Customer Reviews:
Wow..........2006-03-07
Jay Gordon is the master of the remix and he proved that with the first single of Candy@$$...The Green Velvet Stitches remix, while not the focalpoint of the single, is the best feature. The riff is brutal and the repeating of "loving you is, f'ing you is strange" is (while I've said before the repeating of vulgar lyrics is 'forgivable') brilliant...I can't explain it, it's just brilliant. The club 69 remixes of Blue Monday are better than the Optical vocal remix, but the DJ Dan remix is the best. The original is great, don't get me wrong, but these remixes add so much flare it's undeniable how awsome they are!
Nothing beats the original version.......2004-01-10
I confess...I like Orgy's version of the New Order classic "Blue Monday". I like that booming techno/industrial sound that the group gives to the '80s classic. Still nothing beats the original version which is vastly superior to Orgy's rendition. I bought this single a few years ago because I had no desire to buy the entire album. It is just as well because the follow up single to "Blue Monday" sucked big time. Although I do like Orgy's cover of "Blue Monday", I thought (and still do) that the remixes on the single were pretty terrible, except for the Club 69 remix but otherwise I didn't like the rest of the remixes. "Blue Monday" does not sound good as a drum and bass song which you can hear on the Optical Vocal mix. Secondly including the Green Velvet mix of "Stitches" was pointless and also sounded terrible. I don't care for dub remixes. They just bore me. Other than the single mix, the only remix I really did like was Club 69 and that is because Club 69 didn't try to re-work the song completely like drum & bass artist (or group) Optical.
Better than the 'Stitches' single, that's for sure.......2001-08-06
I'm in a good mood right now, so I'm not going to be as critical of the 'Blue Monday' single as I was 'Stitches'. For starters, with the exception of the first track (the single mix), if you just blindly pop this CD into your player without looking at it, you'll be hard pressed to figure out what you're listening to, which isn't necessarily bad, as some of these songs come off really cool.
We start the CD off with the single version of Blue Monday... if you've got 'Candyass', you've heard this; if you have a radio, you've heard this. The second track is the Optical Vocal Mix, which is pretty much your straight-forward drums 'n' bass mix of Blue Monday, and while only 6:37 long, it feels longer than most songs on here. Track three, the Green Velvet Mix of 'Stitches', it blows. For the love of God, stop trying to remix this song, it's not possible. It's basically six minutes and eleven seconds of... looped over a monotonous tune. Just terrible, I can't say enough bad things about this "song".
My patience has paid off! Track four and five, the Club 69 Mix and Club 69 Dub, respectively, are REALLY good. They must have samples from the original New Order 'Blue Monday', because the beats from this sound IDENTICAL to New Order's version. The songs have this 80's feel to them, almost like a New Order/Orgy hybrid song, but at the same time they sound very cutting-edge, and are my personal favorites from the single. The Club 69 Mix clocks in at a whopping 8:40, while the Dub is half a minute shorter, but you'll wish both of them were longer, they're that good. Track six is the Optical Instrumental Mix, which is the Optical Vocal Mix without, you guessed it, vocals! Moving on, for track seven, we get DJ Dan! If you've read my 'Opticon' review, you'll know how much I love this guy ;-). While his 'Stitches' remix was an abomination of remixes, he does a good job of remixing 'Blue Monday', so much that you can actually recognize the song he's mixing!
Overall, this is a MUCH better buy than the 'Stitches' single. You also get the video for 'Blue Monday' in QuickTime format... while I wasn't impressed with any of the videos from 'Candyass', it's still a nice addition to the CD, and makes this a worthwhile purchase. Orgy should let Charlie Clouser, Trent Reznor, Josh Eustis or Troy Van Leeuwen remix some of their stuff, and then I'd be REALLY happy.
Good stuff - makes me wanna dance, among other things.......2001-04-14
I bought this single long after I had both of Orgy's albums. They always get great people to remix their stuff, and I listen to the Blue Monday remixes several times a week. If you like this song and dance music, then this would be a good buy for you. The original music of the song is not very prevelent on most the remixes. There is also an excellent remix of Dissention on here that I like even better than the album version. You can hear the background lyrics better and, on this remix, unlike most Orgy remixes, they left in a lot of the original music. Great beats on the whole single - and heck, the band themselves admitted to listening to the thing for four nights straight when they first heard it (they weren't involved in the remixing for this single). And the Club69 track is aptly named. Pay attention to the beat...
orgy kicks.......2000-06-20
it may not be the best thing orgy has ever done but at least it's good. orgy it a great band. their music is fun and original. as for the two people above who gave orgy such a low rating all i have to say to you is if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. i don't go around bashing the music you like. maybe this isn't the best they've ever but i bet they're making more money doing a half descent song like this than you ever could. what was the point of just saying that it sucked. i think you both should be a little more mature next time you decide to voice your opinion. it's your opinion and i respect that but if it isn't going to do any good you should just keep it to yourself. orgy is the best band i have ever heard and i hope they continue making wonderful music for a long time! this is a great cd!

