Massive classic power metal with an early Fates Warning feel. Special double cd limited edition (1500 copies only) "beware" is finally delievered into the hands of massacre records. it has turned out to be a very melodic, very catchy and "raw" ! An excellent pure power metal band, Steel Prophet toiled in semi-obscurity for several years before the release Dark Hallucinations in 1999, which won the band critical acclaim. The band mixes an early Fates Warninginfluence with a more aggressive power metal base to good effect. Vocalist Rick Mythsiasin frequently reminds one of Bruce Dickinson (occasionally frighteningly so) while at other times he sounds a bit like John Cyriis of Agent Steel. The succeeding albums since Hallucinations follow a similar path, both in style and in quality of music. Steel Prophet still hasn't reached the level of fame that they perhaps deserve, at least partly due to their being American and playing a style of metal that is currently more in vogue in Europe.

Be Realistic.......2006-04-23

After hearing a few of his songs, i realize his tune may be nice to hear. But still first of all this is nothing like indian music, except for the instruments and language. Also how many people who listen to this speak panjabi(not many) becuase those who do are usually older. HOw many people know what mundian to bach ke means without reading beware of the boys? And the music is almost pure panjabi. Not too many right. NOw it is nice to listen to and does have a nice beat, so it is a good buy.

I first heard the track Beware (mudian tu bach ke) and thought great track and pmc was just a one hit wonder anyway i gave the album a try! All the tracks were great PMC's Fusion with indian beats mixed with western tracks sounds great tracks like galla gori and jatt hogya sharabi are some of my favourites!

I have loved watching movies like Bend it Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice. I fell in love with the music from those movies and came across this CD. I really like it and many of my friends have asked what CD I am listening to because they like it too.

I've purchased soundtracks to 'Monsoon Wedding,' 'Bend It Like Beckham,' and 'Balle Balle Amritsar to LA,' plus have 'Bhangra Fever' lodged on my wish list. All this was enough to have amazon's recommendation technology keep throwing 'Beware' at me. So, I'm more of a soundtrack guy, and definitely haven't arrived here at Panjabi MC like others may have (through, for example, a Jay-Z connection). Regardless, 'Beware' has been a real treat so far, even if I'm a bit of a square regarding hip-hop. The beats here are very catchy, especially the great bass lines on tunes like 'Soundz of the Des' and both mixes of 'Beware of the Boys.'

If you're hooked on Bollywood and its catchy riffs, you can do a lot worse then adding 'Beware' to your collection.

the song "Ghalia Gurian" is worth the price of purchase alone - A great down tempo song with tablas, flute, guitar and i think accordian? (not sure) and a wailing female vocalist - check it out. About half good and the rest merely interesting, but if your musical tastes run toward exploratory then this is a must have.

This is a great collection of some classic Bruce bits and a lot of lesser known and obscure recordings. If you're a Bruce fan and know his schtick--and you're fairly well-versed in Yiddish--pick up this set. If you're new to Bruce, don't start here. The sound quality varies wildly, Bruce's references are even more arcane than usual--well, this is for aficionados. Newcomers should pick up Bruce's classic (and cleanly produced) Fantasy albums, notably: The Sick Humor of Lenny Bruce, Togetherness, and American. Once you've absorbed these discs (with a copy of "Joys of Yiddish" nearby), then move to the Carnegie Hall Concert, and then...to this multidisc set.

