Greatest album ever.......2006-08-11

I've kept my sony walkman around for years so I could listen to the album (on cassette). I am glad to see it on CD. As of writing this the album artwork pictured on the site is different from what is shipped.

Good stuff, but a glaring omission.......2004-12-28

Basically a compilation of "Heartland", "Flame" and the "Babies" maxi single, this is a nice little collection to find its way to CD.

Of course, the huge miss here is not including the original version of "Send Me an Angel". The new version simply does not compare to the original.

I really enjoyed "Flame" and am grateful to find such great tunes included as "Face to Face" and "No Shame". Their take of "Babies" is surprisingly good too.

If you're looking for "Heartland", it has been reissued on CD. It's well worth seeking out that disk for the original version of "Send Me an Angel".

Throughout the 1980s, "We are the Scorpions!" was lead vocalist Klaus Meine's concert-opening battle cry, energizing and readying the faithful in sold-out stadiums for a Teutonic onslaught of vital, sometimes plodding, eardrum-splitting rock anthems. In short, the arena-rock monsters were never a picnic-under-the-stars kind of band ... until Moment of Glory. The new millennium brings the Scorpions full circle, melding in-your-face party anthems like "Rock You Like a Hurricane" (now called "Hurricane 2000") and "Big City Nights" into fully orchestrated concoctions featuring the Berlin Philharmoniker. Where the grandiose likes of "Wind of Change" and "Still Loving You" are obvious choices for such a pairing, and indeed, work well, the "Deadly Sting Suite," with almost unrecognizable instrumental versions of "He's a Woman, She's a Man" and "Dynamite," will likely catch the unknowing fan of classic Scorps off guard. Both Deep Purple and Metallica have used full orchestras to accent their songs with mixed results, and the same goes for the Scorps. Got me hooked on Scorpions.......2007-04-12

I absolutely love the marriage of rock and symphony here. It's gorgeous. The Scorpions take already amazing songs and pump them up an extra notch. A long time ago I heard "Still Loving You" on the radio, not knowing who sung it. It took me years to finally discover the Scorpions. I own two different versions of "Still Loving You," and I far prefer this one to the original. It gives me this yearning inside. The only thing I don't like about this album is the guest vocalists. I love Klaus Meine. He adds an ethereal element to the music, and with the guest vocals, it takes away from the beauty, in my opinion. But don't let that deter you from getting this, because it is so worth it. "Rock You Like a Hurricane" is amazing! It's all amazing!

With metal music it is always louder is better and this album found one of the coolest ways to make metal louder. Combining the Scorpions with a the Philharmonic creates one of the coolest sounding albums I have ever heard.

i dont own this album but i have heard the songs off of it and i think their all great and performed well. and also as a side note since i read alot of comments about the guest vocals on "big city nights" but no mention of who: it is Ray Wilson best known for replacing Phill Collins in Genesis and recording the classic Calling all Stations

Just when you think the scorpions couldn't do worst...they prove you wrong!
Even Metallica's s&m is better...close but still.
I am sure that it was a great experience to live, for the band and the audience, because that type of event is always unique and can bring strong emotions-unless you have a dumb..s sitting next to you, drinkin' beer and screaming every five minutes Dynamiiiiiiite!!-but on cd...for me it doesn't do it,but it probably is a treasure for those who were there.
Now, I'm not gonna start the debat with DEEP PURPLE and the LSO(1999) but I was there at the Royal Albert Hall and that's why I can understand the concept and the thrill of holding the recording of such concerts...but still DEEP PURPLE 's symphonic album features something that neither Scorpions or Metallica holds...and this is an ORIGINAL PIECE OF MUSIC CREATED FOR A GROUP AND A ORCHESTRA!

AWESOME is how I would sum up this CD. From the moment I first heard it, I knew I HAD to have it. Buy it! You won't be disappointed!

