Album Description
"Everything Is Illuminated" is the directorial debut of actor Liev Schrieber and an adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's best-selling novel. A blend of high comedy and great tragedy, the film tells the story of a young American man, played by Elijah Wood (The Lord of The Rings trilogy), who journeys to the Ukraine to find the woman whom he believes saved his grandfather from the Nazis all those years ago.
The soundtrack features two new songs from high energy New York City based gypsy punks Gogol Bordello, including one track not on their current cd. (Note: Gogol Bordello's lead singer plays a role in "Everything Is Illuminated"). Also included are gypsy folk songs from Russia and the Ukraine by Leningrad, Arkadie Severmie, Csokolom and Tin Hat Trio. And finally, Paul Cantelon's ethnic score ties together this nicely cohesive soundtrack.
Customer Reviews:
A wacky classic.......2007-07-18
Passionate, inspired and exotic, this soundtrack truly captures the spirit of the movie as well as Safran Foer's brilliant first novel; it resonates with longing, heartbreak, and a totally unique sensibility; highly recommended.
Marvelous.......2007-06-13
This is an amazing soundtrack that highlights the two prevalent emotions in the film: hilarity and tragedy. Paul Cantelon deftly mixes an Eastern European feel with pure, gorgeous soundtrack music. Along for the ride are songs by genuinely fun and original bands. I never get tired of it. Sometimes, indeed, there are tracks I can't listen to simply because they're too sad - but then I switch to the upbeat, funny tunes, which always manage to entertain.
1. Odessa Medley: 9/10 - Enjoyable, with fun instruments. It builds up into an intricate array of instruments and melodies, and really picks up at the end, tempting you to let it sweep you along into the movie's crazy world. A great overture to the movie.
2. Leningrad, Zvezda Rok-N-Rolla: 8/10 - Oh, the drama! Leningrad is a Russian band. All of their songs on this album are crazy and fun and fit the craziness of the movie to a T. The horns are wonderful.
3. Csokolom, Amari Szi Amari: 10/10 - Superbly catchy, with that quirky, old feel dominant in the film, this song is a laidback sort of fun. It's the only song on the album not in Ukrainian, Russian, or English: it's Hungarian. This doesn't matter, however, because it fits so perfectly with the feel of the movie.
4. Leningrad, Dikiy Muzhchina: 10/10 - I LOVE this song. It's one my favorites here. The title means "Wild Man" in Russian, and it is definitely a very wild and (dare I say it again?) fun song. The lyrics really are just plain fun to sing along to, even if you don't speak Russian. You can practically feel the energy. In fact, I just now started to sing to it again...
5. Prologue/Babushka: 9.5/10 - This is where a darker mood begins to edge in. It sinks into a waltz that is more bittersweet than tragic, and then slows down to make way for a sweeping, haunting tune. Lovely.
6. Little Jonathan/The Wall: 9/10 - Playful, but once more in a bittersweet sort of way. After awhile it switches gears, swooshing up with energy, befores changing back to that haunting feeling of "Babushka" that I like to think of as simply The Past.
7. Gogol Bordello, Bublitschki: 8/10 - Time for some fun again. This instrumental piece by an immensely talented band (actually, Eugene Hutz, who plays Alex, is the lead singer of Gogol Bordello) mixes an irresistible beat with a traditional Slavic sound.
8. The Con Artists, Peter Miser, Ya-takoy: 9/10 - This definitely brings one back to the silliness of Alex in the beginning of the film. With snippets of his unbelievably hilarious dialogue and an urban beat going in the background, you'll be sucked right in.
9. Leningrad, Malen'kiy Mal'chik: 9/10 - Great fun! Leningrad never fails to entertain with this lazy collection of horns and vocals.
10. Tin Hat Trio, Fear of the South: 8/10 - Here's a piece to relax to. It's lighthearted and fresh.
11.Paul Cantelon, River of Collections: 9/10 - With breathy strings, "River of Collections" urges you quietly but with instistence along the river of The Past.