Remember the old story about the old actor famous for his death scenes?
"Dying," he explained to a younger acolyte, "is easy. It's comedy that's hard."
Comedy may be hard, but anyone can do it. But none ever did it as well as Lenny Bruce.
The funny man died of an overdose, at age 41, nearly 39 years go, but his legacy lives on. It's a life and legacy of laughter, and it's ripe for rediscovery.
Now, a generation who never have heard of Bruce, for those who only know him from Bob Fosse's smoky (but well intentioned) bio-flick, for those who glance at an image of Bruce and think "Castro," can grasp one of the most inventive and prismatic talents of the last century in a set of rare recordings.
"Lenny Bruce: Let the Buyer Beware" is a six-CD compendium of Bruce's best material, lovingly compiled by producer Hal Willner and Bruce's daughter
Kitty. More than half has never been heard before, and a great many variants and alternate riffs of his most well-known material has been anthologized here. His debut on Arthur
Godfrey's show is here, as well as the classic routines about Father Flotsky (a parody of Warner Brothers prison flicks), the Palladium (about an American comic dying on an
English stage), as well as (real) taped phone calls to his lawyers.
Horribly illustrated is his descent into near madness, not through drugs or degenerate lifestyle, but through the systematic persecution by the U.S. government. In
America during the '50s and '60s, you could make jokes about anything, except, maybe, Jesus Christ, Milton Berle and Eleanor Roosevelt. Sacrosanct bastions were not to be
made fun of, and especially not by an outsider, someone different, someone who was not a Christian. Bruce was a Jewish comic, steeped in the tradition, using the attitude and the
language as a position to observe the mores and folkways of mid-century American life.
It's not a stretch to see his persecution by the legal system of our country as another
blatant example of anti-Semitism, a suppression of truth and, worst of all, an illustration of
the stupidity and lack of humor inherent in a repressive government.
Bruce's take on sexuality was summed up in his observation that if the human body
was dirty, the fault lay with the manufacturer. He saw religion as a greedy profession, a
logical extension of an industrial complex to control reason and money. Unfortunately,
and fatally, Bruce believed in our government and legal system.
Like a witty Thomas Paine, Bruce was a true patriot when it came to freedom of
expression. Without Bruce there would be no Bill Maher, no South Park, no Jon Stewart,
and considerably less freedoms in general --- not only in speech, but also in equality
between races and genders. He was one of the first to use humor to attack America's
prejudice against African Americans, gays and all of the non-religious, non-republican
disenfranchised people in America.
Yet one man's patriot is another man's traitor. Bruce was vilified by the press and
by main stream contemporaries as sick, twisted and dirty.
But it's not only Bruce's material, certainly genius and of an equal to Jonathan
Swift or Mark Twain, but his performance style and presentational choices that this new
collection celebrates. He may not have been the first monologist who didn't use the "A
priest and a rabbi walk into a bar ..." joke catalogs, and certainly he had extended parables
and parodies that could be termed as "jokes." Yet his basic presentation was something
very new and different.
Rather than a standard set with the identical jokes, pauses and ad-libs for each
show, Bruce had an uncanny ability to listen ---- not only to his audience (as all performers
must), but he had the uncanny knack of being able to listen to himself. Like a brilliant jazz
musician, he could circle around a motif or a joke, listening to the sound and sense,
backing off, teasing the story, until the timing was exactly right to blast into the theme or
punchline.
In the commemorative hardcover book that accompanies Let the Buyer Beware,
there are a number of essays and appreciations of Bruce, but none so telling as a single
page by his daughter. "His truths were based on our most coveted lies," she writes. "He
left no room for rationalized bigotry or self-deception. He seduced his audience with a
rhythmic and dynamic use of his own language, acting as the slow pull of a Band-Aid off
denial."
Look around at our nation of addicts, a nation where prescription drugs have their
own snazzy TV commercials, when cell phones are required means of communication,
when the religious right still controls the White House.

As for the comedy on this boxset, Lenny Bruce has never been more relevant, never more hilarious, as he lampoons santimonious religious and political leaders, gives frank and insightful opinions about the art of comedy and who the "real" comedians of his time were. Lenny himself does not escape his incisive eye and satire as one track on Disc 2 has him reading a scathing review his nightclub act received, admitting to the audience how the review rankled him.

LET THE BUYER BEWARE is much more than a "Best of" Lenny Bruce. It provides tremendous scope of this comic genius' career, from his very early apperance on THE ARTHUR GODFREY show (winning the talent contest for that week) to his being warned by a police officer to keep his nightclub act "clean" while performing in a particular city.

To this fan, the single most poignant track in the entire boxset comes on Disc 6 when Lenny explains how "I Picked on the Wrong God." Lenny is never maudlin, but introspective and painfully honest as he assesses what has been about his outlook and nightclub act that ignited his myriad legal troubles.

It's easy to cast Lenny Bruce as a philosopher, as a martyr for freedom of speech, but I think Lenny's assessment of himself is most apt: "I'm not a comedian. I'm Lenny Bruce." His brand of insight and satire was so singular, it cannot be summed up as simply "comedy." It was no mere entertainment, nor was he simply pontificating from a nightclub stage. Lenny Bruce opened himself before his audience unlike any performer at that time, and like few have since then.