Album Description

Real Life is a band that has strong roots in the pop music market, dating back into the 80's with huge hits like "Send Me An Angel", but carrying forward into the modern synthpop scene. The new album "Imperfection" is loaded with potential hits, and one of those stand-out songs is "Oblivion". This CD single presents several versions of the song which range in mood from edgy, to trancey, to old-school synthpop. "Oblivion" is an amazing single that deserves HEAVY HEAVY club and radio rotation. In fact, "Oblivion" gets my vote for the next James Bond theme. The lyrics and music are perfectly suited to 007 (just listen for the John Barry-esque break at 1:27 if you don't believe me). This track combines the best elements of Real Life, old and new. David's vocals are crisp and effortless, surrounded by lush electronics, and a haunting synth lead that will entrance you. Great remixes plus a new take on "God Tonight" make this a must have CD5. The title track will appeal to both the fans of "Heartland" as well as those listening to newer acts like Dirty Vegas. Pop this into the CD player of a nice convertible on a warm night in Miami and hit cruise control. Eat your heart out Pet Shop Boys fans, David and George have taken over.

This song is a big hit at the Club I promote for. the first time I heard it I started laughing but as I danced and listened I became amazed at the overall quality of the re-mix/re-make of this 80's classic. This cd is a must for clubbers who love classic hits done in a more modern style.

What a big waste of money. I thought I was getting the original artist or whoever did the title in the 80's. This version sounds more like a disco track. I would skip this rendition unless of course you like disco.

This version of the the song does not come close for being as good..The vocals are terrible and so is chorus work ....The keyboards were poorly arrranged...They sounded too acoustic and dry as were the vocals also....The original version by Real life was perfectly done..The song can not be improved but only worsen by anyone attempting to re-recorded or remix it..I wasted my money on it..

Great compilation overall.......2003-05-13

It could be easy to pass Real Life off as a one-hit wonder (Send Me An Angel,) but it just wouldn't be right. Sure, that song's the highlight of the band's career, but they also whipped out some other excellent tracks, many of which are available on this compilation.

As another reviewer stated, the versions of these songs available in this compilation are mostly remixes and edits. If you want the original versions of Send Me An Angel and/or Catch Me I'm Falling, you should get Heartland, the band's 1983 debut album. Of course, the former was radically popular, so it can be found on some eighties compilations (I believe New Wave Hits of the Eighties Volume Eleven has it.)

This is an excellent compilation overall, but even it has its shortcomings. What's the compilation called? Send Me An Angel. You get two versions of the track (the 1989 remix version and an extended dance mix version (the highlight of the disc,)) but the original version is missing in action. Also, it is VERY short for a CD compilation. The total time is only about 45:00, and you can fit 80:00 onto a single CD. Surely the band had other excellent songs that could have been used to fill the extra space. Also, the insert contains very little information - just a tracklist and not much more. It doesn't say what songs are remixes and what ones are originals. Why couldn't the booklet have the band's history or something like that? Another interesting note - This compilation is available with two different covers - A black gothic-looking one, and one that has a guy in a toga and a dog with fairy wings on a park bench. Not sure why there are two covers.

Final verdict? If you're into good new wave rock, this is the compilation for you. Sure, the original version of Send Me An Angel isn't here, but two versions present are as good, if not better than the original. If you're desperate for the original version, get Heartland or New Wave Hits of the Eighties Volume Eleven. This compilation is an excellent example of why eighties music was pure excellent, and modern music is junk.

If you're a fan of power metal don't miss out on this album. Vision Divine does much better the second time around. My favorite tracks in this album include Pain, Black and White, The Call, and A Taste of Goodbye. This gets a 3/5 is because they have nothing truly spectacular but it's all worth a listen. If you crave more power metal and feel you've dried the well, then give these guys a listen.

I am a big fan of Italian metal and have been writing reviews for years on bands such as Labyrinth, Skylark, Shadows of Steel, Luna Coil amoung others. The 1st Vision Divine cd was solid if unspectacular but this is just aweful. There is no passion on this release and so much of it sounds the same. DO NOT BUY THIS ONE!

Laberynth fans, you should buy this CD.......2003-04-16

Vision Divine 2nd album is all what I expected. Very similar to Laberynth's style of power metal, Vision Divine follow the same sound and lyrics they created in their first self-titled album.

Although I consider the first album superior, I really enjoyed this new songs they show to us in this album. Songs like "Send me an Angel", "Away from you" and the power metal version of A-ha's "Take on me", are just some of the excellent masterpieces contained in this album.

If you haven't heard the first album, try to buy that one first,it is a 5 star album, better than any Laberynth album. After hearing Vision Divine's first album you will feel thirsty to get your hands into "Send me an Angel".
