Ahhh...the memories........2007-05-10
God, how I used to LOVE this song back in the day. Even now, I can still hear it in my head, and after I saw that GPS commercial, with an audio clip digitally remastered, I just fell in love with it all over again, even though it was only 2-3 seconds. Still, it only took that long to remember the timesI would listen to that faithfully. I've yet to own it on audio CD/DVD, but soon plan to now. This looks like something that would come from Heaven itself, to be completely digitllly restored and remastered!!! What a dream come true! Well, I'm sold, how 'bout you?

A good value.......2007-05-17
I wasn't expecting to have 4 discs for this price, and the music is a quality selection of film music, giving a good scope of the genre, and a very listenable transfer.
The Sound Track Since Bernard Hermann.......2006-07-25
This collection is bound to capture your heart and evoke a tin ear on successive tracks. I found much to like and some duds - easy to skip over.
Very good value.
Good mix of film music.......2006-07-02
Good mix of films!
I'm a big fan of this soundtrack music and will be looking for more CD's like this.
A mixed collection of movie music.......2006-02-23
For the price, this CD is a great bargain. The musical selections, as you might expect, are mixed in quality ranging from extraordinary to so so, the balance being worthwhile and interesting. Sonically the CD is excellent.

Customer Reviews:
Awesome Set!.......2007-07-01
I am a huge fan of Jerry Goldsmith. They did a great job preserving his vision. I can listen to this collection for hours. Great music!
Elmer Bernstein Film Music Collection.......2006-11-03
This is compilation of hit film music from one of the greatest composers in motion pictures. What is surprising though is the music not included like the Ghost And The Darkness, the 13th Warrior, Rudy and others. To be sure, 4 discs are not enough for a composure of this stature. THe recording, however, is an "engineering masterpiece" which makes the music even more enjoyable than when you first heard it at the movies. When are we ging to get the music that was omittd from this compilaton?
Overall a strong Goldsmith sampler.......2006-04-11
Okay, this is a CD review, so the focus is on music, but I've got to say this first: this has got to be a contender for the ugliest cover art ever. I mean, come on...instead of a tribute to the composer, the cover looks like someone spilled a glass of merlot over a NASA photo.
Fortunately, even an ugly cover will not ruin good music. And the good news is that I'd say about 75 percent of the music is good....and on a 4 cd set, that's a lot. Like other Silva compilations, the strength of this compilation is the variety. There are selections from the big releases (Star Trek, Omen, Rambo), but there is also a healthy dose of tracks from the smaller releases(Under Fire, Lionheart, The Swarm).
Two examples come to mind. Capricorn One and The Great Train Robbery are two movies that are not exactly household names today, but are dominated by two of Goldmith's finest main themes. The City of Prague Philharmonic come through with terrific renditions. And there are plenty of other strong performances...a few being concert versions conducted by Goldsmith himself. Suprisingly, "The Wind and the Lion" works, which is no small accomplishment given the ferentic original performance of "Raisuli Attacks".
It's not a complete success. A few of the performances fall flat, particularly some of the more inventive scores. Total Recall is just bad, mangling the performance with poor percussion and synthesizer choices to boot. Also a letdown is the Klingon Attack from the first Star Trek movie. The Prague Philhamonic attempt doesn't sound bad--it's just that once you've heard the original soundtrack's "blaster beam" with enough bass to rattle your teeth...well let's just say Silva's version is a little tinny in comparison.
But I shouldn't dwell on the negative. Overall, this is a strong sampler of Goldsmith's variety. There are plenty of quality performances here, and despite a few omissions (noticeably Planet of the Apes)this is a very good release from Silva.
Jerry Goldsmith - 40 years of pleasure.......2006-02-22
It was wonderful to hear Mr. Goldsmith's music that went all the way back to The Man from UNCLE, The Waltons, Dr Kildare, etc. And then to hear his music up to the present. The man was a genius!
Almost the perfect compilation.......2005-12-31
Age has its value.... This sweeping collection of compositions brings back so many great memories. This collection shows how significant Goldsmith was for both the movie screen and the small screen. With such a grand collection, every reader can be assured that at least one movie or TV program they like or remember had Goldsmith's contribution. It was an amazing life and the collection well worth having.
However, as sweepig as it is, there are a few holes in the selection. "First Contact", one of the sweetest and richest compositions from the Star Trek is absent. "The Ghost and the Darkness" is missing and the "Medicine Man" music should include the theme song. By dwelling on several selections from the Blue Max, these were squeezed out. Three full and important movie themes got the axe.
However, all but "The Ghost and the Darkness" are readily available and not overly expensive as is the "Ghost" CD. This is a must have for the TV and movie music fan.
Before there was Hans Solo there was Napolean Solo, before ER there was Dr. Kildare. Jerry Goldsmith IS Sci-Fi. "Resistance is futile.. you MUST assimilate this CD collection."