The Lenny Bruce boxset, LET THE BUYER BEWARE, is a cultural event as important as a trunk filled with unpublished Mark Twain novels being unearthed. LET THE BUYER BEWARE presents over 7 hours of Lenny Bruce material, much of which has never been released in any form. As a hardcore fan, I was amazed to find virtually no overlap between this boxset and previously released Lenny Bruce albums.

Along with Kiss Me, Kate, 1934's Anything Goes is usually thought to be Cole Porter's finest show. Even without a young belter named Ethel Merman as the lead, the show's parade of hits ("I Get a Kick Out of You," "All Through the Night," "You're the Top," and "Blow, Gabriel, Blow") would have secured it a place in Broadway's pantheon. This recording is the first one to use the original 1934 arrangements, painstakingly reconstructed with the help of one of the original arrangers, Hans Spialek, and it also includes three songs cut from the original production. And the excellent cast does the London Symphony Orchestra and conductor John McGlinn proud: Kim Craswell is her usual powerhouse as Reno Sweeney (if only a little brittle around the edges sometimes), while mezzo Frederica von Stade smoothly adapts to musical theater as Hope Harcourt. All musical-theater lovers should have Anything Goes in their collection, and this recording is quite a worthy one. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

The Original, but not the Better.......2007-01-31

This CD is quite a classic, as it is Anything Goes, but in as close to its original form as possible. The other recordings of Anything Goes have been altered significantly with dropped and added songs. This CD also is very much in the classical musical theater style. This seems to be an ensemble piece, with big chorus numbers mixed in equally with love duets, and the occasional ballad. After listening to a few tracks, you will surely have a tune stuck in your head, but the nice thing is none of these are annoying tunes. The singers (save one) are great; the lyrics are decent, although sometimes predictable, and the orchestration is out in full grandeur. I would suggest this for collectors, older listeners, or listeners of the older musicals. This is not one for the newer listeners who are captivated with the likes of Wicked and Tarzan. For the newer listeners I would suggest getting the 1962 Off-Broadway Cast, it has a much fresher feel to it, and I prefer it to this one. Favorite Song: "Anything Goes"

Anything Goes - Cole Porter.......2006-03-18

I'm too young to have heard this music when it was originally released, but heard some of the songs on the radio as part of a Cole Porter feature and liked them. I looked up the details on the BBC website and tried to find the same recording on-line. The only way I could get it was ordering from Amazon America, which I did. No problems - delivery within 2 weeks and (including postage) same cost as a full price CD in UK.

If you know any of these songs and want to hear them recorded with original orchestration, without anything added or taken away, and sung by very good singers, then this will fit the bill.

Orchestration is very good, nothing too lush or fancy, it just fits the words perfectly. And beautifully recorded.

The singers are all very good except for Jack Gilford who I personally thought was awful - but he only features once. Kim Criswell is exceptional.

With the CD comes a very informative booklet, giving full text of the lyrics, background to how the musical came to be written, and an explanation of the context of the topics covered by the songs.

I'm very glad I went to the trouble of getting this CD. If you want to hear Cole Porter's musical as it sounded originally, then get this!

An excellent additionto the Cole Porter fan's collection........2005-09-22

If you like Cole Porter and/or musical comedies, don't miss this item. The performances are outstanding. The entire production is faithful to the original production. Also included is a very thorough booklet, which even has a glossary explaining Porter's allusions in his lyrics.

A PLEASANT SURPRISE . . . .......2005-08-07

My introduction to ANYTHING GOES was the 1962 revival on LP. (Remember LPs? Remember when vinyl meant music and not imitation leather?) With it I became an Eileen Rodgers fan and remain so to this day. (Would someone please re-issue the original Broadway cast recording of TENDERLOIN so Broadway fans may hear Ms. Rodgers belt "Little Old New York" as only she can? I was fortunate to purchase the Angel Broadway CD before Capitol dropped it, along with many other fine cast recording. Shame!!!) Anyway, I like this version and highly recommend it, especially for its restored original orchestrations and for the excellence of its three leads. Yes, the Ambrosian Singers are too well trained and "proper" to sing "Broadway" and the bits of dialogue reveal how the "book" played second fiddle to the music in those days. Thankfully, this would change with SHOW BOAT, and John McGlinn's EMI recording of the complete score with dialoge - although not my favorite - is an invaluable document and needs to be in any serious collection of Broadway show recordings.