12. Paul Cantelon, Tank Graveyard/Valse de Suzana/Dee-yed: 9.5/10 - Here is the tragedy I've been referring to. It's sad. Almost unbearably so. It sweeps you up in the conflict of the characters, teasing you with peaks at the truth before fading back into the darkness.
13. Paul Cantelon, Sunflowers: 10/10 - Ukrainian, I believe. Haunting, with strong vocals that cast a spell.
14. Paul Cantelon, War Is Love/eta-Ya: 9.5/10 - It begins with lazy simplicity, but toward the end bursts into a powerful and urgent message.
15. Paul Cantelon, Trachimbrod/Ressurection/Requiem: 10/10 - Simply beautiful. About halfway through, the urgency of the previous tracks finally builds up for the climax, whooshing over you bitterly, sadly, and with almost a sense of determination. Again, it's tragic. You don't hear the lightheartedness of previous tracks, but the slight nudging of a past that doesn't want to haunt: it just wants to resolve itself. To exist.
16. Paul Cantelon, Inside-Out: 10/10 - And it does resolve itself. Here is another bittersweet piece. But this time, it carries a touch of enlightenment (illumination?) with it.
17. Gogol Bordello, Start Wearing Purple: 10/10 - This was the absolutely most perfect song the movie could have ended with. It switches the film seamlessly back into that feel of silly hilarity, single-handedly managing to leave the audience uplifted - a sore necessity for such a partly bleak film!
Overall, one of my favorite soundtracks out there. Whether you've seen the (remarkable) movie or not, get this! It is gorgeous, beautiful, fantastic, powerful, uplifting, and itching to tell you something you've known all your life but just can't quite grasp. In short, a brilliant piece of work.
music.......2007-06-02
does anyone know who sings the last song that plays on the movie trailer?
Interesting.......2007-03-18
Elijah Wood was surprising in his portrayal of the main charecter, who is a bit of a "nebish" or dweeb, and a collector of multitudenous often unthinkable items. His search of his family's past which takes him to the Ukraine, and the people he meets are
funny, amusing and often very moving. It's got a shocking thread to it,
but not without humor. I also liked the surprise ending. The music was great!
Should have won an Academy Award!!!.......2007-03-15
Funny, insightful, emotionally a rolling coaster and a must see.

Hooray for Hollywood!.......2007-07-22
I bought this CD to go with an Academy Awards/Hollywood Walk-of-Fame theme party that I did for work. It really lent that dramatic mood that I was looking for to usher in the theme as people entered that room on the first day after it was decorated.
Please also see my review for the CD Beautiful Hollywood.
Eh, It's Okay.......2007-04-24
For those that purchase soundtrack collages to have a variety of songs and themes, then this is good for you. Unfortunately, these tracks didn't have the signature Erich Kunzel version of the songs as he had on other soundtrack mix CDs. It was more like just that, a mix CD of different soundtracks and scores. However, it was a good buy in the fact that the tracks chosen had excellent sound quality and a sense of harmony.
We really enjoyed hearing all of the old movie themes.......2005-09-30
we put this CD in on a long road trip. We played a guessing game as to which one knew the movie. The music was excellent.
Outstanding Film Music.......2005-09-10
This is an outstanding collection of film music. The sound is qulity is very good. The selections cover a good range from various film genres and time periods. I like this CD.
An Interesting and Gratifying Volume 1.......2005-08-22
Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops' interpretation of film scores on this first tribute to Hollywood is somewhat a mixed bag. A SUMMER PLACE was beautifully executed and true to the nature of this sensitive film that was made during a time of innocence. The BEN HUR, CAPTAIN BLOOD and OUT OF AFRICA selections were good. The interpretation of GOLDFINGER was a rather bizarre and blatantly bombastic exercise in overkill. This is a good CD for me because of the A SUMMER PLACE selection.