Great driving music.......2007-07-22
Polaris are Just Miracle Legion, yes. But this Polaris album is so beautiful and simple that it goes back to The Backyard release by Miracle Legion.
Even if you don't like the music, most people will agree that Mark's voice and guitar tones are stellar.
I think this is a real fun, eccentric record.

This cd brings back memories of Pete and Pete, but it's also just fun to listen to. I would definitely suggest it to a friend.
Songs to get stuck in your head for days..........2006-03-02
Any true fan of The Adventures of Pete and Pete knows how much the music of Polaris contributed to the excellence of the show. "She is Staggering" is indescribably beautiful and perfect, one of my favorite songs of all time. Everyone who loves the show needs to have this CD, but even people who have never heard of Pete and Pete would enjoy it as well. It's simply very good music.

Customer Reviews:
Adrenaline Rush? Not So!.......2007-07-28
Now I am a big wrestling fan and I watch as much as I can! But what I really love is the music that they play. But Tna released 3rd Degree Burns, I was extremely disappointed.
The CD contains 22 tracks, which is a decent amount of music compared to WWE. But the problem is there are about eight tracks on the CD that are worthy of even being called good! The good thing was that they had the song Adrenaline Rush, which is probably the most played song on the CD for me and everyone else who bought it. It is that poor of a CD. Heck you can't even get it on iTunes; that's how bad it is!
If you are looking for a great wrestling CD, look somewhere else, but if you really want to listen to the music of TNA either watch the show and listen or find someone who has the CD already and have it burned, but don't but it.
TNA Wrestling: 3rd Degree Burns gets 3 stars out of 5.
My name is Amone. Adios!
A decent effort...........2006-12-25
A decent to somewhat good CD from TNA wrestling, the prequel tracks 1, 4, 8, 11, 14, 20, are okay. The best are Track 2: Sting, Track 5: Samoa Joe, Track 10: AJ Styles and Track 21: Christian Cage.
The rest of the tracks are okay, with the exception of Track 6: Christy Hemme-Society Box, which isn't very good to say the least.
It's a decent CD, nothing more nothing less. It's worth a purchase if the price is right ($6-10, sounds right) but not more than that.
Vol 3: A vast improvement over the last two.......2006-12-10
This is the third volume of TNA's theme song's and is easily the best. While the other two are little known (they were released while TNA was having weekly PPV's) This one hit's the nail on the head. Not only do you get the typical themes of stars like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Christian Cage, Raven, and Jeff Jarret, but you also get the special prequel music from Victory Road 2006. If your a fan of TNA this disc is a must.
Except for one track a great disk........2006-12-10
I liked this disk. It has the entrance music of the stars of TNA and some cool remixes. That being said the Christy Hemme song was not the greatest. It would be the only track I would scratch my head at wondering how it got on the disk. I would say that all the entrance music is cool and is uncut.
Beware! Terrible CD!.......2006-12-08
Let me just say this is TNA's lame attempt to copy everything WWE does. Christy Hemme has by far the worst singing voice I have ever heard in my entire life. The woman cannot sing! This cd is filled with bad tracks and is an overall mess. Stay away from this cd and go buy a WWE cd cause those are the quality ones.