I truly appreciate the authenticity of this (ANYTHING GOES) project. I only wish McGlinn and company had not approached the show with kid gloves, because it lacks the energy and immediacy of a good Broadway cast recording. There were times, when listening, I felt as I often do in a museum. The piece of art is a classic and much to be admired, but don't get too close. And you mustn't touch! Nevertheless, I highly recommend this recording. Kim Criswell deserves to be on your shelf along with Eileen Rodgers and Patti LuPone.

As close to the original 1934 performance as we'll ever get!.......2004-10-23

Of the many ANYTHING GOES recordings, this is the ONLY one to recreate the score as it was heard on opening night in 1934.

The later stage revivals (1962 and 1987) dropped some of the original songs and added other Cole Porter standards. While these versions play well on stage, there is something to be siad for hearing the original text and orchestrations. While no one can replace Ethel Merman's original star performance, it was not preserved because "original cast" albums were not being done in 1934. She did record some of the songs over the years but never with the original orchestrations. (Just think if EMI had made this set in the 1960s and brought Merman into the studio to record her interpretations! What a missed opportunity.) That said, Kim Criswell brings the requesite belt to Reno Sweeney's songs. Cris Groenendaal brings a pleasant light tenor to Billy Crocker's songs, and Frederica Von Stade (one of the few opera singers whose voice seems well suited to american musical theatre repretoire) is well suited to Hope's short musical scenes. As an ingenue, she doesn't get to sing all that much!

Not all is perfect. Jack Gilford was too old and frail having little voice left for Moonface Martin's number. And the Ambrosian singers sing correctly without having the proper "broadway" sound. Nevertheless, John McClinn conducts with precision, and the thick booklet is full of fascinating facts about the show, a detailed synopsis, all the lyrics and an amusing glossery explaing some of the obscure references in Porter's original lyrics.

Entertaining.......2005-11-26

This isn't really a bad album. The album is coherent in it's material. There are only too much songs on it that are quite standard GFR-material and are missing the raw edge of their earlier work. So when you want the hard rocking Grand Funk, don't buy this one. I also don't like the use of the vocoder in the song 'All the girls in the world beware'. It makes the sound too messy.
I rate this album 3,5 stars because it has no really weak songs on it and it has some really strong tracks ('Life' - this one is hardrocking and sounds inspired and the singing by Mark Farmer is very strong, 'Memories' and Good & Evil' are well done 'slow' tracks) and everyone knows the classics 'Bad Time' and 'Some kind of wonderful'. Though I don't like that last song. I've heard it too much and well it in fact has always irritated me (otherwise I had rated this one 4 stars).

ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS BY THE QUARTET FUNK.......2004-12-14

Along with the unpopular "BORN TO DIE" album, this is one of the best albums they recorded with keyboard player CRAIG FROST (this was the second album the CRAIG would write songs with DON and MARK), despite how the cover and title of this album (something I thought DON BREWER might have come up with)is completely silly, if not stupid. Additionally, I thought lyrics to the title track went extremely too far, although the excellent riffs of bass guitar, organ, drums, guitar, and vocals made this song rock out. Anyway, my 2 favorite songs on this album are the broken romance soft-ballads "MEMORIES" and "BAD TIME" that were written and sung by MARK. They feature various keyboards and excellent harmony vocals, but they would have sound better if CRAIG would have played the mellotron instead of the band using an orchestra. The first song RESPONSIBILITY that features an excellent piano intro, drums, bass guitar riffs, harmony vocals, and outstanding lead vocals and guitar riffs by MARK is a great beginner, and "RUNNIN" that features a horn section, DON'S lead vocal, organ, harmony vocals, bass guitar, and guitar riffs is a great rocker. The fast-paced LIFE has excellent drum playing, bass guitar, guitar, and organ riffs. Plus, MARK FARNER'S voice on "LIFE" reminds me of MICKEY THOMAS of JEFFERSON STARSHIP, and "LOOK AT GRANNY RUN" has MARK and DON trading off lead vocals, with guitar riffs, piano playing, drums, and the horn section with a sax solo. LIFE is also a great song with the horn section, drums, piano playing, bass guitar riffs, guitar riffs, and singing by MARK . "GOOD AND EVIL is a good psychodelic rhythm and blues rock tune with distorted vocals and organ and guitar riffs. Unfortunately, the last song "SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL" is my least favorite song of just about everything I have heard from them. Whoever originally wrote this may had a point, but I have never liked the way it sounds. "BAD TIME" would have been a better closer for the album. When I downloaded this off NAPSTER, I switched the order of the last 2 songs because of my personal choice. More importantly, I can understand what MARK FARNER'S divorce put him through because I know how it feels to lose somebody you love and are really in love with. Furthermore, I also think MARK, DON ,MEL, AND CRAIG should have recorded a GRAND FUNK RIALROAD cd with MARK writing about the war with IRAQ.

