This is even worse on CD without the video, if that is possible.......2006-02-01
I reviewed the companion dvd to this with the same name. Here it is: This has been available in the UK for months now and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this when it became region 1. The description sounded like something that I wanted to see and hear. I thought it would be something like VH1's "Behind The Music". How wrong I was. This has interviews with music critics and studio musicians that remain unknowns, at least here in the states. No interviews with anyone associated with the band. Just a bunch of brits giving their opinion of what they liked and disliked about each of Thin Lizzy's albums. Why did they stop at Thunder & Lightning and not discuss the "Life" album??? The unreleased stuff is just snipets from the '83 show at the Regal or the '81 show from Rockpalast or from the Live & Dangerous film. Nothing new nor unrelaesed. Funny how they are talking about the classic line-up of Gorham and Robertson while showing clips with Snowy White, John Sykes, or Gary Moore instead. Sad. They rated the albums in order of release on a 5 star system and their thoughts on albums couldn't have been more different than mine. Chinatown is a 5 star record and I believe it received a 2 or 3. Same goes for "Johnny the Fox". Any true Lizzy fan will argue about their favorite albums, songs, and players. That is the fun of being a fan of a band with a discography as vast as Lizzy's. I might as well have set the cameras up and had me and my friends discuss the same topic at a bar. It would be just as entertaining if not more. Hey, that gives me an idea......
That info just lets you know how bad the overall program is. Now take away the video where you are now left with just an average audio recording. Horrific! You can't understand these guys with their English accents nor the up and down volume of interview, song, demonstration. Don't walk but run away from this garbage. What a way to try and ruin all that Phil and the boys worked hard for those years. Travesty!