Grant Lee Genius.......2007-08-02
I've of course heard of Grant Lee (Buffalo/Phillips)but this was my first purchase, and its been on high rotation ever since. Its just such good, feel good music & I would like to punish myself physically for not having got into this before. This may not even be the best but i will now buy them all on the basis of this album. I love it, seriously, I love it. Don't ask me song titles, the whole album just swings on thru and its starting over and I let it go again, and the whole thing just sounds better and better. I dunno is it Duncan Sheik meets Beck? I guess if it could be better than maybe a studio band with a real live drummer, but I'm being picky. Grant Lee, please include me in your (should be) legions of fans.
Exceptional!.......2006-02-24
Was always a big fan of Grant Lee Buffalo, "Jubilee" totally rules, and Grant Lee on his own rocks too!
"Like A Lover" is one of the simplest songs, but conveys so much feeling, it knocks me out everytime I hear it.
"Mobilize" the beat always makes me think of Portishead, such a cool song
"Spring Released" is one of those songs that's timeless. It's like religion to play this track coming into the sunny season.
Do yourself a favour and buy anything of this exceptional musician that you can get your hands on. C'mon Grant Lee, give us another!!
rhythm + romanticism + melody = Mobilize.......2005-07-14
"Epic masterpiece..." "Channeling John Lennon" These are descriptions from other reviews, both puzzling to me. There's nothing epic about this, nor is there the slightest resemblance to Mr. Lennon -- who composed music in an entirely different vein. This is a personal album, sometimes quiet and sometimes hypnotically beat-driven. As far as I can tell GLP played and sang everything himself. This is like his earlier Ladies Love Oracle, but juiced up with rhythm. Acoustic guitars and electric keyboards predominate, with the sythetic percussion.
Mobilize doesn't really hang together as a unified piece. It is more a collection of songs, most of which are very good. The best of them are dreamy, entrancing, and soothing. Computer-sequenced beats give a pulse to many of the tracks. The lyrics are specific enough to be enticing but vague enough to allow your own interpretation. But take advantage of the free amazon.com download of See America and you will hear for yourself the strengths of this Grant-Lee Phillips effort. It will tell you ten times more than I could ever say in a review. Besides, there are only two kinds of music: good and bad. And you and I will never completely agree on which is which. At least give this a try. Was See America Grant-Lee's twist on Simon & Garfunkel's "...all come to look for America"? It seems so to me, and I think it is equally clever and anthemic.
See America, Sleepless Lake, and April Chimes showcase Phillips' ability to write a haunting melody, which is something of a lost art. See his Ladies Love Oracle CD for more of the same.
The other free download, the title track, is probably the least enjoyable tune on the album. It sounds a bit off-kilter, with its minor chords and allusions to war. The other tracks are much less depressing. Spring Released is positively bouyant, as is Beautiful Dreamers. (My grandmother used to play the classic old song Beautiful Dreamer, which GLP deftly incorporates into his own new composition.)
GLP is not trying to push the envelope or pump you up or sermonize. He seeks to entertain, by presenting a little piece of his contempative romantic soul. Treat yourself to some high class pop. Get this album. You can catch glimpses of GLP as the "town troubadour" on the first season of Gilmore Girls, too. That's how I was first introduced to his music.
I lost my first copy of this CD. I can't imagine how. It never left the house. But I had to buy another, because I knew I would miss it. I think you might feel that way about it, too.
Only 500 times over..........2002-11-08
I first heard Grant-Lee when he was part of Grant-Lee Buffalo. A friend made me a tape of "Mighty Joe Moon" about six years ago. I hadn't really thought about Grant-Lee until I saw the Exile Follies tour with Kristen Hersh, Grant-Lee and John Doe. I was so impressed with Grant-Lee that I had to hear more. I downloaded parts of songs from this album and listened to them over and over. I had to buy the album. So I bought it a week ago and have been listening to nothing else but this since. It's on most of the day at work and then on in the car for four or five songs at a time. I truly love this cd, it's a good thing that it's not on tape or the tape would be worn out already.
There is something really catchy about the songs that make you want to listen to them over and over. They also get stuck in your head and you just have to listen to them! "Spring Released," "Sadness Soot" and "Beautiful Dreamers" are the main ones that I keep singing over and over in my head. "See America" has a wonderful romantic sound to it that makes you want to take a road trip. I thought the lyrics seemed really cool at first, then I read the lyrics in the liner notes and realized that they are even cooler than they sound, they are quite poetic.
If you've never heard Grant-Lee, I've learned that you're missing out. He's definitely up there with my faves - PJ Harvey, Kristen Hersh, Tori and Liz Phair. I will definitely be adding more Grant-Lee Phillips to my collection as I can afford it.
Move to this........2002-08-26
Grant Lee Phillips is a top-class singer-songwriter who has a wealth of experience as well as two or three truly great records behind him, and somehow you just knew he wasn't going to disappoint with Mobilize. It finds Phillips embracing a more polished, modern sound than past efforts - accentuated by the classy, breatless pop of the opener 'See America' and similarly impressive 'Humankind'. As the title suggests 'Love's A Mystery' is all mystique and intrigue with Phillips sounding eerily like David Byrne, and is exactly the kind of left-field tunesmithery on the human condition at which he excels.
The real gem here though is 'Sadness Soot' - dizzying in it's magnificence and showcasing just how remarkable Phillips' voice really is - a master of phrasing, mood and expression. As with his Grant Lee Buffalo albums, just when you think you're in for more pop thrills, we get something edgy and challenging like the title track to throw you off the scent. The second half of Mobilize is engaging and interesting, if a little less consistent than the first (though that's a common complaint these days). Still, the bonus track 'Sunday Best' is a rather jaunty closing treat.
For listeners that like their music to be innovative, fresh and just a little outside the square then Mobilize will fit the bill nicely.