A dark heavy machine layden with guitars.......2004-08-14
This album by the clay people is my favorite. While their last album, 98's self-titled affair, was really good and catchy "Stone Ten Stitches" Takes the cake. It is darker than thier other albums and there is a lot of dissonant machinery noises mixed in with the throbbing low bass and grungy guitars. There is also an ambient keyboard hum that occurs every so often on these songs, which adds to the industrial atmosphere. The vocals as usual are low and haunting. Altogether a great dark N heavy album, perfect for any fan of Industrial/metal. Not the best of the genre, so it didnt quite get the 5th star, but man...this cd is good. Nuff said
Clay People Review.......2004-01-05
The Clay People are not people from different bands. They are an all original underground band from Albany, New York......and they kick ass!
Question.......2003-01-13
I've heard that The Clay People are of three bands: Disturbed, Slipknot, and Static-X. Is that true?
not bad, but not exciting.......2000-06-16
the clay people are a good band, but they don't do anything special. they play heavy, technologically enhance, brooding music. the leas singer has a broody, haunting, low, voice that works with the music. the drumming is good. the guitar parts are not terribly original though. their next album was better, but this is worth getting if you really liked that one.

sweetness.......2004-05-21
this is one of the best songs ever recorded!
Great single.......2002-06-15
It would have to be, I managed to have it stolen. I really enjoyed it, would listen to it to chill out and keep my mind focused while studying. I enjoyed it much better than their Opticon single.
Then again... I never did care for Opticon to begin with...
I must be the only one..........2001-08-04
... who was EXTREMELY disappointed in this single. I'm a HUGE fan of Orgy, I've been following them since 'Candyass' came out. I got this puppy used for ..., and that should have been an indication of how badly the previous owner wanted to get rid of it.
The first mix, the Hardnox Mix, is probably one of the best songs on the CD, which is why it's probably the first track. Very beat-heavy with good atmospherics, it's a slowed down version of the original. Track two, P.Q.M.'s Cracker Beat Radio Pass, is a VERY hip-hop version of Stitches that sticks to the original lyrics almost word for word, no restructuring or anything. Not great. The third mix, DJ Dan's mix, made me take two stars off this CD. DJ Dan should be dragged in the street, shot, and stripped of his DJ card. It drones on for 8 1/2 painful minutes, and to this day I can't tell that it's a remix of Stitches, let alone anything else.
P.Q.M.'s Amped Up Dub [with Vocals] isn't music. It's my CD skipping on the words "so precious" over a droning beat for 8:15. I'm losing faith in P.Q.M. by this point. Oh yeah, the CD just lost two more stars. Apparently P.Q.M.'s Cracker Beat Pass might be longer than the Radio version, but other than that, I can't tell a difference. Wow. Track 6, the Smack My Stitch Up Extended Mix, now this is good. It starts off with a slow beat and heavy guitars, and is a REAL dark aggro hip-hop mix. It's appreance saves what would have been a terrible CD, and gets it back up to a whopping two stars.
Dissention only makes one appearance, so don't be tricked by the "Stitches/Dissention" name of this CD, it's Stitches +1. Guess what? The first half is darn near identical to the original; it only changes up when the chorus of "Don't waste your f***ing time" appears, which has been reworded to "Don't waste your precious", and slowed down a bit. It sounds cool, but "Don't waste your precious time"? Come on.
Oh yeah, the video for 'Stitches' is also on here. I wasn't impressed. Overall, this is a terrible buy for your money, only buy this if you are the most die-hard of Orgy fans, have this urge to see the 'Stitches' video, or you can get it for a ... or ... like I did.
