5 out of 5 stars Awesome........2007-02-13

I really enjoyed this soundtrack. It brought back a lot of memories of sneaking up behind people in the game, and is definitely one of my more played soundtracks. The sound is very distinctive, and the compositions are incredible; Amon Tobin's mastery of sound shows in every piece.

4 out of 5 stars AK47.........2006-07-18

This CD is spine chillingly brilliant. Relighting memories of hiding in the shadows, and lurching out at your unsuspecting enemies. It's only once you have heard Amon Tobin's work, without being chased by an AK47, that you can really start to appreciate every aspect of this masterpiece. It makes you feel emotions that would never see the light of day in normal music. Simply outstanding! A must buy for a Splinter Cell fan, or for someone that has never played the game. You can't go wrong, in feeling something for this.

4 out of 5 stars Chaotic Indeed..........2006-06-25

I love the title "Chaos Theory". Bit of a contradiction, innit?

Having had this album now for some time, since its release date anyway, I can confirm 2 things:

a) It's still mind bendingly different

and

b) It's absolutely brilliant.

This is quite a departure for Mr Tobin. Being a sound pincher a la DJ Shadow and other Ninja Tune stable mates, it must have been quite a challenge to make this album, considering that it is an album created by REAL musicians. Even more of a challenge considering that they all spoke completely different languages and the two brothers that worked on the record didn't get along (see sleeve notes and various internet reviews). And how did Amon get them to make the sounds he wanted if he himself is not a musician? Did he whistle them? Did he fart them? HOW? Thats what he leaves me wondering after every record. How?

This is the only score (not soundtrack) that I have repeatedly listened to ever, and that goes for films too. It's extraordinary how Tobin manages to bring together a group of instrumentalists to create the sound he has, which is where his studio engineering comes into play, I guess. Chances are we wont see a live show of this.

This is essentially a dark, broody, paranoid, schizophrenic sound murdering excercise that has probably been accentuated due to heavy bouts of weed smoking. A remarkable factor of this album are the things that you think you heard, but are not quite sure. Felt bass rather than heard bass has been an Amon trade mark for a while and he plays with this throughout. The arrangement and complexity of the beats are unprecedented for a pop band setup (anybody care to challenge this?) and I dare anybody to listen to it and NOT feel something. Be it panic, paranoia, power (end of El Cargo), you will feel something. Probably nauseous.

Amon's love of jazz really shines through on this record and I find it subtly blending bits of Permutation with Out from Out Where (Kokubo Sosho Stealth) a real treat to the ears.

Mr Tobin makes it clear that this is NOT a 6th album (incl. Cujo), so just enjoy it for what it is. It doesn't get five stars because it is missing the one essential ingredient that his best album (Permutation) has: a wickedly dark sense of humour that makes you want to chuckle and hide at the same time.

Look at that. An review about a game soundtrack without a mention of the game. Times are a changing. Will it be the case that some day a score for a film will totally outshine the film itself? Who knows, but Amon has finished the score to a film called Taxidermia. I don't have a clue what the film is about, but the score is good though...

5 out of 5 stars Simply Breathtaking.......2005-07-27

Prior to the Playing of SC: Chaos Theory, i didn't even know who Amon Tobin was, and boy was I missing out. Soon after hearing the in-game music, I did some investigating and found out who the artist was. I can tell you that after getting this CD, I love every single track on this disk. The dark, moving melodies can almost draw you into a different world and stir up different emotional reactions within you. If you are even a passing Amon Tobin Fan, this CD is for you.

5 out of 5 stars Amon Rocks Again.......2005-06-03

I've loved Amon's work for years and this is no exception to the high-octane high quality music this guy seems to effortlessly perfect album after album.
For those who know Amon's work, this is a little more `accessible' than his older stuff but don't let that put you off. But for those who don't know it, maybe for the gamers, this is the ideal gateway into his world.
His talent is something to behold, and he reaches new levels with the full orchestra behind his beautifully choreographed strings, samples and heart-breakingly fast beats.
The first track kicks off with a fantastic hard-core riff that promises deeper and darker paths ahead. I'm not much of a gamer, so I can only imagine that the images conjured by the music match and enhance the game to no end. Like walking through a spider-web and the horror dawning on you that you're the prey.
Theme From Battery is one of my favourites, slow and atmospheric, bleeding into the next track with more familiar break beats and industrial sounds. El Cargo is haunting and eerie, letting Displaced slam huge steel doors behind you as you run for cover.
This is total Tobin, at his very best. What I love about it is that I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone who knows serious music when they hear it.

1 out of 5 stars Not Good At All.......2005-03-17

I am a huge fan of ICP, Twiztid, Esham and Blaze but this album was horrible. I think Jumpsteady is not a good rapper at all. I can't even listen to this. The only good song is Ninjas in Action because it has everyone rapping on it. For big ICP fans I recommend this to your collection but to the average listener save your money.

4 out of 5 stars This Cd Will Joke Ya mind.......2005-02-09

This Cd is a great debut album from Jumpsteady He has really developed from the fresh rap on Carnival oF Carnage There is obviously Heavy influences From Life experiences, Dungeons & Dragons and of course The Dark Carnival all the songs are phat as hell but my 2 Favs are Outcha Mouth & Joke Ya Mind

Much Family Love peace

Jumpsteady is an alright rapper, but when you drop a cd thats been anticipated for more than a decade, you make it more than an EP stupid ass!