Cinema Serenade 2: The Golden Age is the sequel to Itzhak Perlman's popular album of movie themes performed with soundtrack composer John Williams. Unlike its predecessor, this disc focuses on classic cinema themes and features the Boston Pops Orchestra, not the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The Laura theme, as well as Max Steiner's Now Voyager and Miklós Rózsa's Lost Weekend themes, sound lush and romantic in Perlman's lyrical hands. The traditional Irish jig "The Quiet Man" is the disc's most upbeat moment, while the unforgettable Gone with the Wind theme is its most memorable. These are timeless, dreamy compositions, though not necessarily the most uplifting. If you're looking for something cinematic to get your heart racing, check out Ricardo Chailly's recording of Shostakovich's film scores or even Leopold Stokowski's classic work on Fantasia. --Jason Verlinde

I cannot review the product which I know is great , as I was billed for it, but never received it.
Perlman, Williams reunite in wonderful Serenade sequel.......2003-12-04
With the success of Cinema Serenade, conductor John Williams and violinist Itzhak Perlman reunited to record another collection of classic movie themes. Performed this time by the Boston Pops Orchestra, the music of Cinema Serenade 2: The Golden Age harkens back to the days of stars such as Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn, Ray Milland and Clark Gable.
The 12 selections include themes by Hollywood legends Max Steiner, Miklos Rozsa and Erich Wolfgang Korngold (whose son George would later produce several of composer/conductor Williams' scores for Varese Sarabande Records). Cinema Serenade 2 presents beautiful arrangements of Steiner's themes for Now, Voyager and Gone With The Wind, Korngold's love theme from The Adventures of Robin Hood, Charlie Chaplin's lovely Modern Times and "St Patrick's Day," a traditional Irish song from the John Wayne classic The Quiet Man.
Since I consider myself to be a charter member of The Rick Blaine Society of Rank Sentimentalists, I'd have to say my favorite tracks on this album are Herman Hupfeld's timeless "As Time Goes By" from 1942's Casablanca and Victor Young's "My Foolish Heart" (from the 1949 film of the same title). It was while I was listening to the radio (on the late WTMI 93.1 FM classical station) that the DJ played "As Time Goes By" and I discovered this recording of mostly lyrical themes; I listened to Perlman's haunting violin solos and the Boston Pops' bravura performance and nearly wept. I, of course, bought this CD the next day and it's now one of my favorites.
For fans of Itzhak Perlman, John Williams or film music in general, both of the Cinema Serenade CDs are a treasure trove of beautiful and memory-stirring themes.
Some of the most beautiful music you'll ever hear.......2001-06-15
This is one of the most beautiful CDs I've ever heard. The selections are musically much richer than Cinema Serenade I. In particular, Sir William Walton's music from Henry V, Korngold's music from Robin Hood, and Newman's music from Wuthering Heights are standouts. The Korngold is my favorite, with several themes from the picture packed into a short love scene lifted straight from the movie. The arrangements on this album are stunningly lush, especially those by Williams. His opening chords from The Uninvited are terrific harmonically.
Don't compare it to Cinema Serenade 1.......2000-01-24
Itzhak Perlman is still considered by me the best violinist alive today. His techiniques are so impressable and heartouching and nobody can contest that. The idea of this CD was wonderful, although the selections of the musics aren't so good than in Cinema Serenade 1. But anyway, if you want to listen musics that worldwide the people emotioned with, buy this CD, but don't fall in the temptation to compare it to the first one.
I can't stop listening to this CD...........1999-10-03
All of those lush movie themes are greatly compiled on this CD. I especially liked Laura and Stella by Starlight. After listening to this, you will want to go out and buy/rent these great old movies!

Unwind with this..........2007-03-26
Smooth, sensous, soothing, and sultry. A couple of cuts a little on the "loungy" side but overall this is an excellent CD that delivers exactly what you would expect from the title. The quality of this stuff is definitely a cut above a lot of the other budda-lounge wannabes.
