout tracks (502,Baptism By Fire,Christraping Black Metal,BloodDawn,Beast Of Prey)and relly the whole CD is good.

4 out of 5 stars insane.......2002-01-24

first, let's get one thing straight, marduk rules black metal, period... comprende? having said that, this is not one of their better albums, but it is still brutally extreme with blistering speed. average song length is just under or just over 3 minutes... which can be typical depending on which style of black metal you are referring to. but what i'm getting at is that there isn't much deversity on this album, they all pretty much sound the same. the exception is "christ-raping black metal"... this song has a relentless ferocity to it that is unmatched by any other song on the album. remember, when we're talking marduk, we're talking seriously evil and fast metal, so keep that in mind when reading this. marduk has better albums, but this one is still very good.

3 out of 5 stars MMMAAARRRDDDUUKK!.......2000-04-11

Prettty decent death/black metal, although they're from Sweeten, they don't play homosexuall musick! Some say they do, but I don't think sO... Hmm... I can sum this up as 30-something mins of blistering speed & grim brutaity, I gotta hand it to the drummer as well, he's pretty possessed, lol. This band is a bit trendy now, just look at ALL the reviews here, but overall It's good, their IS better stuff out there! Try ThornSpawn, AntaeuS, Impiety, Azaghal, Sarcophagus, Krieg!

5 out of 5 stars A Black Metal fan from CA........2000-03-21

When I first put this cd in my cd player, it totally blasted my brains! This is one of the best BM albums releasedI've ever heard and also one of the fastest. Fans of melodic BM will not like this cd, so stay away from this album. Pure, war filled hate and speed beyond recognition.I truly recommend this cd to anyone who likes fast, raw, hateful BM.

3 out of 5 stars Black War Metal 100 MPH=Marduk Panzer Division.......2003-09-05

This CD is totally intense real Black Metal, played raging fast. It has breakdowns with the guitar riffs and solos occasionaly but for the most part is really fast. Great CD,one of Marduks best. This CD is not for trendy posers into NU-metal ,so I would advise to stay away, but for people into Black Metal and Death Metal,be sure to listen to this CD.

4 out of 5 stars Insane!.......2001-10-20

This is one of the most over-the-top releases I've come across! From beat one it's full speed ahead, fire all barrels, blow away the competition! Still this the second album in Marduk's "Blood, Fire, Death" trilogy is a bit too fast at times, leaving it unstructured and without direction. If you're a fan of fast and brutal music, you should get this anyway.

5 out of 5 stars Total Black/War Metal Assault.......2001-09-28

PDM is my favorite Marduk album, even topping "La Grande Danse Macabre". From the opening track the speed and brutality never lets up, bludgeoning the listener into dust. This is an all out black metal assault that you should buy immediately!

5 out of 5 stars WAR.......2001-09-04

IF you like war and metal ,YOU NEED THIS ALBUM. Not much else needs to be said.