4 out of 5 stars A mega-mix of hip-hop, samurai swords, and Dr. Who!.......2004-02-05

Jumpstedy's solo EP, "Chaos Theory," is a special treat that must be heard by rap fans and Juggalos alike. While bearing mostly a slab of hardcore hip-hop and kung-fu fantasy lyrics, this album possesses a few surprises. In "Outcha Mouth," Jumpsteady introduces himself as a mysterious ninja from the Dark Carnival. The graphic "In the Last Second" features the rapper as another tragic victim of a drive-by shooting. What makes this particular song stand out is how it samples the theme from Dr. Who! "Mad Mad World" addresses America's war on terrorism and the devastation is has on Afghanistan's women and children. In "Chaos Theory," Jumpsteady takes the Juggalo audience behind enemy lines; armed with a samurai sword, he is a Dragonslayer aiming to destroy an oppressive government and assasinate its political figures. "Ninjas in Action" is a team effort by everyone in Psychopathic records, including Violent J, Shaggy, Twiztid, Blaze, and Anybody Killa. Watch out as the rappers take lyrical stabs at O.J. Simpson and Fred Durst! Finally, this album includes an orchestral remake of ICP's "Joke Ya Mind," a track that was first introduced in the "Beverly Kills" EP. This dream-induced song will seduce listeners into a state of tranquility with magic mist, emerald sand, and a speech borrowed from "The Twilight Zone's" Rod Serling.
If you are in the transition from ordinary citizen to full-blown Juggalo, "Chaos Theory" is an excellent introduction to all of the label's artists. I also strongly recommend the Dark Lotus's 2001 LP, "Tales from the Lotus Pod."

5 out of 5 stars Wow, this is a great E.P.......2003-12-01

This is an excellent E.P from Violent J's brother,Jumpsteady. It has 8 tracks of pure freshness with each track sounding different and unique. This album has lots of special guests from Psychopathic Records which makes the album even better. I really do recommend this album to any Juggalo, you won't be dissapointed.

Peace ya'll

    Product Description

Virtuoso guitarist Paulo Martelli blends classical techniques with popular crossover compositions by composers of Brazil and South America, such as Gismonti, Barrios, Piazzolla etc. in his latest CD, Roots. The CD displays Martelli's gift of painting colors and expressing emotions through the guitar. The music is almost tangible and apparent with detail, and dynamic without being complicating.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars No words can describe..........2006-02-15

I'm only a high school band student, so my knowledge of composers is somewhat limited. However, whenever my band director introduced Chaos Theory for our Marching performace my sophomore year, and my Senior year [this year] Equus by Whitacre [which sadly is not on this recording], I was AMAZED by these composers. The creativity, the personality, the EVERYTHING about the music of these writers is amazing - I don't know what you would like, but I liked this kind of random creativity, it's a good change.

5 out of 5 stars Band Music of the 21st century.......2004-05-11

Do you like the classic band sound? Do you play Sousa marches on your CD player 24 hours a day? Can't get enough of those arrangements of movie music and orchestral standards? If this is the case then this is NOT the album for you. These 4 composers make it a point not to do anything of that sort. Their stated goal is "to create music for the wind ensemble medium not bound by traditional thought or idiomatic cliché" and, if this is truly the case, then I think they (and the superb UNLV Wind Orchestra) have suceeded in creating something that every kind of music fan will find appealing.

If you know Eric Whitacre's choral works, then you will be pleasantly surprised and deeply moved by his wind arrangement of 'Cloudburst.' You'll also laugh until you cry during 'Godzilla Eats Las Vegas' in proof positive that Whitacre (and the rest of BCM) have a wicked sense of humor.

Jonathan Newman's 'Uncle Sid' and 'OK Feel Good' are 2 other standouts for humor. The first is a twisted version of 'Hava Nagila' and if the second one doesn't bring a smile to your face at a certain point towards the end, then you have no soul.

Steven Bryant gets a bit more contemplative during his beautiful 'the logic of all my dreams.' He gets so much "lushness" (if that's a word) into the orchestration that you'll swear you hear strings.

At first glance, James Bonney doesn't strike one as a stereotypical composer in the classical sense. But he proves it nonetheless with his innovative 'Chaos Theory.' Who would ever think of putting a solo electric guitar with an ensemble known for 'Stars and Stripes Forever'? A member of BCM International...that's who!

Seriously brings to you five songs that show off their talent for melancholy yet fresh songwriting, blending hints of K-pop (aka Korean popular music) and British pop within the context of an American rock sound and sensibility. Four young Asian American men of Korean and Vietnamese descent who grew up in Orange County California, the members of this adverbially-named band, Seriously are Chris Pham (Vocals/ Acoustic Guitar), Joshua Baek (Bass), Alex Yi (Electric Guitar) and Philip Park (Drums). Seriously s debut EP is a refreshing introduction to an emerging Asian American music scene that takes a nod from the growing interest in Asian popular culture around the globe akin to international stars Rain and Boa. The subject matter of Seriously s songs seem typical enough about lost love and relationships, yet their CD is peppered with moments of wisdom and raw honesty which reveal their youthful sense of idealism and hope. Seriously s signature melancholy-hued optimism is effortlessly blended in a sonic mix of K-pop s over-the-top drama, the catchy hooks of 90s Britpop bands, and the edginess of American rock.