A maverick New Age/Eastern hybrid classic!.......2005-03-25
I am absolutely taken into the beauty and harmony that is the album "Hotel Tara". I first heard this at an independent CD store recently and after finding out who it was, I instantly bought the new album and I am proud of my choice of buying it. This album reminds me very strongly of the Earthtone collection series from years ago. After the apparent and unfortunate demise of the Earthtone label, Sequoia Records seems to have taken the torch and "Hotel Tara" is a powerful CD. "Apollo 13" is a highly eclectic track that incorporates voice effects of a NASA space mission with a gorgeous jazz/New Age groove. "Govinda Hari" is an electrifying song with haunting Eastern Indian voices and a very entrancing melody. This is such a wonderful CD and I highly recommend this.
Blissful Eastern Chill.......2005-03-10
Nothing less than superb ! This new titles from Sequoia Groove is a blissful voyage into the very best of Eastern influenced downtempo chill-out music. A provacative follow up to Sequoia's Buddha Lounge series. This album really transports the listener into some very exoctic and sensuous musical landscapes. I especially love the Jaya Lakshmi track "Govinda Hari" and "Apollo 13" by Joe Werineck which incorporates actual original recordings from the space mission into a lushly textured background of slow and sultry electonica. This is a great addition to any downtempo musical collection. If you like, Buddha Bar or Hotel De Costa you will love Hotel Tara.
The Ultimate Music for Sacred Lovers.......2005-02-10
David & Steve Gordon have done it again ! Just when you thought it could'nt get any better, these musical visionaries deepen the mix even further. Hotel Tara bills itself as "The Intimate Side of Buddha Lounge" and it certainly delivers on that promise. This is an exotic and enticing blend of traditional Eastern music with the very best that Western downtempo-electronica has to offer, featuring an superlative assortment of the very best Sequoia artists and some absolutely alluring new artists. Likely the most noteable being the lead track "L'Heure Verte/The Green Hour"from Artemisia, the new Steve Gordon solo project with it's distinctive tabla beat, exquisite tamboura, sensuous guitar and luminous vocals provided by Jaya Lakshmi whose "Govinda Hari" also graces the album. David Gordon's new solo track "Floating" is also fantastic, melding chill-out and smooth jazz effortlessly into this delightfully transcendent tune. My wife and I have now found our new favorite CD for our intimate encounters and Tantra sessions. These Sequoia Groove titles just keep getting better and better and this one is perfect suited for the the Sacred Lover. Keep them coming. Absolutely delightful.

Album Description
Welcome back to the exclusive resort where your soul can unwind and you can replenish body, mind and spirit. Come on in, take up residence and chill-out to a sensuous new set of global grooves with the perfect blend of entrancing rhythms, mystical vocals and an exotic array of ethnic instruments from the world's best sonic mixologists. Create a hip atmosphere with this luscious non-stop mix of the freshest sounds around, carefully handpicked by our award-winning DJs, the Gordon Brothers (Buddha-Lounge, Café de Luna). Featured global lounge mystics include: Achillea, Marcator, Jens Gad, Peter Mergener The Moontrane Conductors, Hands Upon Black Earth, Steve Gordon, Win Meyerson, Opera-to-Relax and Jaya Lakshmi. Kick back and settle in for a magical ride where ancient cultures and modern beats combine into an enticing musical brew. Ideal for yoga and the perfect background for entertaining or just relaxing at home.
