A ferociously amazing album.......2006-09-21
'The Inhuman Aberration' exudes with an explosive amount of energy and ferocity that characterises Urkraft's formidable sound. Since their debut 'Eternal Cosmic Slaughter' Urkraft have refined their unmistakeably severe sound. Tracks such as 'Come No Tomorrow' and 'The Inhuman Aberration' spill over with a sense of sheer sophistication and brutal riffs that form a truly visionary album. If you've never heard this band before you should buy 'The Inhuman Aberration' for a dose of masterful Danish ferocity.

a head-on collision of thrash and melodic death.......2007-02-05
Urkraft sounds like a head-on collision between Slayer and Soilwork. there are great keyboard interludes and everything mixes together. these guys have a great future and I hope they come out with a new album.
Killer CD.......2006-12-20
These guys kind of remind me of Dew Scented meets Soilwork. Really tight death metal feel mixed with some melodic keyboards. Definately above par release in an era dominated by the New England metal-core sound. Hopefully these guys will get some attention.

Customer Reviews:
One of my all-time favorite CDs.......2004-10-23
This album is not only the best Thyrfing album, this album is the best viking metal album period. This album has quickly become one of my all-time favorite albums. There is not a song on here I do not like.
The clean-sung vocals on Mjolner and Urkraft, the acoustic interludes near the end of Home Again, and the powerful beginning of Jord are my personal favorite parts of the album. However, every song is excellent and make this album worth every penny you will spend.
If its possible, I would try to get the version with the bonus track "Over the Hills and Far Away." Its a cover that is entirely clean-sung, and so it doesn't really sound like anything else on the album. It makes for a good listen, though.
By the numbers black metal.......2004-02-11
Not content with allowing the prog metal bands to hog the pomp fantasy market, Thyrfing steps up to the plate with their own Celtic inspired mayhem. To be blunt, however, the sprightly melodies employed here don't mesh well with the attempted black metal that dominates the disc. Not only that, but there doesn't seem to be much that sticks to the cranium. Thyrfing craft a professional effort, both in sound and packaging quality, but, sad to say, genericism rules here.
Mjolner and Urkraft says it all.......2003-05-29
I wouldn't even have cared if all the other songs on the cd were [bad], Mjolner and Urkraft are absolutley excellent! I would reccomend this cd to any black/viking metal fan, even some people who dont like black metal can appreciate their music.
Urkraft!!.......2003-02-17
I don't know what does this word mean in Swedish, but in German it resembles to 'Ancient power' and that's exactly what you get for this album. I can best describe the music as viking-epic-metal and very good performed. I will have to disagree with this guy Mettier(If you can't understand personal music styles, man ,don't bother writing your opinion in public!!).
Anyway, for 'Urkraft':
Comlexity, VARIETY and Quality are the words that best describe the rifs. All best performed by guitars and bass, beautifully accompanied by Viking-style synthesizers and true Viking voices! Drums are very well adjusted to the variety of the tempos, often odd timed and in this aspect, technical. Don't expect speedmetal-velocities here, but the rythm truly dominates, and that's what Sweden is wordwide known for. Some (actually all)odd timing, great rythm songs in this album will get you up and jumping, sticking to the sound for weeks. I would though, like to listen to just a little more technical stuff from Thyring, that would be surely awesome!!!(maybe the newest albums..)
The lyrics get you back to the glorius Northmen time.
I once again have to mention the variety of the songs. You get a 60(yes sixty)-minute-CD that will not bore you. But you have to listen to it carefully at first.
All in all, these guys are definately creative (all 6 members contribute to song's writing and music!)and have a personal style.
Thyrfing's Best Release, definatory Viking Metal.......2002-07-28
The opening track "Mjolner" was what hooked me on this great album by this awesome band. Thyrfing's previous releases have been plagued by often cheesy sounding synth and uninspiring vocals. Till now.
The track "Mjolner" starts with the sounds of hammering and anvils, assumedly being the forging of Mjolner (Thor's hammer) by the dwarven smiths...then the deliciously powerful edgy riffing begins with some great black metal vocal screams, very vikingesque swedish screaming. Then the best part is when the very cool melodic sounding chorus chanting comes in, I would liken it to "Odin Owns Ye All" era Einherjer, except with a harder, tighter edge.
Thyrfing has created a distinctive, unique sound on this release, making this an essential albulm along with Einherjer's "Odin Owns Ye All" and Amon Amarth's "The Avenger" for definatory Viking Metal listening.
The melodic vocal choruses, inspiring vocals, and expert musicianship including well moderated synth makes this highly reccomended!