This debut features a sparse blend of clanging percussion, aggressive bass riffs, and impassioned screaming. In spirit, the music is industrial, yet it manages to avoid the cliches critics associate with the genre (such as overly processed vocals, and megadistorted guitar sounds). The songs dispense with traditional notions of melody and harmony, focusing instead on percussive innovation and rhythmic variation. Although monophonic synth lines comprise the only tonal instrumentation, the upbeat tempos, relentless vocals, and percussive embellishment prevent the arrangements from growing tedious. --Michael A. Late 80s industrial breakthrough.......2007-03-09
I still remember the first time I watched the video for "Murderous" on "120 minutes" in the late 80s, back when MTV used to play music videos. I was lucky enough to record it on VHS, and I watched it all over and over again for months. A friend in school ended up buying the album, made a copy for me, and I was transformed. The heavy beats, the energy, the hard pumping synth, the angst in the lyrics, all resonated with me.
I was extremely lucky to catch them live in the early 90s ("Ebbhead Tour"), and to this day, I still think it was one of the best live performances in a small venue I have ever seen...very visual, very goth-like, up to par with Front 242's live show around the same time.
This is definitely a very "pioneer" production, and their best effort. This album is what made them who they are today, even though they deviated from this sound, to what some consider a more "watered-down" version. And incredible industrial gem. 5 Stars.
This is not industrial... this is just loops........2007-01-08
This band might have share the same years in which industrial was popular, but they sound annoyingly repetitive. Wherever I go, if I search for FRONT 242 music I always end with these guys in the list, like if you like these you might like these too. Well, not really. FRONT 242 uses loops too, but they don't make the loops the entire song. This guys probably are cool if you like for example the Andy Warhol movie where he filmed the empire state building for 24 hours. No dialog, no music, one shot. If you can stand that type of movie, this music is for you.
The Best by Ebb.......2006-05-24
I had the privalage of seeing them live in 1990,,,
with Depeche Mode.....it was one of the best shows
I have ever seen.....
This cd is far and away their best...the site says it came out in 1990 I think it was actually like 1988,,,Showtime is good to...but Total Age is GOLD>>>>>>>>
Fire fire fire fire ,,,,burn burn burn
no music here.......2006-04-12
For someone trying to get into "industrial" this is not the way to go. Hell, I wouldn't recommend this album to anyone.
Here's what's on it: VERY simple drum tracks from a very old, annoyingly fake sounding drum machine and VERY plain synthesizer loops. There is no musical value here; there are at most 2 synth loops on top of a drum track and vocals. The loops aren't interesting at all, just a hand full of notes played over and over. The singing gets irritating after the fourth track.
When I first picked up the album, I thought it had potential but now I realize it does not. If you are thinking about buying it, I HIGHLY recommend listening to it before you buy, this is not for everyone.
i used to be overweight...........2006-03-18
Until i bought this album! Right from the first song, this album commands you to do something physical or active. I started jogging after the first few listens, and although it did hurt at first, you eventually forget about it and lose yourself in the fast paced beats, and the amazing basslines. The shouting vocals also helped, they acted as though they were being sung by a drill seargant at a boot camp. It is impossible to sit still during this album. just get it if you need exercise, or if you just want something agressive yet not headache inducing. You will realise that there is a purpose to fitness!

straight up punk, teenage bottlerocket rules!.......2006-07-21
if any of you love punk (and i mean PUNK ROCK), bands like the ramones, the living end, the methadones, sex pistols..not the pop punk you hear out there because thats not really punk. yeah it has elements of punk rock but this is the REAL PUNK ROCK. this band is amazing..of course having that power pop punk sound kinda like the ramones these guys have their own sound. two singers (which are awesome) and the raw sounding guitars and catchy tunes make this cd VERY ADDICTIVE. i suggest everyone listen to this album and this band. one of the best cd's i've heard. period.

While his first Rounder release covered ground from honky tonk to Western swing to cowboy, Wylie Gustafson stays firmly on the dusty trail on his inviting, uplifting follow-up. Although the album is bookended by two upbeat Wylie originals, most of the record owns a relaxed, lonesome-prairie mood. His exhilarating yodels---which move from baritone to falsetto in effortless fashion---are tastefully supported by exquisite fills from guitarist Mark Thornton and steel player Carco Clave. Along the way he visits three Jimmie Rodgers tunes (including the lesser-known "When the Cactus Is in Bloom") along with songs associated with the Sons of the Pioneers and Elton Britt, a relatively forgotten Rodgers disciple. Total Yodel! falls somewhere between Don Walser's majesty and Riders in the Sky's vivacity. Most importantly, Wylie understands the emotional range of the yodel; his original "Big Sky Lullaby" provides ample proof, containing some of the most expressive yodeling committed to record. --Marc Greilsamer

This one will stay in your CD player. You'll be a happy camper, singing along before you know it, whether you're a yodeling fan (yet) or not. Wylie is the real deal, and this is his best.
What a GREAT CD!.......1999-11-08
The best song is the last "Yodeling Fool". Wylie also does a first class job on some Jimmie Rodgers songs such as "When the Cactus is in Bloom". Yes, Virginia there are two types of music Country AND Western! This is Western at it's finest.
Wonderful western yodeling!.......1999-09-17
My Great Uncle used to yodel when I was a kid. These old favorites bring back wonderful memories.