I loved the early hard rock GFR. Heavy loud bass and screaming guitar. The songs and playing were basic but fun. I also liked the later albums such as "we're an american band" "phoenix" and "Shinin on" hey even Born to die, but this....ugggh, bubblegumtrashyhornblowincommercialmidstreamrubbish. Forget this one please and listen to any of the others.

Not Great, not terrible either........2003-04-01

I heard alot of negative reviews about this cd so I almost didn't buy it. Not as bad as I thought. A little cheesy at times. Nothing like there first 5 albums which were great. But, by far is not there greatest cd either. Watch Granny run run sounds like grandpa got viagra. Of course this album was released in 1974, before viagra existed. Now I have all GFr's albums (except for there early 80's releases). Much more to Gfr than the capitol series. Very interesting band, glad I got into them. Mark Farner was very political as well. Wonder what his take would be on the happenings on the iraq war?

A refreshing change for Grand Funk !.......2003-03-23

Any Grand Funk fan can simply look at the album cover of "All The Girls In The World Beware"...predict a change in direction for the band.This was the first Grand Funk album I ever heard...on 8-TRACK tape... may they rest in peace. As a teenager it was a fun album...and hearing it now after all of these years..."All The Girls..." is STILL a fun album...not the usual Grand Funk sound...but a GREAT change of pace !

Things get started upbeat...with Craig Frost's piano opening on "Responsibility" setting the tone for the album's style...and as soon as Mark Farner starts singing...you want to sing along...which happens quite often on this album !

"Running" is a great Don Brewer song...and has a "Rare Earth"...70's Motown feel to it... complete with a horn section...which continues to appear throughout the album...it's a great "driving" tune.

"Life" is very similar...with some great Mark Farner guitar and solid bass lines by Mel Schacher. Am I hearing 70's "Temptations" ? A great song !

"Look At Granny Run"...well...while not my favorite...it's fun...humorous and catchy ! I have this frightening of image of my grandfather chasing my grandmother around in their senior years...which is okay of course...but not something I sit and think about. More great horns on this one !

"Memories" is the the ballad contribution...and Mark Farner and the band are great here...a vey bluesy feel...and an excellent change of pace at this point on the album ! Nice job !

" All The Girls In The World Beware" is pretty good...again...a 70's Temptation/Motown sound....GREAT bass and keyboards here by Mel and Craig.

"Wild"...eventually a "B-side"...is a great song...complete with horns...and great playing from the entire band ! You definitely want to move and sing along !

"Good And Evil"...ahhh...now THIS is some back to basics Grand Funk...a medium tempo song with a great blues touch...EXCELLENT guitar by Mark...and EXCELLENT keyboards from Craig....but everyone is very good here.

"Bad Time" and "Some Kind Of Wonderful"...the hits...speak for themselves...great songs...fun to listen to !

If you're new to Grand Funk..."All The Girls In The World Beware" is a good place to start ! It's a fun change of pace. A VERY GOOD album...enjoy it! Again..kudos to Capitol for all of the "extras" and the 24-bit remastering !

OH MY...........2006-11-15

......that's what I was saying after this album ended. This is Spock's Beard's 2nd album and one of the best prog albums I've EVER HEARD. Simply amazing. Neal Morse and Co. are just hitting on all cylinders on this one. Their debut, The Light, was fantastic, but this is even better. The album starts off with the title track, a cover of the George Harrison song....it's a cover only lyrically...the music is awesome. It's followed by Thoughts, which is indeed a great song and *not* annoying as the previous reviewer so mistakenly stated. The highlights for me on this album are the epics The Doorway, Walking On the Wind, and the absolutely stunning album closer Time Has Come......16 1/2 minutes of prog mastery. Two shorter but excellent songs, the acoustic Chataqua and the rockin' Waste Away, round out the album.

This is, so far, the best Spock's Beard album I've heard and I can't wait to delve deeper into their catalog.....get this album and turn it up LOUD...you'll love it!

