Excellent meditations with explanations for beginners & others.......2006-02-09

I was lucky enough to snap this CD up when it was--briefly--on special somewhere else, and it was a fantastic deal! I give it 5 stars because, for me, it works on every level. The instruction is excellent (each track is followed by a reflection that explores how the meditation went for you), the guidance expertly helps achieve the physical and mental results of serenity, Ali Sharifi's voice is very pleasant, leaving adequate spaces for contemplation, and the gentle acoustic guitar music in the background is also just right--soothing and peaceful without being sappy. Mr. Sharifi gives sessions of four different types of meditations, and all are effective. The breath and heartbeat meditations I found especially useful for slowing down my systems. The inner voice meditation did not resonate as much for me, since it has a computer for the inner voice--using computers in my work, I don't associate them with relaxation--but the narration is conducive to making thoughts appear from your subconscious, and he does also suggest that you use anything you choose for your inner voice (theater screen, chalkboard, spirit guide, etc.). I also appreciated that although he is a Reiki teacher and past-lives therapist (per the description at CD Baby, which also has sound samples), none of these personal beliefs were imposed on these meditation sessions: He focuses on the essential goals and goes straight to the heart of the matter with simple, well-thought-out techniques. The CD is aptly named indeed. Mr. Sharifi states this CD is the first in a series--let's hope he does continue the series! The times of the tracks (each followed by a 2-1/2-to-5-minute reflection or conclusion) are as follows: Focus on Breath: 6:02; Mantra Meditation, 12:29; Focus on Heartbeat, 9:11; Finding Your Inner Voice, 18:45. Thus, you can listen to a single meditation with or without the following reflection for a fairly short session, or listen to several of the meditations for a longer session.

"Simple Meditations for Complex Times" is the best meditation CD I have come across in all my years as a Chiropractor. The 4 meditation options to choose from was a pleasant change which appealed to me. According to my mood, I could focus on the 'breath', or 'mantra', 'heartbeat', or 'inner voice' selections. I enjoyed the variation and felt my patients would benefit from this as well. The CD has been extremely helpful in assisting my patients to relax, lower blood pressure, and gain more serenity. I highly recommend this CD to all!

If you've ever been curious about, or seriously interested in meditation, you'll want to hear this CD.

It's full of valuable and useful meditation information including, breathing techniques, various techniques for focusing, visualization concepts, and not to mention great background music. It discusses how meditation sessions can be short or long, and done at home, work, or just about anywhere else.

The exercises are easy to follow. And as I listened to the CD, I realized more and more how appropriately named it was...Simple Meditations For Complex Times. I can't imagine that anyone who listens to the CD can't get some benefit from it.

I simply had to write a review. This man has a gift for easily guiding you into a meditation smoothly, safely, and effortlessly. Not only are his techniques excellent, but the resonance of his voice was made for guided meditation.I was actually able to meditate and I had all but given up. Thank you Ali Sharifi.

Simply the best CD ever.......2002-06-06

I have a very stressful job in Sales and I am often on the road. There is one thing that I cannot forget when I pack: this Simple Medidations CD is just amazing. After 30 minutes in my hotel room, I feel calm, de-stressed, so relaxed that the following morning, I am serene and I can deal with even the most difficult clients. I highly recommend it.

I have nothing more to say than : "Mega Opus" ! This is a mini CD from Keep Of Kalessin ! Musically it can be described as a mixture between Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" and Zyklon-B's "Blood Must Be Shed" !

I can only suggest this to people who are into black metal of the intelectual Norwegean scene . Hail to the genius of this release ! I bow down to its' creators and to this truly grand opus !

Irish Oi!.......2003-11-28

I didn't know what to expect with this album. A friend just lent it to me and I think its great. Not sure much about the band....when they came out, how old this album is, etc. It's a classic Oi! style, as far as content, the sound of the songs, and the general attitude of the band. I know its the most popular thing in the world to compare every Irish sounding band to Dropkick Murphys, but these guys are alot different from them. DKM has more of a punk rock feel to them, these guys are definately Oi! I'd say they're closer to the 4-Skins or The Business more than anything else.

Album Details

The Story of Defleshed Started Out in Late 1991 by Guitarist Lars Löfven and the First Album "ma Belle Scalpelle" (MCD), Saw the Light of Day in 1994. In 1996 Oskar Karlsson Left the Band for Raised Fist, and Instead Mathias Modin (Later also Dark Funeral) Found his Way to the Drums. The Three-piece, Consisting of Lars Löfven on Guitars, Mathias Modin on Drums and Gustaf Jorde (Former Crematorium) on Vocals and Bass, Signed with Regain Records in 2002 and Released "Royal Straight Flesh" Later that Year. In 2003 They Re-released "Fast Forward" with Some Bonus Tracks. Since the Beginning Defleshed have Toured Europe with in Flames and Cannibal Corpse, Toured Japan, and Released Five Albums, and Now, in March 2005, it is Time for their 6:th Album "Reclaim the Beat"! this Time around the Producer Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad and More…) was in on it from the Start, Producing and Mixing in Dug-out Studios, Uppsala, Sweden. Before rock and roll was cool again, before beards were the new uniform for "underground" bands, and before Justin Timberlake was "bringing sexy back", four men from quiet little Lancaster Pennsylvania were writing songs that fused their myriad influences with the straightforward energy of good old-fashioned rock and roll and imploring puzzled audiences nationwide to "get sexy". 7 years, 400 shows, a dozen tours, 4 releases, and a revolving cast of 2nd guitarists into their existence, SADAHARU have shown no sign of stagnating. Rather, the band is back with their third full-length, and easily their most complete and intriguing effort to date. Sonically, SADAHARU continue to baffle the listener, decimating genre boundaries to create a sound that is familiar and yet obtuse. Upon listening, one is immediately struck by the notion that it is impossible to discern if these songs are off-kilter post-everything rock songs disguised as pop-songs, or if its the other way around. Imagine MASTODON covering BLOC PARTY, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE covering TV ON THE RADIO, or FUGAZI covering BLACK SABBATH, and you may be in the right ballpark. Strikingly complex, yet immediately accessible, Resist. Revolt. Reclaim. is easily SADAHARUÃ"s most cohesive and evolved work to date, and just may be your new favorite record.