An excellent solid single / video / remixes.......2001-07-29
First off this is the most solid single I have ever seen, because of the amount of remixes, the song, and the CD Extra that comes with it complete with a video of Stitches. There are six remixes of Stitches on here and one remix of Dissension. The band explores new remixing methods in this single, such as having a DJ / turntablist for the DJ Dan remix, and they even have Dave "the rave" Oglivie remixing on this single (Dave is one of the better remixers on Earth). The only downfall is that in the middle the CD drags with some repetitive dance remixes, but at least there is more original remixes than not. The single is worth getting just for the video, because where else can you see it full screen quality? The video features unique special effects, such as the band playing in front of the camera, while it is playing in the background in an incredible mechanical glass box! Worth a see!
Excellent.......2001-01-15
This maxi-single also includes many remixes of Stitches and Dissention. They're also both from Family Values '98. Dave Oglivie is friends with them and he is awesome. He also did a remix on the new NIN album, Things Falling Apart. But you need Candyass mainly for Platinum and Dizzy.

yet more great but lesser-known 70s punk.......2007-05-02
I saw an ad in Trouser Press way back in 1978 for the two 7" EPs by The Alan Milman Sect and Man-Ka-Zam. I was intrigued but it took me until 2006 to actually check them out, when I discovered there was a CD available. Anyone into 77/78 punk should enjoy this. Not every song is a classic but there are some killer tracks on here. My only beef is one song is missing from each of the two EPs, so now I'm going to need to find them so I can have all of it!

This is a pretty good cd. compared to most of the crap out there it is worth getting. It is not quite as good as the other cd by the stitches tho.
great album.......2005-02-21
wow this is incredible. the singing is kinda.... odd but the rest kicks major azz. great punk album. only thing i have to say, don't buy it on cd whatever you do. try and find it on vinyl somewhere. its incredible. the whole thing is totally white except for a bit of gloss (even the vinyl itself is totally clear!!!). i'd never heard of this band before, but i found this at a used record store and i knew that even if they sucked (which they dont!!) it would be totally worth the 12 bucks. this thing is great
Punk ... Rock!.......2003-02-05
You'd think that 8 years after 8x12 was released that this CD would [be lakcing]....but not so! This is just as good if not better than 8x12. Buy this CD!
Worth the wait........2002-12-30
After years of waiting for a true full length CD release from the Stitches, it finally occurs, and they don't disappoint. This is great 1977 style punk, which rocks from start to finish. Don't judge it by it's first few songs, because they save the best songs for later, starting with Pick Me Up. My favorites are Kings of Camden, Brains Are On Vacation, and Automatic. Super song writing and super production, a classic punk album.

Album Description
'216 Stitches' is the first of three albums to be released in quick succession by Crosley Field. The title song is a nice banjo inflected ramble about heartbreak and baseball. "Her Sugarland Express" connects the Lusitania sinking, the Hindenburg, and the Titanic, with all events being dwarfed by personal loss. "The cows came home last night" is the type of song that country used to make, but doesnt anymore. From the recounting of a man being arrested for killing his lover to the last fleeting thoughts of a murdered prostitute, the album is full of old fashioned murder ballads and thoughts of redemption. Simple stories simply told.
