Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Great CD for a Great Cause.......2005-01-09

In case some of you knuckleheads don't know, Jason Becker was one of the greatest if not the greatest up and comming guitar players before he was sadly disabled by Lou Gherrig's disease. Some of the stuff on his CD Perpetual Burn and some of his songs covered on this CD were composed and played when he was 16-17 years old.
This CD was created as a tribute to his music and as a benefit for Jason's battle with the illness, which, by many standards, he is winning. Jason was given 3-5 year to live, and this was 16 years ago.
His playing, his courage, and his positive outlook on life diserve the greatest respect and admiration and should stand above all other superficial things such as who plays what on this CD and how popular the artists are, or who is the better player on this album.
This is a great CD, played by some great guitar players, and pays tribute and benefit to one of the greatest players.
Go buy it, and learn something not only about guitar playing, but life as well.

4 out of 5 stars Another Great Tribute Album.......2004-07-16

Well as to the complaint above about having the greatest guitarists playing on this cd, to be honest this isn't a compilation of guitar gods, its a tribute to Jason Becker. These artists that played on the CD did it because of their respect and maybe compassion for Jason, which i feel means a lot since they arent really getting paid for it as well.
Anyway this is a pretty good albbum. I prefered WITW 1 more though. Hmm, sorta like a 'shred' cd but too bad i a few of the other artists i liked werent on this but overall i'd give it 4 stars. BUY THIS CD! It will help out Jason a lot.

1 out of 5 stars Nothing mind blowing on this........2003-07-10

I have listened to this CD 3 times now and cannot find anything different to it to what I have heard in the past. The rock tracks on the CD are good, but the guitar compositions have nothing exciting about them. Vinnie Moore and Tony Macalpine were playing a lot of this type of material nearly 20 years ago and to be frank I would rather listen to their old albums then this hyped up rubbish.

2 out of 5 stars This CD is okay but I wouldn't say great........2003-06-23

If these are some of the 'best guitarists around of the moment', then I only wish we could go back to the Seventies/Eighties. Like the first review, there isn't exactly anything of highlighted originality going on here. Unless your knowledge of guitaring is limited that is.

3 out of 5 stars great stuff.......2003-05-24

don't wright revieuws if you don't know what your talking about!
you can give your opnion about it if you like it or not, but don't say that these guys can't play and just immitate one and another!
some great players from around the world will be known trough this record.
if your knowledge about guitarists goes no further than steve vai and marty friedman (great players)... than shut-up.
this is an excelent compilation of top-musicians and a perfect opportunity to get into the instrumental wolrd of guitarmusic.
i personnaly recoment david valdes's cd: paradise lost and
milan polak's cd : guitar 2001 as my favorites.
all instrumental high performances!
buy this cd and choose your own favorite artist and buy their cd's for they are all great players!