Dubbed the "Intimate Side of Buddha Lounge," Sequoia Groove's "Hotel Tara" series echoes the latter's proclivity for high quality global grooves, only with the mellowness factor increased tenfold. David & Steve Gordon, resident mixmasters on this ambient excursion, cherry-picked a simply luscious collection down-tempo gems for your lounging pleasure, chilled to the point of transcendent bliss. The opening track, "Navajo" from Jens Gad is a prime example of what you can expect across the board - sensual rhythms, a sea of fluid synthesizers and sublime melodies that bubble up here and there with the effervescence of club soda. Achillea's "Shears from Scar" evokes a sunrise over the beaches of Ibiza and Win Meyerson's "Samsara" finds a balance between corner jazz club chic and Asian mysticism. Great addition to the series! An excellent compilation to do just about anything while listening!.......2006-09-15
This album is now a favorite of mine. The Gordon Brothers have done it again! When they say the rhythms are entrancing, they forgot to mention infectious. You get grooving in that other world dimension of their musical tasty treats, and it leaves you wanting to go back for more and play it again. There are so many great tracks on this album that I could go into each one, but my favorites have to be the following. Shears from Scar by Achillea, which echoes a distant place and time filling the room with the cry of sea birds, a steady beat, and Horlych's beautifully bequeathing voice recalling the tale of an ancient Viking burial find and the woman for whom once was. Next, The Temple by Marcator, which brings a temporal melody with temple bells, ancient instruments and whispered prayers. The Gordon Brothers have a catchy remix in Hunab Ku Transmitter, where they have woven together a combination of space twang, electric guitar, and percussion with their inspired chanting, to bring forth a transmission of a time and place of the past to the present. I really liked Steve's track, Vermillion Passage. The xylophone, electric guitar and a solid drum beat build to a "striding on down the by-way of life" feel, then blazes a musical trail of red dust as it goes on down the road. My most favorite track is Samsara by Win Meyerson. Win's marvelous piano glides with the soaring violin and vocals of Lili Haydn, in a cool samba with Middle-eastern riffs. The blend is a soaring right-on musical gift. The somba is impossible to not at least sway through, and you want to anyway, because this track is so beautiful. I enjoyed Hotel Tara #1, but #2 soars ahead of it. An excellent compilation to do just about anything while listening!
I love Hotel Tara 2.......2006-07-25
This CD is fantastic! Great mellow down-tempo chillout. It completely transports me to a serenely relaxing place and worked like a charm when I put it on at a recent dinner party I threw. This is a really fine compilation. I love it!

Sexy, seductive, soothing ethereal electronica.
Great background music for chilling, a late night drive, or, well, you know. :)
The Gordon Brothers do it again; another flawless mix of global beats that will lift you up into the clouds and out of your daily stress.

The name Tara MacLean might give cause to wonder if she is some sort of Sarah McLachlan parody. The truth is not too far off. They are both singer-songwriters-pianists from eastern Canada and MacLean enjoyed some left-of-the-limelight attention during the Lilith Fair. But beyond these immediate factoids, the comparisons to McLachlan end. Musically, Passenger has more in common with Jewel's albums. While Jewel turned her street-musician urchin experience into lyrical source material, MacLean turns to her survival of a rather unusual and not entirely pleasant upbringing by her Wiccan-turned-born-again-Christian parents for inspiration. Just as Jewel's lyrical triteness alienates the pragmatic, the New Age undercurrents in MacLean's album, charged with velvety-soft synths and the obligatory trip-hop rhythms, runs the same risk of leaving a syrupy taste. However, some people like their music with a cherry on top, even when the subject matter is bitter; for those, this album will satisfy. For a truly impressive collection in this arena, Kendall Payne's debut cannot be recommended enough. --Beth Massa

If you havent experienced Tara, you havent experienced Beauty.......2005-12-08
This is one of the most beautifull albums from the canadians singer/songwritters genre, Tara Maclean provides the rigth atmosphere for everything that represents the brigth and at the same time melancholic side of life, love, and introspection, this young composer brings togheter all kind of influences musical and not musical, folk, poetry and graphic art wich is always included into sleeves artwork and cds booklet along with little pieces from famous novels, "if i fall" is one of my fave songs as well "settling" wich is incredibly touching, "Poor Boy" is another awesome track, i recommed also "silence" her debut album and "if you seeme" EP as well.
Tara has receintly announced that two new released are in process currently, her third solo album and a second release for Shaye, i hope they dont took that long

Thoughtful and moving..........2004-07-21
I like songs that make you think beyond just the words. Songs that you have to *really* listen to in order to get the full meaning. Tara MacLean's songs do just that.
I first heard of her from the television show "Due South" which featured many different kinds of music. The song touched me and I looked in the credits to see who the artist was. Unable to find out anything about her, I was glad to see her song "Holy Tears" featured on the television soundtrack.
On a trip to Canada, I found her first CD Silence and was blown away. Just recently I found Passenger. This one just takes the journey one step further.