Viper the one who said that this album is wack needs to stop hatin he's just mad because bow wow's accomplished more than he ever will he said the same thing about Doggy Bag. He needs to stop hatin on Bow wow because the 11 tracks that he made was hot and it's a really good start for a 13 year old. If he got so much mouth why dont he come out with a C.D. and let us critic it. I bet he wont like what we have to say about it.

This CD is a classic Bow Wow CD. This is very 1st CD before he became Bow Wow. There's a lot of hot tracks on this album like "Playboy", "Bounce With Me" and "Bow Wow (That's My Name)". Yo but there's a lot of guest appearance like Snoop Dogg, R.O.C., Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat, Xscape and Jagged Edge. Lil' Bow Wow was 12 years old when he came out with this CD. This is probably the best out of all his other albums he came out with.

Bow Wow sucks, he's horrible and always will be. He has bubblegum watered down lyrics, stupid content, juvenile topics, and absolutely no talent what so ever. If your 10 or over and you listen to this, I pitty you. Go get some Eminem, G-Unit, Dipset, Snoop Dogg ect. Not this watered down crud, there is so much better rap out there than this crap.

Your search for good Burns songs has ended.......2000-01-29

Jean Redpath sings the "inimitable songs of Burns" as if Rabbie himself is hovering over her shoulder. You're not likely to find too many singers more suited to her material than Redpath. Also, I needs must mention the first-rate musical accompaniments by Serge Hovey. All in all, the seven volume Redpath-Burns series is indispensible for lovers of song everywhere. Way to go, folks.

San Francisco's Claude VonStroke delivers an absolutely brilliant album: Beware Of The Bird. This album is possibly the greatest dance electronica LP of all time. Capturing a version of electronic music that some people call "minimal", I call this style of music "not annoying". Granted, Beware Of The Bird does contain twitchy synth lines, but it does it in a careful way. My problem with most techno music is the droney, annoying, and lacking-space qualitites. Each piece of this record shows tasteful composition, bone-crushing engineering, and will force just about anyone to get up on the dance floor. From an inspiration stand-point, this album seriously makes me want to compose electronic dance music. This is classic house music, and even if you are new to the genre, this album is a guaranteed delight. And finally, Amazon has a CD of this for sale. Beware Of The Bird is history in the making.

it catches you and does'nt let go. I absolutely love the composition/elements on that one. Others are decent.

Captures the Raucous Rawness.......2006-03-07

The most famous Hound Dog Taylor quote was: "When I die, they'll say: 'He couldn't play sh*t, but he sure made it sound good.'" This is a man who understands his appeal. Taylor played a beat-up guitar, and he cranked on the thing, playing distorted, screeching notes. But god, it DID sound good. And as the quote implies, he had the personality to go with the raucous, raw music that he played. Which is why this album is so good. It's live, so you can hear the sound imperfections, the screaming crowd, and Taylor's off-kilter banter and sense of humor. And that's probably the perfect way to listen to Taylor. To put it all another way: He plays a version of "She'll Be Coming 'round the Mountain" that makes you want to get up and dance.

Great blues album.......2005-09-14

This album is a masterpiece. The highlights of this album are "The Sun is Shining" and "Freddie's Blues" . The way he uses feedback in "Freddie's Blues" is truley amazing.It's like Hound Dogs Ghost. I bought this ablum and it was well worth the money. This album is a frequent in my CD player. Any blues fan will like this Album

Hard Edged Electric Blues.......2005-03-31

This is a great live blues album. It's just a raw slide guitar masterpiece. The songs are varied. The audience is "into" the performances. There really ought to be more albums like this -- but this ranks right up there with the likes of the Stone's "Get Your Ya Yas Out" or live Johnny Winter. I only gave it four stars, but it is a great addition to any music collection. You can definitely party to this music.

Hard-rock blues.......2003-10-27

Okay, I'm not a Hound Dog fan -- not that I have anything against him, it's just that this is the only album I've got by him. Maybe it's because I doubt there's better album by him. This is a clear favorite for when I want some loud, electric blues. It's a great live recording that captures both the energy of the performance and gives a generally clean, balanced sound. The opener "Give Me Back My Wig" and his take on "Dust My Broom" are great work. The only thing that holds it back from a five-star is a few muddy tracks and a few uneven songs. Even with all that, if you're into electric blues, you should definitely have this album, along with Muddy Waters "Hard Again".