I love the angst, the joy and the mystery in each of her songs. Yes, it is music to relax to, but it also opens up your mind to thoughts you might ordinarly just brush away.
ALthough the album can sometimes be hard to find, it is well worth the search.
A Lighter Shade of Gael.......2004-06-12
I bought this CD for two simple reasons, it was cheap ($2.00 at the used record store) and Tara is cute (at least on the front of the CD cover she is). Oh yeah, and her Scottish name evoked hopes of finding another Sarah or Loreena or something along those lines. O.K. so three reasons, but still a pretty shallow excuse for buying a CD. As it turns out it wasn't that bad of an investment. The songs are a little sappy and sentimental but Tara has a pretty voice that is only occassionaly eclipsed by the drum machine that pounds through every song like a jackhammer breaking up the sidewalk in front of your house at 6:00 A.M. on a Saturday morning. This set is nice and unchallenging, but I have been listening to the thing for a few days now and it has been good background music to my life at the moment. That is, aside for that pesky drum machine. The liner notes read like a page from the Tori Amos "How to say thank you in interesting and unintelligible ways so that everybody knows they aren't in on the joke" instructional pamphlet, but whose doesn't any more. This is a nice CD. It could have done with being a little less nice, but there you have it. The only truly exceptional song on the thing, and the one I anticipate through the entire playing is the hidden track #13 that is very raw and primal with lots of humming and hollering (and, yes, it too features the dreaded drum machine). If Tara could channel the type of energy that went into this song into her regular stuff, I think her music would be quite a bit better, or at least quite a bit more dangerous.
oh yeah.......2004-03-21
Tara MacLean's voice is like a dove. Pure and beautiful. Her songs are different, touching and vibrant. I love 'Jericho', 'Jordan' and 'Blinded'. 'If I Fall' is Tara MacLean's single and when I first heard it back when it came out, I was jumping up and down but the name never came up. I searched and searched and eventually forgot completely about it. About 2 years later...there it was again, that SONG! I had to know who it was, I asked a girl in my class who sang the song and she told me 'Tara MacLean, I don't know anything else by her...' but I told her I didn't care and rushed out to the CD store. Bought it, listened to it, never left the CD player. If you want a female singer with strength, power and honesty, get Tara MacLean.
Great CD.......2004-01-16
I first discovered Tara McClean as an opening act for Lisa Loeb in 1997 at the Chicago House of Blues. I was blown away by her live performance as I had previously never heard of her. She is a poetic songwriter, lyricist, and vocalist. She was accompanied onstage by a single musician playing acoustic guitar and I was just enchanted by her soulful songs. This CD is a favorie among my collection.

Product Description
From the Philip Glass Recording Archive Vol. 1 represents the first release by Orange Mountain Music from the extensive archive of recordings made in the last 40 years of Philip Glass' recording career. Theater Music Vol. 1 features two ravishingly beautiful works from the world of theater: the instrumental suite from Glass' 2003 chamber opera is highlighted by eastern and western instrumentation in one of Glass' most original scores. In the Summer House is music composed for the revival of the 1953 Bowles play. Both these scres bring a rare chance to hear one of the most important theater composers of our time in unknown scores.
Customer Reviews:
An unremarkable curiosity.......2007-07-30
Philip Glass' musical contribution to the stage has been significant. He has composed several operas, film scores and dance pieces. So in that regard, a series dedicated to Glass theater works certainly makes sense. What doesn't make sense is to launch such a series with two unknown, lackadaisical suites containing hardly any of the musical traits (recurring arpeggiations, surging momentum, etc.) for which Glass became known.
The first suite, 'The Sound of a Voice', dates from 2003 and is scored for violin, cello, flute, pipa (a plucked instrument having origins in China) and percussion. In this suite (assembled from an opera), Glass blends Eastern and Western influences; the incorporation of the pipa gives the work an Asiatic feel. There are some endearing moments, but the work seems a bit disjointed, and most of the themes themselves are rather forgettable. It should be noted there are several audible coughs in the recording of this work.
The second suite, 'In the Summer House', dates from 1993 and is scored for violin and cello. The eighteen movements of this suite last about a minute and a half each, so it is somewhat difficult for the listener to become particularly engrossed in any one movement. Given the economical orchestration, and short movement duration, I was looking for something to grab my attention from a melodic or rhythmic standpoint. Unfortunately, while this music contains a longing quality that is appealing, no one part of the suite jumped out at me as being melodically or rythmically outstanding.
There is nothing terrible here, but there is not anything remarkable here either. I am hopeful that future releases in this series will contain more interesting musical material, and that the background noise heard in 'The Sound of a Voice' will be cleaned up (or maybe the title should be changed to 'The Sound of a Voice and a Cough' - sorry, I could not resist that one). Actually, I find some moments in that suite to be interesting, and the use of Eastern ideas is somewhat refreshing; there is just too much unmemorable material in between the interesting sections.
If you a serious Glass admirer (i.e., me), you will probably find a couple of enjoyable moments here. But if you are a casual Glass fan, you can probably skip this one (but do be sure to acquire the excellent Philip Glass: The Concerto Project, Vol. 1, if you have not done so already).

WOW.......2005-11-18
I know that WOW is kind of a small word but this CD ROCKS! I have loved queen for years. I originally bought this CD for my 10 year old son who took up the violin this year and who loves queen as much as I do but it quickly became mine. I've heard some pretty bad imitations, remakes, and ripoffs. I can honestly say that this CD is none of the above. You get 10 of Queens best. 1) Killer Queen, 2) Bohemian Rhapsody, 3) We Are The Champions, 4) We WIll Rock You, which happens to be my favorite on this disk, 5)Fat Bottomed Girls, 6)Crazy Little Thing Called Love, 7) Somebody To Love, 8) Play The Game, 9) You're My Bext Friend, 10) Another One Bites The Dust. The only downside to this disk is that they left out about a hundred other songs. I sincerely hope that The String Quartet comes out with a volume 2, but why stop there. They could go on forever with just Queen Classics.
Do yourself a favor. If you like Queen and Classical Music BUY THIS CD. You won't be sorry.
YES!!!!.......2005-06-05
Two words: Bohemian Rahpsody.
THey could have released a CD with only this song and I would have bought/borrowed/stolen it to get it. This song is definitely a highlight, but don't stop there, since the rest of the CD will make you want to play it over and over again.
If you've been thinking about buying a String Quartet Tribute, but don't know which to buy, I would buy this one, without a doubt.

Customer Reviews:
Dull Epics.......2006-09-27
EPICS is plagued by the muddled sound of TELARC's recordings. I noticed this trend beginning with TELARC's Hollywood's Greatest Hits, Vol. 2. The recoding seems flat. Also, this recording is a bit bombastic and just not representative of the original scores. The Suite from Gladiator is a good case in point. It glosses right over the basic themes presented in the film with an annoying nonce lance.
Very Disappointing .......2006-09-27
EPICS is very disappointing. It is nowhere up to the usual standards of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. The recordings are harsh and just too showy. There is no heart, only might and if these are supposed to be epics, what is MINORITY REPORT doing there?
Chilling versions of the best scores ever written.......2004-04-24
This cd is an essential for any person that particularly enjoys the score in films. Epics is a full length cd containing 14 songs performed by the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra under Erich Kunzel.
Usually, I am weary of cds that come out with songs from movies that aren't the original recordings, but I have to say there should be no worries with this cd. The songs remain exactly the same in tempo and sound as you hear them in the movies.
The choices for this cd was amazing. Every song that you hear are the songs that make the movie it is in, most often giving you chills and goosebumps as the music encompasses you into the movie (like what happened to me when I saw Lord of the Rings). From the Theme from 2001: a Space Oddysey to Star Wars: Attack of the Clones to Lord of the Rings, these songs are performed beautifully with a clear and crisp sound.
I am hoping for an Epics II to be released someday, but in the meantime, check this out, you will NOT be dissappointed!
